Roy Jones Jr. Takes An L From Joe Calzaghe(Time To Retire?)
The Rest Of The Fight
I know it is hard for people to leave the game when their prime, but once you see a decline in talent it is best to leave the game and count your blessings.

Joe Calzaghe was always going to win this fight, no doubt about it

I thought Jones would win after knocking down Calzaghe in the first round. But Joe dominated after that. Jones won’t retire but I doubt we see him win many big fights ever again.

I dont know…. I am sorry to see Roy Jones throw away his legacy like that. I mean he is a verry talented fighter who has no and I repeat no heart. If you are a tru champion and you do not have the heart to fight and risk getting knocked the fuck out then i dont know what the point of fighting is. The dude went in the fight not caring if he won or lost.
I lost so much respect for him. I prefer Floyd.

roy jones was dominant for several years. i am surprised that he knocked the dude down. roy was never has known as a hard puncher. roy has been washed up for years. is he still better than most fighters? yes. 5 years ago, he prolly would have murked this guy but his skills has severly diminished. time for him to get a hbo analyst job and workout/train on his spare time.

^^^ I totally agree. Watching that fight was like watching your favorite cartoon hero get bet up by the bad guys. Roy dominant for soooo long many would consider him to be one of the best pound for pound boxer 7 years ago. He hasn’t be the same since Tarver knocked him out.

It’s sad that Roy is still fighting. 10 years ago he was unstoppable. He’s been over the hill for about 5 years now. Getting KO’D by Tarver and Johnson was not a good look and he hasn’t looked the same ever sense. Not taking away anything from Calzaghe who’s a great fighter but this is not a prime Roy anymore. Let the old man retire

People have to take into account that Calzaghe is not in his prime as well so Roy has no excuses. Joe is getting on and this could be his last fight. End of the day, Calzaghe is 45 wins from 45 fights. Will be one of only four fighters to retire undefeated in boxing history. Give the man his dues.

Up next… Chad Dawson, some say best boxer pound 4 pound. Who’s gonna be man enough to sign the next contract, Calzaghe… Hopkins?
Stop holdin this kid back they need mandatory unification bouts if nothin else…SOMETHIN!!!

it’s a big difference between Calzaghe and Roy whn it comes to not being a prime fighter. Roy looks like an old man nowadays. The speed reflexes stamina everything is just average nowadays. He’s far from the fighter he once was. Calzaghe is pretty much the same. The speed is there and still throws 1000 punches just like he did 5-6 years ago. Roy has been shot for awhile now and should retire else he’s only hurting his legacy
