50 is new york its a true fact…

take 50’s sales…

then take all the southernn artist sales together and add em up
and 50 still sells more records..and has more power than the whole south put together

50’s the only representation of hiphop on the east coast..
and the fact that people hate on him so bad is never gonna help new york get on top

Because he has wrecked ny rap to the fullest and destroyed this genre at the worst level since the early 90’s, he’s about image and looks and less about music and substance, this is why NY will never be what is was again, until we get rid of this clown and restore faith.

I think one of the reasons New York rap is not relevant right now because we live in a time where things are see through. People can see through dudes who swear they bodied 13 guys in a song and hold weight from Cali to Louisiana. People just want music they can MOVE to. Music they can enjoy. Yes, lyrically New York always held the bar, but there is only so many ways you can rap about guns, bitches, and cash. And when a nigga can go on YouTube and see you wearing the same shit two days in a row eatin cookies at ya moms crib shit just don’t fly. The south lifted the weight of that act and just gave everybody the opportunity to have A GOOD FUCKING TIME. If New York can’t do that, no matter how many syllables, metaphors, analogies, etc… they will forever be irrelevant.

hahahahaha………yall niccas kill me glad i’m a little older and really know how new york hand-cuffed hip hop and only a few artists in the late 80’s and 90’s would venture past new york and embrace other regions….the south goes back to 2live crew,geto boys,poison clan,suave house,no limit,like the west coast goes back to 2 short,quik,comptons most wanted,king t,nwa etc…but most if not all ny rappers or mainstream tv shows like yo mtv raps and rap city showed little to no love, and we won’t even speak on the lack of reprensentation for the midwest,well all these regions banned together and really took offense to ny’s arrogance as displayed at the 95 source awards ,where every region other than ny was basically spit on that night, and me like every other person from a different region never forgot that, so now what you see is in the immortal words of one new yorks most famous citizens …it’s just chickens come home to rooost

Kind of have to agree. I’m from VA now living in MD and I think the south is a lil too dependent on each other anf they use that so called “UNITY” to cover up for the lack of talent. So as long as niggaz show up in each others videos and spit verses on the same song that thats all they need in order to hold the crown. And if thats the true formula then its working but the music itself sucks big time. I mean with the usual exception like Luda, TI and Outkast… most of this southern music is wack and boring. Same ol concepts, same ol sounds, same ol ATL in this bitch, hip hop lives in the south… bla bla bla. The one thing I can respect about NY is that they are too honest. lol… They wont support garbage as much as ATL would. All for the sake of unity. I mean its cool when I’m watching a video to see all the ATL niggaz wering they hats and sht but can I listen to your music without the video? Thats up in the air. And let me say this… the bar was set so high in the 90’s… even for the south that the reason why some of us still “live in the past too much” is cuz the past was so damn good. Its not our fault that so many classics were released during that time period. I like classics… I’m sorry if I offend anyone… But I love good music… and right now with the exception of a few the south aint givin the game that… As big and bold as yall are it should be more than TI and Luda givin consistantly good music. I mean all this talk about NY aint got it no more and sht… I mean… Of course NY wont ever be the same again but NY still poppin… NY’s had some HUGE hits over the past few years. But no one ver wants to talk about those. Make me Better was a huge record. So was Roc Boys. So was This Is Why Im Hot and so is Jada’s new joint right now. So NY still has artists that make big records. Theres just sumthin that aint right in NY. I’m not sure of 9/11 was the turning point or whatever but its obvious NY is lacking sumthin. Maybe unity… I dunno… But every place has their turn and the reason y I believe the south is doin well right now is cuz theres so many places down there. And it is the bigget region. I mean if u think about it… is it surprising tat the south that has 5 or 6 cities is selling the most records at the moment. New York is once city compared to 6 cities. And yet NY is still the Mecca of the whole music industry. Why would TI, Luda and Jeezy think about having a concert in NY before ATL. Cuz in NY thats where u really make your name. Kanye West first got put on when he produced Jiggas joint. And even Snoop felt the need to knock down NY’s buildings… Just to take his coast to the next level. And all these people down south that think all NYers are hatin on them needs to take a chill pill. I love southern music and I love the movement down there but sumtimes yall do act a lil too sensitive and think everyone up top is always talkin sht about you. Its a load of bs in reality. The south aint really shit right now anyway besides Wayne, TIP and Jeezy. Luda too. Hip hop sales are suffering everywhere. Not just in NY. So dont even turn it around and say that NY is the only city that aint sellin cuz the last time I checked Jay Z and 50 cent are two of hip hop’s major sellers right now. Like how TI and Jeezy are ATL’s and Wayne is New Orleans.

Djs play a part of this too cause when I go to clubs they play that bullshit music. When I go downsouth they play Jay Z and I’m the only person dancing I asked a girl why they are not dancing they said they can’t dance to that but we can dance to yall shit. Did yall see BET awards when WU Tang was on stage they acted like they didn’t know them I’m threw with HIP HOP. BET and Hot 97 are murderers!!!!!!!!

And it’s New York’s fault that they lost the reputation for producing reputable Hip-Hop. At the time when other artists from other regions started making that good Hip-Hop,ie Outkast, Goodie Mob, Dre, Snoop,etc. and started reppin’ what they do in their neck of the woods, like Cash Money, No Limit, Slip-N-Slide, NY was on some real B$@#S*&! for real with all that 1-2-3 jingle, glime and rhyme crap. People naturally migrate to what’s artistic and authentic, so they started looking to other regions for it, while NY cats were just raping and pillaging, the music, the culture….so they lost it and are trying to come back still singing that wack ish, and that’s why NY is STILL losing.

Think about it…the ONLY reason Hip-Hop started making BILLIONS is due to those artist that made the people with the money fall in love with the art form. The very same artists rappers today try to play out as old, outdated, and yesterday, but the music made is stamped in infamy. Those albums will be around for as long as their is a history of Hip-Hop and will always be heralded as great, while your kids will duck their head in shame. The real reason records aren’t selling is because during the late 90’s early 00’s people got tired of buying an album with three good songs on it. That’s not what they were used to getting, that’s not what they signed up for, so the piracy began.

P.S. The other regions better take heed because they are dangerously close to committing the very same sin. They are getting just as watered down and, ‘my-first-hit-rhymish’ right along with everyone else.
