for so many years i felt like lupe is the greatest rapper people never heard… i’m glad he’s gotten more exposure, it’s just crazy that he’s chosen to retire after the next album (i think he actually will b/c he’s been calling LupEND his last of the three before he “got big”)… it can do big numbers… he can get those singles and retire without ever compromising his morals… much props to dude

Lupe probably has the most bandwagon jumping fans then anyone else.
When he first dropped Food and Liquor with the Kick Push single cats were like “what tha fuck is this gay skateboarding shit this dude is lame”
But then when he dropped “Dumb It Down”, cats started clingin to his sack like mad, praising his lyrics when they didnt even know what he was talkin bout LOL
Theres way to many fakes out there callin themselves “hip-hop heads” like they tryin to prove something.
WE NEED SOME HIP-HOP SCHOLARS YOU FEEL ME?
September 1st, 2008 at 6:29 pm
The stuff that i say that gets deleted amazes me every time. I don’t even be cussin. then i read a foul mouth comment that stays 4eva. I think i figured it out…you can’t talk about their favorite artists. Oh yeah please get off me. i don’t have room for all yall!
September 1st, 2008 at 7:10 pm
no offense #18 but i find your opinion pretty stupid.
i get what you’re saying, that people SAY they are hip-hop heads…for example (people tell me they listen to hieroglyphics, atmosphere, MF Doom)…so i tell them “name me 3 tracks from each artist”…and they can’t say shit.
so i get you on that level.
however, when you say they didnt like him with ‘kickpush’ but then liked him with ‘dumb it down’…..are you gonna hate on a listener for growing to like an artist? not every artist is going to capture his audience with his first single.
he might need a range of sounds to get his fans. a lot of lupe’s singles all hit different areas, whereas, to me, Lil Jon, has “one” sound.
so please please please dont think people are just bandwagon fans for lupe. don’t we WANT them to bandwagon someone with lyrics? isn’t that better than to bandwagon…say.. Bow Wow?
because if they bandwagon on lupe….once they get older they’ll start to understand him and TURN INTO a real hip-hop head.
you can’t just START OFF as a hip-hop head, you feel me?
anyway. i don’t think your opinion is stupid. i just feel like you’re not looking at it the way i was.

Make up your mind #20
“no offense #18 but i find your opinion pretty stupid. … anyway. i don’t think your opinion is stupid. ”
LOL really?
Im not only talking about Kick Push, im using it as an example of when he first started getting recognized (by the mainstream) public
Im just saying if it takes that long and a song like Dumb It Down for them to realize the lyrical ability this dude holds, especially after an ill album like F&L, they shouldnt be critiquing him in tha first place.
Ive been blogging for a minute now and i remember when Dumb It Dumb first started circulating the blogs, and how people were so hyped over his lyrics, but before that, on the topic of him, i rarely witnessed anyone discussing the lyricism of Lupe
I agree with you on the terms of its better to jump his bandwagon then someone of the likes of Bow Wow or Soldier Boy, it just annoys me when you’re a fan of an unknown artist and they become popular and these wannabe hip-hop heads want to brag about something they know minimal about (lyricism)
