    Now see how she look wit that fro? How many of y’all can honsetly say y’all thought she was fine right there? Y’all would not be claiming Alicia if she stepped to y’all fro’d out the game like dat. The only thing fine on her is her hair thats about it. She couldn’t even play in a movie wit a fro and not look like herself. Hell, Halle Berry played a smoker in Losing Isiah and she looked more like herself than Alicia did in this movie, just a more.. I just woke the fuck up lookin Halle. That’s natural beauty. I bet Young Berg is gon faint when he sees this clip….Oh LMAO right now.

    let me just say i LOVE the secret life of bees! it is really sweet and heartfelt and really touches on some of the complexities of being a black woman, or woman in general…

    this book was based in the 60’s so the hairstyle that a.keys is rockin is just a tribute to that era, so yeah pick up a book sometime before u open your mouth. thanks

    @texasgal

    Your probably one of the types that watches a movie and then decides to go read the book…..ass backwards. The comment I made has nothing to do with the era. And while your talking about the complexities of being a “black woman”, one of the complexities of being a black woman is that black men put women who are the total opposite of what she looked like in the movie (ex: her in her normal state) on a pedastal because of how she looks, whereas they would not give her the time of day if she looked the way she did in the movie in real life. Even if she were in her normal state, but a shade darker someone else would be chosen over her and get the ooohs and aaaahs. My point is anything that looks ethnic usually doesn’t get chosen. Young Berg only confirmed how many black men think when choosing his women. So go play tip the cow.

    i am really laughing at your go play tip the cow comment because i am actually a UT at Austin college student and we love playing tip the cow…our mascot is a longhorn…lol! and how could i have seen the movie first when the movie has not even come out yet? it is just a really popular, good book and i am really happy that they are making a movie out of it…just helps for black women to see themselves as something other than a slut or a victim and hopefully the movie does the book justice

    but yeah i see some of your points on how some black men really want black women to imitate white beauty standards and that does make me mad as well….i always say dont go against the grain, find someone who will love u for u and fuck the rest of those brainwashed niggas, lol
