The Cool - the worst album of all nominated. This one is the John McCain amongst the Barrack Obama’s.
Paper Trail - Promised so much but was a big let down, at least it was better than TI vs TIP, thankfully. I dont know if it was better than The Cool, but takes it on hit factor.
Untitled aka Nigga/Nigger - His bowing to executive pressure in the naming of the album killed his chances indefinetly. Takes itself too seriously sometimes.
American Gangter - A close second based solely on Jays superior lyrics but musically lost out to the eventual winner. A few gems in ‘Blue Magic’, ‘I Know’ and ‘Roc Boys’. But no enough to get the win. One of his best though.
Tha Carter III - Lyrically not as good as American Gangster but musically superior to ther rest. ‘You Aint Got Nuthin’, ‘A Milli’, ‘3 Peat’ and ‘Tie My Hands’ are amongst the best songs of the year. This album was both fun and deep and was undoubtedly the best album of the year.

To be completely honest I think Jay deserves it, but Lupe is a very close second. However, they did snub TIP with King, which was unbelievable and a song with Rihanna can do wonders. Don’t be surprised to see TIP walk off with this one.

If American Gangster is to be considered than it is definitely album of the year. I thought it came out in 07, I don’t really know how these awards work though.. lol.

Nas-Untiled, the album was deep and fuck you if you think Nas’ name is for show! These lil no bodies act think they have some insight into Nas! Always trying to discredit Nas at all cost! The man can’t do or get praised for shit without lil no bodies tryig to act like he does not deserve to be on this list along with all the other artist. Even Lupe stated on his website that Nas’ Untitled was dope as hell- he wrote a whole blog about how Nas can’t be fuck with!

I would Have 2 say that Jay-Z’s American Gangster was the best rap album of the year(best rap album since Late Late Registration and Be). A lot of the lyrics Jay-Z says goes over people’s head.(I you haven’t herd every album all the way through that’s on this list, you should say any thing). 4 someone 2 say that Lil Wayne had the hottest rap album of the year, that would have 2 mean he had the only album out. I don’t he sold a million his first week. He hasn’t put out anything that has caught my ear since the dedication 2. And even then, he wasn’t the best rapper. He was good but not great.
I’m also tired of people bringing up Jay’Z age. So the fuck wat. He still top five dead or alive now. And 4 ever will b. I’m not kissin ass, I’m just statin the facts. I’ll b suprised if wayne can make better rap album than Jay’Z’s the Dynasty, let alone blueprint. If he wins rap album of the year, I will never buy another rap album.

1. American Gangster: top 5 Jay albums of all time
2. The Cool: Lupe’s lyrics continue to improve
3. Paper Trail: Top 3 albums in TI’s carrer
4. Untitled: Straight up Classic
5. Carter 3: Most successful, but in all honesty… IT SUCKED comapared to previous work.

Lupe’s album was kinda boring,I didnt replay it to much after like a month
Jay had a very very dope album.Lyrically and the beats were hot.
T.I.’s album was ight.Had a couple of joints but nothing replay worthy except for maybe swagger like us or ready for whatever
Wayne’s album was great,maybe not lyrically crazy as the other 3.But concept wise and entertainment wise.Carter 3 takes the cake.It had songs for every body from dr carter to lollipop to tie my hands.It was a diverse great album
Imma go wit Weezy.he had a great year.sold a milli in a week and had a great album.

T.I. album was good, but no way a winner among these 3. Lil Wayne’s The Carter 3 was very over-hyped and by far should not appear on the list. People are dick-riding it because it went PLATINUM during these music-industry-recession. If he had bare;y went GOLD we would not be seeing this recognition. Album was subpar at best, and no way better than The Carter 1 or 2.
LUPE should win and if not, Jay Z for a great conceptual album.

Every song is a banger on American Gangster except maybe for Sweet. sweeeettttt it’s the party life. It’s like a whole movie just listening to the album. It has a storyline, a beginning, a climax and an ending.
