Obama’s Campaign Denounces Ludacris’, "Politics As Usual"
The Obama campaign on Wednesday blasted Bridges’ “Politics As Usual” song, which is on the “Gangsta Grillz: The Preview” mixtape with Atlanta spinner DJ Drama.
“As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to,” Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton said in an e-mail statement. “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.”

SMH… if y’all only knew!!!
July 30th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
they’re only speaking on this cuz they know luda got sumtin goin wit obama why dont they talk bout what jay said on stage?
July 30th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Wow…hip-hop stays losing. There was only one line in that song that was a lil over the top and that was the McCain line.
July 30th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Jay has said a lot worse on songs and on stage yet Obama is cool with Jay so they are going at Luda.
Not a good look.
Keep it consistent…
July 30th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Co-Sign #3….that McCain line was a lil too much!! lol!
Luda’s still that nigga!!!!!!!!
July 30th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Lol… thats my fav line keepin it real been dead… jus keep it consistant!!! Which mos folks still can’t do…lol!
July 30th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Yeah, the right wingers are all going crazy. It’s funny how they know about a MIXTAPE CUT. I wouldn’t be mad if I were Luda from the response from the Obama camp,
IT’S POLITICS
Hannity is a faggot! I wouldn’t be surprised if Fox try to make this into something that it’s not.
GOOD TRACK LUDA!
“SHOUT OUT 2 BILL O REILLY I’MA THROW U A CURVE
U MAD CUZ I’MA THEIF AND GOT A WAY WITH WORDS
I’MA START MY OWN BEVERAGE IT’LL CALM YA NERVES
PEPSI’S the new generation???BLOW IT OUT YA ASS!”
July 30th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Luda know we gotta fallback till the time comes. Obama has to appear as though he’s not feeling it. Do you guys remember that stupid ass Bill o’Riely had a problem with Luda and made him lose a PEPSI endorsement deal? They would open up a door for the Republicans if he accepts Luda for making the song because of the past.
Can we wait until the man atleast get in the White House?
We keep doing this stuff he might lose. unfortunately we still live in these times and days when were not completely
excepted althought the republicans stole the HOUSE from Gore to begin with.
July 30th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
A lot of people don’t realize that Luda’s star power is HUGE, in the music industry and in HOLLYWOOD. He’s the biggest RAP STAR coming out of Atlanta, BIGGER THAN KAST BIGGER THAN TI BIGGER THAN JD
So when he makes a record, it will go a lot further than if let’s say TI or someone made the record. Than Obama saying he was a fan of his music and Jay Z’s music. So it’s better for Obama Camp to denounce it and like the guy said just know that it’s POLITICS.
July 30th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Jay Z was exposed Luda was look at big picture this aint HIPHOP issue yo this for the Presidentcy of United States a BLACKMAN!!!
July 30th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Obama needs to distant him self away from rappers period!
July 30th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
I agree Obama does need to stay away from rappers, i mean say someone see’s that picture there like hmm whos ludacris? Search his name on youtube and what do they find, they find the pussy poppin video and ask themselves is this the kinda people Obama associates himself with, could lose alot of votes.
July 30th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
bullshit man hip hop is a voice, everything is so fucking watered down now a days. Right now Obama should denounce this because some swing voters can’t handle the truth but after election if Obama wins, the rappers should say whatever the fuck they feel man, same thing with rockstars and country singers and pop acts.
fuck all this
“on no u can’t say that”
fuck being politically correct man, say what u feel!
July 30th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Luda is that dude in deed…that was a hot joint…
I hope luda understand that Obama has to denounce this or they’ll use it against him….but I’m sure he’s thinking that it was hot.
July 30th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
You know Obama be bumpin this joint in the towncar….LMAO….Naw on the real Obama HAS TO denounce the song cause the lyrics are offensive and derogatory. Although Luda aint say nothing that I haven’t heard or said myself…This is the real deal and Obama can’t afford to be messin up at this stage of the game.

[Intro: little children]
I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America..
{*warplane flies overhead*}
And to the republic, for which it stands..
[Eminem] People!
.. one nation, under God, indivisible..
[Eminem] It feels so good to be back!
