It’s funny, because now he’s trying to garner female support (ala album cover, etc) to sell the album. Since he’s dropped like 3 or 4 songs so far, I guess that’s not going too well.

Nelly aint do shit wrong…he didn’t perpetuate anything thats not true..whatchu want him to do?…Strippers doo exist don’t they….Im sure he’s gone to a strip club..all he did was make a video of it..and put it on at adult hours…If you got a problem with that..then you need to take a look in the mirror and have a talk with the ladies that made that video possible

Nelly clearly isn’t a stereotypical rapper who cannot formulate an intelligent conversation…..an argument that should’ve started when the video came out only came into fruition when comments were made by CNN, FoxNews and BET (can’t stand the propaganda on that damn station)….his rebuttal was so correct that it threw her whole argument out of whack…..Nelly gets a golf clap strictly because he is an intelligent black male who refuses to take the burden of adults who should be responsible for themselves upon himself…..

I totally agree with Nelly on this one. I’m not a fan of most rap today, but I think Nelly’s video is a scapegoat for the bigger issue. I totally agree that Leukemia is a FAR BIGGER PROBLEM than a rap video, but I think some sistas have to blame themselves for some of the problem. In this era of “I want a thug”, not saying that Cornell Haynes is a thug but “Nelly” does portray the bad boy image. I think women (black women especially) shouldn’t be surprised if “Nelly”, the local bad boy, the local drug dealer, or the local gang banger if they are misogynist. Women the song came out in ‘03 and guess who was the number 1 artist that year – you guess it the baddest boy of them all “50 Cent”. I will not believe that only men brought the 50 cent album. And I’m willing to bet my paycheck that some women from Spelman brought the album also.

Black women you need to Smartenup

P.S. Black women make a bigger statement by going to buy the new Common Album (How many Spelman girls have the new Lil Wayne)

I’m a woman and I never saw the big deal with his video. No one needs to be talking about disrespecting women in that video because if they had any amount of self respect, they wouldn’t have done the dam video. A woman can’t be disrespected when she’s a knowing willing paticipant. It isn’t like he filmed them without their knowledge. They were probably strippers who do this every night for a living. They got paid for it, so who the f*ck cares? Obviously they didn’t see anything wrong or they wouldn’t have done the video. This video was YEARS ago. I’m going to need women to let it go already!

I think the what Nelly doesn’t seem to understand is somethings don’t need to be put on VIDEO!. Yes there are strip clubs we all (adults) know this. He didn’t need to visualize this for us we know its out there. There are things in rap, hip-hop, and the club that weren’t made for mass consumption. Its kinda of like grown folk humor; you get it I get it but its not for the kids. This is a metaphor because by kids I mean the greater society outside of hip-hop, and the club scene, they weren’t made to see everything we do and I think thats what Nell doesn’t get!

Nelly was wrong for Tip Drill point blank

Yes it was meant for adults, but that vid dropped in 03′, during the beginning of the YouTube era, so you didn’t have to wait til 4 o clock to see it.

Dude was the biggest rapper on the planet at the time and didn’t expect backlash from that? That was the type of vid a nobody rapper does. And the song was garbage

But it’s messed up the women in Atlanta didn’t let him host his bone marrow event, he could have found a match for his sister, but on the other hand, I’m glad to have saw black women standing up for themselves

The post is about whether you think Nelly was right or wrong in his decision to make the tip drill video and whether you agree or disagree with his argument……not a platform for you to get on your soap box and tell everyone what is wrong with Black women.

Why are so many concerned with pointing in the faces of Black women anyway, when they have a heap of trash they need to sweep up from in front of their own front door. And lol @ buying a Common album to prove you’ve “smartenupped” SMH

Anyway, Nelly should expect that when you put out something as an artist that is taboo to society that there will be people to voice their dislike. But what matters is if in his heart he feels confident and positive about his decision, concerning himself as a man, a father, and an artist.

United we stand divided we fall… People still act like they don’t get how the game is being played.. Its blatant hypocrisy from people who go at Nelly for that video. You have to know AMERICA is an overly sexed society already!! With hip hop or without it.. Its hard to watch television and sit through a commercial without some type of overt sexual undertone.. So when an artist paints a picture of this segment of society that exist, (which is the shake ya ass for a Georgie, corner of society) the anger is directed at him?

Soooo where is the anger for everyone else’s role in building up, the tolerance for debauchery on tv? This shit has been bubbling up towards the surface for a long ass time.. But its real convenient to blame the ARTIST for painting a picture of what YOU’VE been tolerating all along. The guilt shouldn’t be placed on Nelly but on whoever is offended for allowing it to get to this point.. If they are REALLY indignant about the way women are portrayed in on television

So this is a big fat fcuk you very much to anyone who is offended by Nelly’s video and want to blame him for the existence women who get naked for money

I am a black woman who saw none of myself reflected in Nelly’s video. We can’t continue to ask these brothers to give us something that we don’t give ourselves which is respect. If no women showed up ready to “do something strange for some change” then there would have not have been a tip drill video to discuss. If I remember correctly Nelly stated that it was the idea of the female in the video to even do the credit card swipe. So women let’s smarten up seriously. Let’s start to put value on what we feel we should be. We can’t change these men, but we can change ourselves. If we really want to see some positive reflections of ourselves let’s start putting some out there and stop allowing men to define who we are. Don’t show up to the video set and go sign up for some classes. Each one, teach one!
