Damon Dash Says Kanye Hate Jay-Z For Not Giving Him A Rocafella Chain
“This n- [Kanye ] was like, ‘Wow. [Jay-Z] ain’t going to give me the chain,’” Dash alleges in December’s Complex magazine. “I had to take off my chain and give it to him, and I was heated. I had the real canary diamonds. That s- cost $40,000! I told Kanye, ‘Yo, you got to give that back when we get off this stage!’”
Dash contends that after Jay-Z violated the code of hip-hop chivalry, “Kanye hated Jay-Z.”
But a rep for Kanye tells us the story is “ridiculous and totally false.”

Anyone buying this story? Is this just a attempt to get some buzz? The fact that it took so long for him to mention it is suspect but even Kanye mad it clear his big brother wasn’t too big on him back in the days. I can’t blame Dame for being bitter about Kanye leaving him for Jay-Z, but talking about this stuff now is pointless.

Well at the end of the day, each of these cats have made their own share of steady bitch moves. Granted, I dont know insider details except for what I’ve read about or heard in the music.
Jay seems like he’ll drop anybody quick as long as he makes the most money that he can possibly make out of it. Between the sale of Rocafella and Rocawear and the whole list of artists that he slept on while he was a head dude at Def Jam, I’d party with Jay, I’d learn from him, but I dont think i’d make any deals with him. He says he’s never took a dime from anybody, but why take a dime when you making millions off them in the first place?
Kanye was cool as fuck on his first few albums. He was making his rounds and seemed to be Mr. HipHop for the moment, but his ego got bigger and his skirt got shorter. He’s exposing himself for being a real bitch these days. Whining and complaining and crying and shit. Come on, dude. Well I kan understand how Kanye “might” have felt. Maybe he wanted his own chain. Ok that is fair. But when he it was announced that he was made apart of the Rocafella family, he took the chain with no issue. And I dont blame him. No doubt, Pharard. But in regards to Jay, he did his thing at Rocafella. Everybody was eating, so it made sense to put him at Def Jam. But he slept on the artists he was suppose to push. He dropped Kingdom Come and American Gangster while he was suppose to be dropping money on promo for other cats. He mightve push Rihanna and Ne-Yo. But he didnt push no rappers. Its like he didnt want no competition out there. He was hired to make sure everybody ate, but ever since he broke off with Dame and them, he’s been the only one eating and giving everybody else crumbs and trying to make it look like he did more than that. Come on, B. Method Man, Redman, LL, Joe Budden? Really dope rappers who needed a label to push em. The reason Rihanna made it over Teria Marie is because Rihanna’s managment team is on point they had the girl running around the country like crazy promoting that first album and then had her put out 2 more albums in like a year and a half after that. Kanye West shot that “Through The Wire” video with 40,000 dollars of his own out of pocket money and shopped it around to MTV and BET without any help from Jay or Dame and he put out that Get Well Soon mixtape by himself and got his name buzzing. How many mixtapes did Method Man, Redman, LL, and Joe Budden drop to keep there name in the street? Joe Buddens is an expection becasue of that death in his family but the rest of those niggas where sitting on there asses waiting for the lable to push them without talking any inishative of there own. I got respect for all those dudes but they needed to make some big moves of there own look at Kanye, Lil Wayne and Ludacris they don’t sit around and wait for a lable to motivate them they do that shit on there own and make the lable chase them not the other way around.

thats how it is nowadays, but its fucked up how rappers show loyalty to the labels and the labels today dont do shit in return. Hiphop isnt gonna die because of the type of music coming out or the rappers. Theres tons of ill rappers out there, u just gotta dig for em. Hiphop is gonna eventually fail because of label bullshit and politics. The greedy got rich, the humble and modest suffered. Consider hiphop like AIG or the Big 3 automakers. Only thing is the government dont give a fuck bout hiphop, so dont expect a bailout for us. Labels just kept mass producing gas guzzlers (young joc, yung berg, Mims, Soulja Boy), they’re hot for a minute and look all flashy and shit, but you cant bankroll longevity on that. And when you mass produce that kind of shit, you end up with a surplus on the lot. Labels shouldve focused on their fuel efficient hybrids (Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Method Man, Dead Prez), its a better investment for the future of the music.

Dude I said I respect them all as artist this has nothing to do with the quality of there music but when was the last time you hear Method Man or Redman feature on a record or on a mixtape. When I was in highschool the album they put out was the bigest thing in hip hop now I feel like I haven’t seen those niggas in years.(I know Redman was on that 88-Keys album)

Thanks to the internet the lable system is pretty much dead if you look at what Madonna did with her album. She and her company pressed the albums by themselfs at a loss because they knew she was gonna make there money on the tour she didn’t need album sales she got ticket sales to make her money on. Radiohead released the album on the internet only and ask the fans to pay whatever they wanted for a download and they made more of a profit then if they had gone through a lable. These hip-hop artist need to get on board this shit and relize they don’t need these lables. 50 Cent doesn’t need Interscope he’s got engouh of a following to do all that shit himsefl so why should Jimmy Iven get a cut?
Trust me in 5-10 years all these lables Island Def Jam, Insterscope, EMI ect will all be dead and the music industry will be alot better for it.
