Grandmaster Flash Speaks On How The New School Can Help The Old

Unlike other genres Hip Hop is quick to call people old and outdated. I don’t know how that mentality will change or if today’s top artist would care to help rap’s pioneers.

damn jay is the big 40 this year hate it when the rappers get old same with boxers i want them to stay in their prime forever but thats not how it works. I think Nas will forever be rapping even when he 80 he just love hip hop that much.

  3. Dee Says:

Not respecting or knowing hip hop history and it’s artists is why so many older hip hop acts feel slighted and bitter.

Nothing wrong with change, but you got to know the principles of hip hop and not just be about the money.

I remember watching Birdman on MTV one time, and he was given a hip hop quiz, dude only got like 1 out of 5 questions right! His defense was something like, mannnn that stuff is old i don’t fuck with that.

  4. Ahijah Says:

Why did you include Birdman and Fat Joe ? who the fuck listens to them ? age don’t matter it’s what you bring to the table that counts.

  5. mateo Says:

that might work in other genres but not in a relatively black owned industry. niggas are too greedy to share the wealth and too stupid to really know how to maximize their oppurtunities. black people dont really fuck with each other like that. too much of a me and myself attitude. they are not going to seek help of the pioneer but they will continously use the bridges they built as highways and not show recognition just want to get they money and bounce.

  6. hiphop Says:

im tired of ppl complaining about hiphop or ppl describing where it come from what it is or what it should be..ppl talkin about newshool or old school or which one is better..or who’s the best rapper alive etc…ppl should just make their music and let it be what it is

  7. Dallas Playa Says:

Hiphop music is still a pretty new genre that’s why we aren’t used to see so many older rappers but all that will change in the future cause hiphop is here to stay. This is really the first generation where kids are growing up with parents who grew up with hiphop. That’s how new this genre is.

For example, when Rock was new it was only the young ppl who where into it. The older generation said it was the devils music and would go away. Rock was something that was considered for young ppl ONLY and when you get older you grow up and do somethnig else. Did that happen? NO…all those older rock dudes and rock fans you see today where once those kids that were told you’re not going to be listening to this type of music when you get older but they are still here.

The same thing will happen with hiphop. The music you’re grow up with usually stays with you one way or another. 20-30 years from now you’ll see a lot of older cats both fans and artist bumping their head to some hiphop ish. I’m 22 and 30 years from now I’ll probably be one of those cats lol.

Diddy on the other hand will be 39 on November 4.

  11. Rump Says:

  12. damnliberals Says:

Once again the black culture gets exploited and has cries wolf like the white liberals they follow. We have the legend Grandmaster Flash, who weeks earlier said John McCain was to old to run for president but now he is at a ‘leftist’ BS hip-hop function were old school rappers want ‘handouts’ for there misuse of $. It’s no lie that Grandmaster Flash was a crack head and that’s a true story…He has and had plenty of opportunity to earn coin and did but his ‘dependency’ on others and substance abuse has destroyed his pockets….Mr. Flash, no one owes you nothing, in fact, you sound so selfish it’s unreal. You sound like your begging for a handout. You were one of the lucky one’s who actually was given a chance at a dream so many have gave there lives for to never have that opportunity. Mr. Flash, grow up and move on. Stopping begging for a hand out, Move on with your life like Mike G from the Jungle Brothers did. Learn from him and go back to school and get a degree and join the working class of America like the rest of us. You sound like a socialist idiot! Hip-Hop use to be a music of freedom of choice but now it has turn into a communistic sound…We have rich entertainers who make millions but praise being poor…LOL…….Yeah right, when Obama gets in office Mr.Jay-Z, P.Diddy and others will be paying 50% of their income to the government to redistribute to lazy people who cry for hand outs like Mr.Flash……..(Now let’s see if RealTalkNY prints this comment)