.. with liberty and justice for all
[Eminem] Mosh with me now
[Verse 1]
You scrutinize every word, memorize every line
I spit it once, refuel, re-energize, and rewind
I give sight to the blind, my insight tthrough the mind
I exercize my right to express when I feel it’s time
It’s just all in your mind, what you interpret it as
I say to fight and you take it as “I’ma whip someone’s ass”
If you don’t understand don’t even bother to ask
A father who has, grown up with a fatherless – past
Who has blown up now, to rap phenomenon that has
or at least shows no difficulty multi-taskin
And juggling both, perhaps mastered his craft slash
entrepreneur, who’s helped launch a few more rap acts
Whose has had a few obstacles thrown his way through the last half
of his career typical manure movin past that
Mr. Kiss-His-Ass-Crack, he’s a class act
Rubberband man yeah, he just snaps back
[Chorus]
Come along, follow me, as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark that we need
to procede, carry on, give me hope
Give me strength, come with me, and I won’t steer you wrong
Put your faith, and your trust, as I guide us through the fog
To the light, at the end, of the tunnel we gon’ fight
We gon’ charge, we gon’ stomp, we gon’ march through the swamp
We gon’ mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors
C’mon
[Verse 2]
All the people up top, on the side and the middle
Come together let’s all form, and swarm just a little
Just let it gradually build, from the front to the back
All you can see is a sea of people some white and some black
Don’t matter what color all that metters we’re gathered together
to celebrate for the same cause no matter the weather
If it rains, let it rain, yeah the wetter the better
They ain’t gon’ stop us they can’t, we’re stronger now more than ever
They tell us no we say yeah, they tell us stop we say go
Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell, we gon’ let ‘em know
Stomp, push shove, mush, fuck Bush
Until they bring our troops home c’mon, just
[Chorus]
[Verse 3]
Imagine it pourin, just rainin down on us
Mosh pits outside the Oval Office, someone’s tryin
to tell us somethin maybe this is God just
saying we’re responsible, for this monster
This coward that we have empowered, this is Bin Laden
Look at his head noddin – how could, we allow
somethin like this without, pumpin our fist now
this is our, final hour..
Let me, be the voice, and your strength, and your choice
Let me simplify the rhyme just to emplify the noise
Try to amplify it, times-it, and multiply it by six-teen
million people all equal at this high pitch
Maybe we can reach Al’Qaeda through my speech
Let the President answer a higher anarchy
Strap him with an AK-47, let him go
fight his own war, let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles
to fight on our own soil, no more psychological warfare
to trick us to thinkin we ain’t loyal
If we don’t serve our own country we’re patronizin a hero
Look in his eyes it’s all lies
The stars and stripes have been swiped, washed out and wiped
and replaced with his own face, mosh now or die
If I get sniped tonight, you’ll know why – cause I told you to fight!
[Chorus]
[Eminem]
And as we procede, to mosh through this Desert Storm
And these closing statements, if they should argue
Let us beg to differ
As we set aside our differences, and assemble our own army
To disarm, THIS weapon of mass destruction
that we call our President, for the present
And mosh for the future of our next generation
To speak, and be heard
Mr. President! Mr. Senator!
[children]
You guys hear us? {*laughing*}
July 30th, 2008 at 10:04 pm

July 30th, 2008 at 10:07 pm

July 30th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
@Isiah Bradley, HAHA and Bread Winner all right yo. Its Politics.
Obama is the truth we want him to get in there so we can have a voice. Them fuckin’ hating azz Replubicans looking for a way to continue to run a SMEER Campaign because they really have no damn Agenda.
Shit u think things are bad now. Man if McCain wins its gonna be even worst cause that dude is CLEARLY Senile.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
SMH @ LUDA
politics is not a game dis is not yankees vs. da red soxs nor a rap beef dis isnt 50 vs. ye THIS IS REAL LIFE
nd a lot of ppl (more so uneducated ppl) are stuck in the mind set where it is difficult to big someone up wif out knocking da next man dwn
nd in da “professional world” you break out ur credentials, you show what you done nd whats ur plans to make do (dats how u show ur better than the next man)
nd when politics turns to bashing nd bad mouthing the next opponent it is to appeal to that voter
ND ITS SAD BCUZ ITS LIKE DA LIL BROTHER TRYNA MAKE THE BIG BROTHER PROUD ND GETTIN SHTTED ON LIKE MAN I CANT DO NOTHING RITE CUZ LUDA DIDNT MEAN ANY HARM
July 30th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
Haha. Luda got checked by his big brother.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Luda’s an idiot for that line … like, for real. Let’s be real.
