This is good right here.

There is a WHOLE LOT more that Jay Z and rappers alike could be doing for the community as well. This is a good image for the press, nice time for photo ops but I wouldn’t make it like he’s giving whole neighborhoods remodels or something. Good none the less but some of you are

ball licking heavy. There are plenty of artist who give back including the wack G Unit, them dudes gahbage but their foundation has given back for about 5 years consistently.

On another note, Jay needs to work on speaking better in public. He’s suppose to be a rapper, he should of perfected this. He was saying anything towards the end of the speech, sure he’s no politician but he is a entertainer.

what more can jay say that bloomberg didn’t say for the first 10 minutes. he’s not there to give a political speech or be politically correct, he’s there to show support. and on another note i just wish people would stop saying rappers could do alot for the community, especially if your not doing anything to contribute. you dont have to be rich to help your community, and fixing the problems that we have in our community starts with us. a rapper, singer or basketball player can’t stop the drugs and the killings in our community, where the one’s that can. the only thing any of those people can do is maybe fix it up a little or make it more cleaner, but who is it still up to, to keep it that way. US! So even if someone was to come along and put up a basketball court, football field or build up new housing for the community, what’s stopping it from becoming drug infested all over again or people destroying it because their ignorant. So when you think about it, who the hell wants to spend their hard earned money on nice things for the community, when they know the community gone mess it up anyway. It’s not about rich or poor, it’s how we choose to live. look at it this way, you may can change the clothes you wear everyday but if our still the same person on the inside, then what difference does it make.

#7 is on point. I agree sometimes rappers do things like this for simple publicity but I respect Jay for teaming up with bloomberg in an event like this. People, let’s not act like this is a historical or ground breaking event here. Hip Hop stars do things like this all the time, it’s just some goes unreported due to bias or not a big enough star or whatever reason.

I agree with the user saying Jay can do much more the community and I’m not talking just the Black community, not targeting Jay Z either, Common, Kanye West, Nas, Outkast etc.

it’s been so long since we had a successful anti-establishment artist that we are now applauding the establishment pawns- like Jay.
