Nelly Says Don’t Look At TV For Role Models
“Role models should be someone that’s in your life on a daily basis, someone that’s prevalent in your life, that you can see not just on television,” he said. “The only thing that kids see is that person’s success. That’s it.”
Nelly also revealed that he would not consider changing his image or toning down his songs to please people.
“If I did that, what would I be telling the kids? To let society dictate you as a person?

A serious problem with today’s youth is they have a hard time finding role models to follow. Instead of looking at their parents or hard working people in their community they look up to the characters rappers portray. A Basketball player is not a role model because he puts a ball in a hoop nor is a rapper because he can rhyme. You have to look at a person’s morals, what they stand for and how they strive to reach their goals. Parents step your game up, TV can’t raise your kids for you.

I agree with what nelly is saying, however some kids dont have parents and they see these athletes or rappers being sucessful. When you here them speak they speak most of the time on a positive note. they see them on cribs(for the kids who have no where to sleep). they see them in cars(for the kids who has had the same shoes with wholes in them). they see them dressing nice(for the kids with no clothes). These things look good. some would say they also see them disrespecting females and cursing and talking about hOlding guns and selling drugs, however those things to these kids seem normal in the world that they live in. So thats why they glorify the other things. SO TO SOME EXTREME YOU CANT TELL THESE KIDS NOT TO LOOK UP TO THEM.

TV is and has always been very powerful. These rappers can say whatever they want at the end of the day they do have a big influence on people and they are rolemodels cause that’s part of being in the public eye whether they like it or not.
Rappers can continue to curse call women hoes and glorify selling drugs and other crimes if they want to but when they act this way they also make this behaviour acceptable to the public. Kids copy the way they talk and act just like they copy the fashion (how to dress..etc) that artists make popular

I agree with Nelly to a degree. The Media which includes TV is like flashy jewelry and exotic cars when kids see them it doesnt matter what the person who has them is doing people just wanna be in that position too. He can say what he want but until they stop flossing as much kids aint trying to hear it.
Kids are like the Police when they work a case.. Follow the niggas with the flashy cars/shinny jewelry they led us to something.

5 and 6 are right yo. Take the money and clean your hands like the dudes in Columbia on SUNDAY. After sending mad bricks to the rest of the world they protend like its everyones else problem. Most blacks look up to these dudes.
Thats why they drop out of school, rob and kill to be like them. Prisons are full of fools that tried the easy way. Niggas know damn well they looked up to people like them before they came up.

This is much better than some fake Rick Ross shit. More power to Bow wow. If I’m in the club and they play this track you better believe everybody is going to have a great time. It’s a nice catchy track and the video is a cool big pool party. I’m feeling this track

I agree to a extent but what about the kids who’s parents don’t give a fuck aint around who do they look up to ? They got nobody so they look to a rapper, athlete, actor, etc; but parents are getting lazy nowadays. I agree with that in rappers we see the sucess but we don’t really see the downside to it.Thats good for Nelly not to change who he is like society wants people to do.

Nelly is stupid. How are you gonna say that kids should find influences from daily life and then say your not gonna change your image because you dont want to send a bad message to KIDS… Is he serious? Anybody who supports him is just as dumb….
