New Year’s Eve Is A Day Of Reflection
With 2008 coming to an end, I want people to comment on how this year went for them. From the highs(visiting RealTalkNY) to the lows. What were some highlights for this year and how did this year compare to others?
Also if you have any new year resolutions, feel free to post them. Everybody is going to have to get on thier grind in 2009 with the recession probably getting worse before it gets better.

Happy New Year. 2008 has been a transformational year, both good and bad. Firstly it is very refreshing (as a foreigner) to see Obama elected into the white house. As an African who has lived all around the world (currently in Toronto) i know how hard it is for the black guy with the funny name to make it. I guess i have walked away with a renewed sense of hope in this world and america, so i must congratulate you on that. However as fast as i get to enjoy this hope, it is is taken away and we end the year at a really low point in humanity. After 8 months of relative peace in the Gaza Strip, Israel has started bombing Gaza and Hamas keeps launching Rockets into israel, both sides killing innocent people. If only there was a Obama in every nation, who could bring people together like he has done in the USA, and inspire an entire generation positively, this world would be a better place. I pray that 2009 is a progressive year, for black people, indian people, arabs, jews, asians and whatever colour you may be, lets grow in the spirit of humanity. (a little corny but hey) Happy New Year.

I had a great year business wise, I got a raise in pay as well as pushing our startup into become $2,000 a month profit…Personal wise.. I wasted allot of time with the wrong person in a relationship which i completely regret, but it is what it is. Right now, i have my eye on someone im going to find out right away at the beginning of the year if she is down for me or not. I dont want to waste 6 months of my life all over again.
With that being said.. Barack got me Focus. If anything him being elected for me, has got me thinking like i need to take my life to tha next level which is raising the bar for myself career wise and also seriously starting a family and buying a home with a picket fence.. Real Talk..
MY RESOLUTION:. become a Microsoft Certified Application Developer and write/deliver/develop 5-10 web applications.

Happy New Year People! 08 was bitter sweet from seeing the first black president elected to watching the recession tumbling our economy. Personally the fourth quarter of 08 was full of shit because i got hit with random charges that stand til this day. In 09 will definitely be a change from the swagger to the mental. Think differently and your actions will change as well. As far a being better try this quote “better is not what we do or how we live but better is who we are”. I made my New Year’s Resolution back in October. I made the resolution to stop waiting to January 1st to start resolving things that can begin ASAP.

Its been a great year even though it doesn’t feel like it. After a year of fuckin up, I came back strong str8 out da gate and raped every exam in January . definitely some lil missteps academically but then agen was it really? I feel pretty sharp on the business side of things and besides the lil adversities still ended up rapin everything this year ending.
Polaco came thru. twas a very… I dnt even know what to call that. We stole this niggaz car and floored the shit every str8 road we came on lmao. Now we orderin some Chinese I leave this in the car only for him to start flippin switches lmao dumfuck. Im upstairs arguing with this bitch tellin me she didn’t get our order. suddenly an alarm goes off, I just knew he was doin some dumb shit lol *smh* head down im like fuck this I aint got papers or nuttin and left my driver’s license. Dat whole thing was big but we got away wit it so clean that I it doesn’t even stand out in my mind. got me wantin to learn Spanish and shit tho, which I will soon enuff.
Met a lot of pretty girls this year, dat tho definitely got my mind right. Telling me most of them are dumbdumbz *smh* well… ok… in a different term; “you cant judge a book by its cover”(except me of course lmao). This one dumbdumb I dnt kno.. I think i really like her. she’s weird as fuck tho but she kinda had me in her world for a minute. Theres so many beautiful girls out there, everybody likes pretty but im slowly startin to value wats on the inside even more. Lack of self confidence for one turns me off but ironically it also attracts me. Too much of anything is bad the old folks wud say.
I’ve been in 2 police chases with these taxi men, been fucked over meanin dropped half way, nigga pulled a Crocodile Dundee knife *smh* some crazy shit man. It might sound fucked up but I hate seeing poor; its uninspiring and I cant picture myself in that situation dat wud be suicide. Went to 2 parties this whole year, 3 if you count new years last year. Most of the better girls hardly party anyway. Was a very productive move imo, I got more important shit to deal with and focus on. I cant get that fuckin beach house outa my head im no where near it but it feels like I cud almost touch it, im hungry niggaz. my trip was half fun I didn’t like ATL much. In o8 I see a rise of criminals and thugs using youtube lol shits kinda funny lol.
I give this year a 6.5 outa 10, in o9 I dnt expect academics to be a problem I bought several different text books this Christmas I intend on reading. I dnt intend on spending a dime b4 june I got a ridiculous goal to reach lmao and im not sure wat summer looks like yet. Gotta set up a hustle for next September. Im also hopin to cuff a fine lady next year too, im aimin for a 10 out of 10 for 09. Happy new year bitches!!! GOOD LUCK!!!DREAM BIG!!!!

My new years resolutions are to ace grad school in ‘09.
Meet some nice guys (broke up with my shorty 3 days ago, found out he was engaged with a baby on the way…Great! Merry Xmas to me).
Step my energy up. I can get really relaxed, especially when the weather is cold.
Continue to focus on current events.
Making our new president happy and encouraging my fellow people to do the same by being positive and responsible human beings.
Not allowing this recession to affect my mental (because its hitting me, bump that I’m keeping it real)
Oh, and to only hit up realtalkNY.net ONCE a day (its addictive I tell ya).
My people, we comment on things (bafoonery and serious topics) but we REALLY have to do better in ‘09. Sometimes the stuff I see on the streets, in the clubs and on the Net makes me dizzy. Barack reports to work in 3 weeks. Let’s stand with him.

Thank god 4 08′ but I hope 09′ brings me more blessings! I’d like to thank REALTALKNY 4 this platform to allow me to vent alongside of my peers. Picked up a really good job in 08′. Ran through one car, now I’m on my 2nd for the year. Prolly made the most $ this year that I ever did. Ran thru several gurls, 2 girlfreinds and goin into 09′ as a single man. Currently am feeling stressed the F out contemplating what the next move is gonna be. Sometimes job security is not appealing enough for the young and gifted. I wanna fly in 09′ and I don’t mean literally. I was blessed to witness Obama and Change this year. All things are possible for a black man in this country….go get it!. I was thinking about my New Year resolution, what could it be I thought? Stop eating so much sugar? being more patient? Wouldn’t be nice if everyone made their resolution for 2009 not so much about themselves but for all. So I decided that this New Year resolution for me is to reach out more to others, help those that need it and to those who don’t. I hope that 2009 is the year that people start making changes that impact the world.
I also thought would’nt it be nice to start a chain and have everyone write there own resolution for the world and see how many we can get by midnight. Write down your resolution and put it in your pocket to remind yourself of the changes you hope for. If we all do this, then by 2010 this world may be a much kinder and beautiful place. Just think about how some of the smallest things we do, a simple smile to a stranger or a helping hand to someone, how that impacts that person. Don’t we all have a memory of a kind gesture from a stranger? Anyways please pass this along and see what comes of it. Again i wish everyone a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year

Once again a new year
