That just might be one of the realest interviews I ever heard. Ive often wondered what rap would be like if Pac and Big were still alive, and Im quite convinced that it probably wouldnt be much different than it is now. Big & Pac would “fall off” just like many haters claim Jay and Nas have. The Christ-like esteem niggaz seem to hold them in is, primarily, attributed to the fact that they died in their prime…or should I say, before niggaz could grow tired of them. If Christopher Wallace was still alive there would be no Biggie movie, or incessant shout outs…he probably be regarded by many as yet another “washed up”, 30 something east coast rapper.
As “hip-hop heads”, “bloggers”, or whateva the fuck else they’re calling us now, we’re, by nature, a very critical bunch, but lets not be so critical that we neglect to appreciate the greats while they’re still with us.
LETS BUY THEIR MUSIC AND SUPPORT THEM
Scarface, Q-tip, Nas, Bun-B, The Roots, Common (finding forever), and too many more to name here, have dropped CLASSIC joints without much buzz or fanfare. It disgusted me how many people shouted out RIP Pimp C, but how few took the time to purchase AND appreciate his work…THIS IS WHY HIP-HOP IS “DEAD”, its not because of Soulja Boy, or any other bullshit reason Ignorant/lazy niggaz want to make up….its because we dont support good music, and for whatever reason, we get mad when it stops coming…
nore was the funniest in the game by far at one time. i think fiddy took his spot.
pun still doesnt get the props that he deserves. if half of the new generation heard more than two songs from pun they would be bored whenever anyone talks about ______.
nore was on point as expected. i wonder if he still puts granddaddy i.c.u over big and pac? of if wayne is still number one for him. anyhow, nore keeps it 100 wihtout being political.
but yeah i always wondered why no one gave the outlaws any love. since they were basically teenagers from jersey that pac rode for hard.
but yeah, the dude above was right. we do not support good artist but get pissed when other rappers sell crazy records while dope artist rarely push gold.
That’s my word NORE, Thank You! This stuck-up internet shit done got outta hand! See in the streets, if you met a nigga and you was somebody word got around. Now niggas is hiding behind a computer screen trying to hold on to some idea that they’re gatekeepers or something. Hip-Hop is a culture first. It ain’t about what job you had first its about how you contributed to the freedom sruggle through music, dancing and/or street art! And we’re not talking about the 70’s or 80’s; we’re talking about the 90’s and the new millenium! We still rep this shit! If not for ourselves then for those who died for this so the next generation could have it to eat and learn the truth about the past. http://www.myspace.com/triplebars
But he spoke the truth tho. So can’t be mad at dukes. Madd artists today would be shittin on Big cuz he’s the competition. But like he said, cuz dude is gone, they shout him out.
And *CANT BREATHE* @ “shoot yourself in the foot and say your best friend is the one that shot ya”
BEST POST EVER…
We salute you in the brook N.O.R.E. even before popa passed he was telling niggaz he wasn’t getting his due…