July 31st, 2008 at 12:38 am
The people have been officially bamboozled.
July 31st, 2008 at 3:16 am
LUDDDDDAAA
That’s my nigga! lolll
July 31st, 2008 at 7:07 am
I gotta say Ludacris comes off really ignorant on the song. It’s obvious that he doesn’t know anything about politics and just support Obama cause he’ black.
His thought process seems to be equal to a 4 year olds: “Hillary hated on you so that bitch is irrelevant”. Oh really Luda?
July 31st, 2008 at 7:10 am
That line about MCcain was a great line and it was a great song which is was longer, fuck the haters Luda is that dude and alot worst has bein said by other artists especially towards the current president. Surprised they heard it especially with it bein a mixtape cut. Luda is that dude
July 31st, 2008 at 7:30 am
Post #20 what the hell are you talking about? Luda is way more successful then the nonsense that you are spewing out your mouth
“Too many equate success with imitating these crackers”-Kweli
I’m far from a racist bro, but what Luda spit was on point. It might not register as well to you people out there who making 30-60 thousand and think you doing big things because you got an OFFICE JOB, LUDA IS WAY PAST THAT!!!
WAY PAST THAT!!!!! Most Likely he’s done made more than your BOSSES will ever make in their life! So all that shucking and jiving politically correctness college lingo….put that to the side for a minute
Hillary was stubborn and did not want to leave the race even when the DEMOCRATIC PARTY TOLD HER TO GET OUT THE PARTY. Look how long it took her to drop her super delegates. LOOK AT ALL THE LOW BLOW’S she threw at OBAMA while competing against him. LUDA’S LINE WAS ON POINT!
Now I bet you if a country star came out with a record dissing Obama and supporting McCain, you wouldn’t hear a peep out the far right, not a fucking peep.

“Shout out to bill oreilly”
July 31st, 2008 at 8:14 am
Luda got nothing to be ashamed of. For the first time, we have black people with voices, but bad images in the medias eye, getting together and rallying for a president. Before Obama, politics in hiphop seemed taboo. So now we have McCain, Jackson, and Clinton (at one point) all denouncing Obama’s views and experience. Obama released statements pretty much shrugging his shoulders at them and saying “Oh well, all is forgiven”. So Luda, Jay and alot of our hip-hop stars got together and stood up and talked $hit against the haters in Obama’s defense. Obama cant get mad at that. Thats not messing up his votes. He’s already the most popular man on the planet right now. We in the hiphop community are voters too. I’d love to see Barack Obama stand up and make that change he was talkin about so much before the Democratic Primaries. But what I dont like is that they said his church was bad, so he left. They said his preacher was evil, so he left him. They said he didnt address black people enough, so he got up on fathers day in front of a bunch of black people to talk about paying child support and stop making excuses. Now someone in Barack’s camp said, “Oh Luda made a song dissing them haters you had. White people are gonna drag you thru the mud for this!” All of a sudden, a statement is released. Come on, B, you letting the politics change the person you always were. I know as a black candidate that he’d be dissected, scrutinized and exposed as much as the media can possibly do. But damn, theres tons of 18-24 year olds who would never vote if all they listened to was MSNBC and other news outlets. But now since all these rappers and people they look up to are banding together on a “Vote for Barack” campaign, they will. Luda has sold millions of albums and has gotten millions of people to shake their moneymakers. If those millions are willing to go out to the club, go out to the record store or go out to the concerts to hear Luda speak, they will pay attention when they see his continuous support for Barack. Baracks camp also has to understand that. Alot of older white or Clinton/McCain voters are not going for you either way. So turn your attention on the millions of young urban people who support you, but just havent voted yet. Rally them up and get them voting, B.
