i agree with the article for the most part as far as sports figures being more than just athletes and also how they have a tremendous amount of influence on the minds of the youth. but i will say in defense of athletes and celebrities in general, it’s kind of a double edge sword. if they dont broadcast what they do for the community and for the youth, they get chastised for not being good role models, but if they run and tell everybody that they are doing all sorts of things for the community, they’re judged for doing it not from the goodness of their heart, but as a publicity stunt. it’s sad, but in some ways it’s a lose lose situation.

black people have their priorties all wrong. all they think about is money. just money. they dont care how they get it as long as they have it. and it is not their responsibilty to invest in the culture. they dont have to do anything. i really dont care what some 7foot tall dumb jock has to say to the president about his tax plan. maybe musicians since talking and spreading messages is apart of the business they are in. but not athletes
