Im from VA so im not hating on skill’s, but all them dudes that he is speaking on put there thing down to get on. Russel and the rest of them dudes was out there looking for talent and had people looking for talent for them cuz the needed all the talent they could get to build there brand. Now-a-days dudes are there own brand so thats who they are promoting. Plus todays game is far different from what the game was back in the late 80’s early 90’s. And if Skills knows where the next B.I.G or Jay-Z is why dont he put him on. He’s a vet in the game just like those other dudes he refering to.

Last thought……. Cash Money,Master P and cats like that made there own way back in the day, so why dont cats follow the boy they love to hate on …Soulja Boy and like Jay-Z says ” Put your self on then”

He didnt sound mad. He has a point. And Skillz doesnt have money like Diddy or Jay so how can he put someone in the game oo they can atleast compete. Bleek should be bigger then what he is, point blank period. He didnt sound like he was making a case for himself but for the younger cats who want to be the next Jay or Diddy.

Listen, Diddy and Jay are part of the system now (the matrix)they are settled. They can taste and eat the steak even though it is not real anymore. They aint hungry anymore, they got millions and millions of $, so much that it even has becomed a joke now and so far removed from what Hip Hop was to begin with.

I used to respect Puff Daddy, but I lost it to P Diddy and I dont even know who Diddy is.
It is not up to them to break new artist, its up to us.
Thats is why I for instance like them new cats “The Cool Kids”. and “The Knux” etc.

Just my humble opinion.

skillz realest talk i’ve heard all year. Skillz can’t put no one on cause he is not an executive. Well all he can do is hand a couple of demos around, but the real reason a rapper/exect. wont put no one on is because of the possible chance that the new nigga could do better, its sad but u can’t blame em. its not even really their responsibly if thats the case unless they just focus on being executives. and if anybody under him gets close to making a billion, he gets half or more due to his shady contracts, so tell me again why puff is stop niggas from gettin on. puff is an executive who’s focused on makin money off new acts. jayz is an artist whos more in tuned with the rapper side of things and not really an executive at heart. puff puts niggas on all day, they get hot singles, then fizzle out, and he moves on to the next one

Interesting convo, but I disagree with Skillz. First of all you comparing Puff, Jay, and JD with Russ, Lyor and Kevin Lyles which is not fair. Those guys are artists or producers FIRST, execs second. Russ aint never tried to make a record. Second, to say Puff wouldn’t give BIG a shot today doesn’t make a lot of sense. Puff’s goal is to MAKE MONEY. He made a bunch of money off of BIG. He would probably make a lot more today.

#7 said Bleek should be bigger than what he is. R U SERIOUS?!?!? Bleek is only as big as he is because of his association with Jay. Bleek is a slightly better than average MC. I don’t know what about him makes you think he should be better. He’s lucky to go gold everytime like he does.

Now with a Jay-Z, of course his first priority is putting himself out there. But don’t you think if an artist came across his desk that had the ACTUAL POTENTIAL to be huge he would jump on it? I question the unsigned talent level thats out there…too many dudes rappin the same shit. Money, cars sellin drugs, blah, blah, blah. The game is in a rut from the bottom to the top.
