Poppin Or Floppin: Reaction Band – Gucci Bandana
I’m out in D.C. and of course the vibe and radio is way different then NY. They big on, “Go-Go,” music out here which stands out with the use of drums and percussion instruments. Every time I put on the radio the song above is playing, so I’m assuming it is the hottest song out here right now. Leave your thoughts on the track and Go-Go music, another example of, “Go-Go,” is below(Wale – Nike Boots). In NY you hear, “Brooklyn Go Hard,” every few minutes, I have yet to hear it out here.

Oh I heard this on the radio when I went for the inauguration. It’s cool, I can’t listen to it all day tho…. “They love me out in DC just like Go Go”

Shit is thrash, that shit will never pop in NY…

Yo the radio here is just like radio everywhere else: they play what’s “hot” not necessarily the best shit. That’s not even the best representation of Go-Go music. That’s just what the kids listen to. (11-19)

I think NY peeps consistently put out good music. Our stuff doesn’t sound like retarded crap. Even our non lyrical artists joints are good. I mean, can anyone say Maino. Not the most lyrical rapper, but his music ain’t complete garbage. When i go to the clubs in DC, i just wanna shoot myself.

Damn RealTalk, you can’t come to the district , and pick two songs and say “whats your opinion of go-go”
do a little bit of research and try to put people on to WHY its different in DC than it is in NYC.
DC don’t follow trends, u came here and said it yourself in your post.
Everything from the radio to the clubs is 100% different from anywhere else.
I wouldnt even say “Nike Boots” is a go-go song at all.
at the very least i hope you got a tour guide who aint a lame – u might be going to spots that dont give you that authentic dc feel. dream and h20 is tourist spots – go to a real go-go and holla back.

Just like my man yung digi, Black King said earlier that is a bad representation of go-go with that song. I dont even like that song and I been born and raised off go-go music. And Wales Nike Boots is far from a go-go song. I dont ever like him myself, hes just the one who one the front line for the urea right now.
Its not for everybody just like anyother rapper or song. If you like live bands and the atmosphere your in when you go to a show and these females going crazy to the music, you cant help but just to party when your at a show.
The two bands that i listen to and go out to shows right now are What? Band and Familar Faces. Back in the day it use to be the Backyard Band Junkyard Band and the Rare Essense Band who use to party hard if you want to do some research.

the thing about go-go is that it is a culture and the reason people in dc love it so much is because the bands are representing them; like when you hear reaction saying 31-31, Killand, Sandbox, and Wildboyz throw it up; those are hoods and gangs. So of course if a wildboy hears reaction putting them on he probably will like the song (its music by the people for the people). Also it is loud gangsta party music, so DC loves it! When you play it loud, you can’t help but get hyped!
