Jim Brown Puts Micheal Jordan & Kobe Bryant On Blast
“Athletes need to represent more than that just getting a big contract and lots of endorsements,” he says. “Take Michael Jordan. To me, he’s full of bull. He’s hiding his true self. All he cares about is getting ahead, being popular and enjoying the wealth of this country. Same with Kobe Bryant. For them, it’s all about making money and doing all the commercials.”
“Sports is detrimental to the development of culture if all you’re willing to do is enjoy the fruits of this country,” he says. “You’ve got to reinvest in the culture, not just exploit it. Today people just want non-combative heroes, who smile and say all the right things. That’s fine, but that doesn’t mean you have to play the fool and shake your butt just because you caught a pass for a touchdown.”

Do you agree or disagree with Jim Brown’s comments? I feel like sports figures aren’t obligated to be role models and what they choose to do with their money is their business. People would hope that they are generous and give back, but if they don’t you can’t fault them.

Jim Brown needs to just worry about what hes doing, and what hes doing in the community is a good and positive thing, dont go calling out other athletes about what they do or can do with their celebrity…i mean really i would say he should be more mature about the situation… but how old is he sixty-seventy something???

Whether they like it or not they ARE rolemodels but that doesn’t mean they can’t do whatever they want with their money. They can life the type of lifestyle they want. As long as they aren’t doing anything illegal then it’s cool.

First of all, I couldnt agree more with Jim Brown.MJ has always been a coon, and facts can back it up.He made that choice once he signed an indorsement with Nike that his goal is to only sell the most sneakers. The same thing can be said with Lebronze, but not fully when it comes to Kobe. Kobe has the most community outreach programs and service than any active athlete today. He’s one of the few that spoke out regarding darfur, and one of the first one who help Hurricane Katrina victims. The man didnt just signed a check, he went out of his way to meet victims and cater to them. Has Kobe slowed down when it comes to voicing his opinion? Yes, because of Nike and David Stern. If basketball fans doesnt know that David Stern is the puppet master, well now you know.Figure out what happened to Craig Hodges, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Etan Thomas, Ira Newble etc. Then you will realized what happend when you stand for something politically and socially. I disagree with ya’ll sentiment to just make money and do you. Thats the same sentiment to why our community is the way it is because those that make it and given an opportunity loses themselves and their soul.

Thanks to Brother Jim Brown to always say his piece even with so much against him. And yes, those that make have an obligation to their community and to their ancestors to always go back and help.If you’re all about money and consume the invaluable things this world has to offer.Im going to tell you, theres a bigger power out there that will check you, remember that.

They don’t need to give back and we don’t need to support them! I’m not sayin I don’t support michael or kobe but I understand Mr. brown and agree with him!
Actually he’s a great example of someone who was able to play sports be an entertainer and still be a vital part of the black community!
funny thing is these stars with money ignore rebuildin a black infrastructure (which they would pofit off of) jus to continually invest and strengthen the established infrastructure…smh! damn shame!

fuck that shit they can do whatever they want they worked hard to get that money and if they wanna give back thats up to them. Because when regular ppl make some money no1 looks to them to donate its the same shit. you dont have to be a millionair to give back.

its about to be a wrap though too many people feedin into the 7 deadly sins esp. greed and glutony! All this do what you want with the money talk is jus keepin the cycle goin because someone else didn’t do for me(whether they could or couldn’t) i refuse to do for others. If you see somethings wrong and you pass that on it’s wrong period. I try to treat the folks who come after me better than I was treated by my predecessors!

Jim Brown is broke old azz man! So he being a hater right now.
MJ does a lot for the kids. Dude does a lot for communities..so WTF is that OLD MAN JB talking about? He just a hater…….

Michael Jordan is a great role model and has done alot for kids everywhere. He has given to various charities and donations, set up traning camps and scholarships. What does his contract w/ nike have to do with anything? Where i come SOME kids wear jordans because they wana play ball like’em and grow up to accomplish what has. Giving kids a dream or goal other than being out in the streets. Yea the shoes can be a bit expensive, but they represent quality of the his character and the brand. Or would you rather have your kid being clowned for wear’n sum Shaq”s, talkn bout eatn a$$??? I dont think so!! Jim Brwn is a hater, feel’n a lil salty. How was he looking out for the youth whn he made that wack a$$ movies w/ braxton and pam grier? Horrible mess! Mike had something for the kids…Space jam

Kobe and MJ give back to they hometown and with Charities. Jim brown need to go HOLLA @ pacman jones, T.O. T.O. soooo STUCK ON HISSELF. Keyshawn Johnson made a point 1 time he sayed that if T.O. rather playing be “MVP of the super bowl losing team…then just catch 3 balls and win a super”.
October 14th, 2008 at 7:31 am
Need to go CONFRONT pacman jones. PACMAN doesnt get it next time he messes up he GO FOR LIFE from the NFL. Kobe n Mike never been in trouble with the police 13 times.

Jim Brown is so right. But most of you are to blind to see that.

I think Jim Brown has a point. Atheletes have a social responisibilty to the public becasue some of the things they do have a direct affect on the community. This is especially true of black Atheletes. They sell us thier jereseys, thier high tops, fast food. They live a freedom that most black people in this country (with the exception of entertainers and black fortune five hundreds) can only dream of. Is it asking too much of them to take on some social-politico stand on young black males shooting each other of basket ball shoes, or promote healthy eating and eating less McDonalds, maybe open a grocery store or twon in low income black communities? Yes I know Shaq and Marbury have shoes at payless

Jim Brown could not be more correct !
October 14th, 2008 at 9:31 am
He’s basically telling athletes to do the jobs mothers and fathers are not doing and help raise they children.
My thing is he should be dropping this message on regular folks cuz really I dont wanna hear shit Kwayme Brown has to say about politics or any other worldly or community issues.
Play ball, donate money back into community/charity and keep ya mouth shut. Nothing worse than an uninformed athlete tryna kick knowledge. Lord knows these is all D students.
