kanye is one of those elite artist that are a brand, and when your a brand people wil buy your shit no matter what just because its a product with your name on, it doesnt matter if the quality isnt up to its usual standard.. Thats the reason why kanye feels he has the artist license to make a whole album using the vocoder.. Whil I agree fully with what you said, in principle, I’ll have to disagree with this case.
I DO like the direction Kanye is taking. He’s basically blurring the lines of the genres and experimenting with new sounds. Let’s be serious the entire theme of the album is “Heartbreak” and to be frank, if one were to rap about heartbreak for an album it would be a little corny because it’s something WAY outside the subject matter of hip-hop, whereas heartbreak and R&B go hand in hand.

if kanye was your homeboy, i think you’d respect the fact that he’s going outside of his element.

he proved to us he can produce and rap and create a quality album.

he went against all that gangsta shit.

now he’s trying a new avenue. some say he sucks at it… but hey, i’d rather him experiment and hear everyones criticism and see where he can take it from here.

kanye never said fuck the past… this is prolly just his zone where he NEEDS this in order to make some dope shit in the future.

i think music is in a GOOD state for him to be experimenting.

Nah man that shit was hot…at the end of the day u cant take away that kanye is already a great rapper. So what if he wants to sing, as long as he does it with integrity. Love Lockdown was terrible, but I actually like this one. This lil snippet has made me rethink if im gonna buy his album just to see what he has on there, he may shock the world. But that song was very well written, and easy to relate to. He did his thing.