July 31st, 2008 at 9:31 am
All of the lines, in that track, towards Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush were real talk. Obama’s campaign probably agrees with him, but they’re denouncing it publicly because they want to look like good guys against offensive rap. Some things are true and need to be said, even if they’re offensive.
July 31st, 2008 at 9:43 am
I don’t think the campaign should have even acknowledged this song. Then again Luda was speakin the truth & maybe they wanted to bring attention too it. You know let Luda say what Obama can’t say.
July 31st, 2008 at 9:53 am
i agree wit the#31 smooth da hustler
obama already cosigned luda knowing what he says in his music. like we’ve learned with jesse jackson everybody says slick shit when they think the mic is off. so luda just saying what obama cant, and hopefully will never get caught saying.
this is “politics as usual”. myself and i’m sure luda’s camp expected obama to denounce this song, he had to. obama’s camp had to hurry and denounce this before the fox news niggas starting claiming its his favorite song. obama just beat them to the punch,
but can we get some love for rappers even rappin on this subject, who’s next, i luv it. we got jayz, jeezy, luda niggas is rappin about politics, cant be madd at that
July 31st, 2008 at 10:48 am
they always gonna find a way to bring obama down. aint that a bitch
July 31st, 2008 at 10:51 am
I hear what all of you are saying. I don’t really think its about rappers or freedom of speech.
Do you all realize this is the first real official race that will determine where the black race is going. How can you reach for change when the people around you remain the same? I mean Obama is fighting for something bigger than rap. He is trying to get the world to view black people differently. How can that happen when people make such derogatory statements against visual people (white female at that). The lyrics are just another form of showing the world that Black people have no real education. Using the word “Bitch” shows lack of education. Luda couldn’t pick a better word than “Bitch”. Hell, Black Men are so used to calling their women bitches in national media yall think its accepted by main stream America. It’s not, especially when you down grade the image of the superior race (yeah I said superior race-they will always be superior because they hold everything they do with high regard). They say yeah you call all of your women bitches cause they are meaningless to America. But our women deserve respect.
Obama can’t win without everyone’s support and if that means cleaning up images of supports then so be it. If McCain wins we all loose. But, guess what Luda won’t because he is still making money. The recession doesn’t mean shit to him. You know what it means for regular working people, college students, young and old looking for jobs and the underprivileged and yes including people making 30K and higher (Black people)? Remember Black people are the first to go when a company is downsizing. Who yall think working at Starbucks and the other fast food chains? No change, still no respect from other races. This is the time to put the ignorance behind and stand up. This election is bigger than hip-hop and damn sure bigger than Luda. I don’t want Luda representing my vote because he did not consider my voice when he made those statements. Sit down and shut up… Let Obama win…. He don’t need to worry about republicans Blacks are his worst enemy.
Wake up……. Be consistent (yes) but consistently make the write choice of words because they can’t be taken back once they are said. Be consistent with supporting and not hurting the election. Be consistent with everything…
Now I question if Luda was trying to help
July 31st, 2008 at 11:18 am
One more thing Obama Co-Signed Luda because he was trying to shed a positive light on rappers (black Men beyond the media and music)…. Luda smacked Obama in the face by showing the media is correct with the assumptions related to rappers being stupid…
Now I see why Oprah edited his segment. How can calling a group of women bitches and hoes be justified. It only relates to the poor uneducated black man. Reach higher.
July 31st, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Luda got happy go lucky on this song. It’s too raw for politics. It ain’t a smart move if you want to side with Obama.people got to play they cards right if they want to support, but if it’s just a rap thing, fuck it, freedom of speech it is.
July 31st, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Its a world thing because the world is watching
July 31st, 2008 at 1:57 pm
Obama not going to lose this election himself, its gonna be someone else who does it for him. Luda needs to be careful though, he has a pretty nice size white fan base and hillary supporters might not like those comments. White girls buy a lot of albums and if their mothers were hillary followers then this little publicity wont help.
Janet Jackson’s super bowl performance changed her perception forever. I dont even think she went gold, and white people liked her more than Luda before that titty popped out.
July 31st, 2008 at 2:06 pm
@Pounce LOL… True statement
