Latest On Jay-Z’s Next Album

“Well, after the tour, I’m going back home and we’ll look at it and see if I can start a project this year,” he said. “I would love to do it, to be honest with you. It would be a great thing to do when I come home from tour, but it’s vibe. I can’t say, ‘On this date this is going to happen.’ If I get home and the vibe is right, it’ll happen. If not, then top of next year.”
“I can’t give you the concepts or themes, but I’ve got a very clear direction of where I want to go with this one, and we’ll see how it works.”
Full Story: MTV
Swizz Beatz already mentioned that he was making some new Jigga tracks, so don’t be surprised to hear something late 08/early 09. I wonder how he will follow up a classic like, “American Gangster.”

It’s hard to walk away from something that you are passionate about. This guy has quite a lengthy catalog and his last record “American Gangster” was a hell of a album. I will be anticipating his upcoming release.
Concept albums come up well with Jay. The realtalkNY guy is a big Jay fan, I can tell.

jay always ahead of the game
hurry up and tell these lame rap niggas what to do next hov

1st I would like to say that new Nas record is incredible. I absolutely will purchase.
My comment is for poster 3, why should he retire? Young rappers should make better music especially in the NY tri state area. In the south, you don’t see Webbie & Boosie & Plies dissing UGK and OUTKAST. You don’t see Rick Ross dissing Ludacris.
If the music was quality enough, they shouldn’t be worried about rappers before them still releasing music.

A.G. a classic ?
I dont know I thought that Party Life was one of the wackest Jay tracks ive heard in a long time.Other than that it was straight
I give it a 4.8 out of 5.
Cuz other than fallin and roc boys and a few others.i dont really bump thems songs. No staying power wit me

#3 probably shed a tear and sucked on his pacifier when Ice T told Soulja Boy to eat a dick.

All I want is for Jay not to rush into trying to make an album. All he needs is to take his time with it, relax for a while and eventually he will make another classic album. He’s a very creative individual and I believe he will deliver like he always does. @ post 3, I don’t feel he should retire and he def hasn’t ruin his legacy at least in my eyes. I think hes been consistent while at the same time improving his status in the industry. The fact that’s he mentioned in the top 5 dead or alive (no specific order) and not ruining that in any regard shows he still got some years left.

He gonna hit 40, get his Billie, then stop. Til then,,,
ITS HOVIE BABY!

@5 co-sign, that new Nas is an Instant Classic. YES I DOWNLOADED IT and I aint scared to say it because I will be the first to buy it on July 15th
@3 there’s no such thing as being old in rap years. Basketball is different because it wears and tears on you PHYSICALLY. Jay-Z put out arguably a classic last year at age 37. Jay still has skills, the problem is that rap fans are so fickle. They dont wanna stick with you for a long time. I bet you in 5-10 years the SAME people calling Lil Wayne the greatest rapper will be tellin him to retire and to make way for some new nigga. Look at Ice Cube. He is droppin an album this year at age THIRTY-NINE! And the leaks have been fire so dont give me that age bullshit.

Retire for what? Good music is good music. Jay is one of the nicest out, a legend in his time. You should be happy to say you lived during that time of his music.

HipHop/Rap Has no age requirement—#3
If you Jay-Z retires so young guys like Soulja Boy can rap than Imma start listening to Rock
Music is Music if its hot its hot A.G. was a hot album better than Carter 3 which came from a young guy I was truly dissapointed
Jay-Z is a trendsetter
He always is being creative and he is one of the only few who is truly passionate about the music
Not all but most of the young guys in the rap game just follow trends and are not passionate about the music at all
If he waits 2 long he will sound rusty like Kingdome Come
Just look at Eminem he will have a hard time coming back

I didnt know American Gangsta was a classic damn! Lol, shit was hot but i never heard the “its classic” argument. Lookin for to his next record tho.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:48 pm
jays classics:

Blueprint

…..I WANT THE BLUEPRINT 3!

I really don’t understand why there are people who thinks Jay should retire. Are u kidding me??? For those who think that, you must have been hiding under a fucking rock because even Stevie Wonder can see how bad hip hop has fallen. Honestly if it werent for dudes like Jay, people would be listening to fuckin Bhangra (shout out to Bollywood..lol) music right now. He makes the shit worth listening to. AG was hands down a classic…probably the best album of 2007 with Graduation a close 2nd!
It seems that we are never gonna find common ground on this issue…so here’s what I suggest…let’s get a big thick ass rope (pause)…and divide the country in half…Souljah Boy, Ying Yang Twins, and all of those other corny muthafuckas, they can have their fans on one side….and I’ll be on the other side with Jay’s. Kanye’s, Commons, Andre 3k’s, and possibly Lil Wayne (if he would stop drinking that shit all the dam time). That way everyone is happy!
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:55 pm
Fuck Jay-Z yea i said it sue me bitch
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:59 pm
AG was a classic..it was a better version of the movie..
DEF lookin’ forward 2 a new HOV joint..especially since it’s his last release under Def Jam, so it’s gonna be special…
haha@#3…too old? did you see his performance at Glastonbury? nuff said
“gravity’s ill”

July 4th, 2008 at 12:36 am
Im a big JayZ fan but you niggas ridin his dick way 2 much. American Gangster is not a classic wtf? Everything he touches get labeled as a classic by his brainwashed ass 40 y/o groupies.
July 4th, 2008 at 12:47 am
Kingdom Come was better then American Gangster in my opinion and that wasn’t even a classic. American Gangster is a hot album but it not a classic to me. Kingdom Come was more creative to me but not a classic. And it seem like people are so quick to call a great album by a great artist a classic even tho that not alway the case. Sometime i wonder if people still know what classic mean since they use it toward every good album as if it true. But i ain’t trippin cuz it not like ya’ll are speakin about a wack out artist. I mean jay-z is far from being wack and i respect everything he does and im def copin his next album.
July 4th, 2008 at 12:50 am
A.G is a classic? WTF? when did this happen
SMH
July 4th, 2008 at 12:53 am
na homie he bit the movie to be ahead of the game. niggas need new gimmicks or marketing for music, the money has changed so the marketing has to change with it
i cant hate on him still making albums
right now he is at his highest point ever
and #14 mas, u 4got the black album, but u on point tho
July 4th, 2008 at 12:54 am
at #3 ur fucking INSANE….AG was a CLASSSIC
u kno why hov still raps, cuz niggas like souljaboy, jibbs, hurricane chris, etc FUCKING SUXX. if hov retires, rap music will pretty much be on life support. bun b is like 40 and still better than pretty much all these young niggas.
im 21 and i can say i literally grew up on jay-z, he is the ambassador of rap music. lil’ wayne JUST GOT HOT, hov has been hot since like ‘97, whenever VOL 3 dropped. think bout how consistant this man has been since then. think bout how many rappers/musical acts in any genre have come and gone in that time period, yet HOV is STILL HERE. especially in rap, where ppl come and go every 5 secs.
u dont hear young rock kids saying fuck U2, aerosmith, kiss, black sabbath, beatles, etc. they embrace those old bands BECAUSE THEY RESPECT THEM and realize that if it wasnt 4 those bands they wouldnt have gym class heroes, fall out boy, plain white tees, coldplay, etc.
lil wayne jus got hot, lets see him stay consistant 4 the next 10 plus years like HOV has done. i mean jay-z is in a lot of ways bigger than rap music, the way kanye has become bigger than pop/rap music. i think wayne can be good, but he could also be a fad, only time will tell.

AG was awesome it was the best hip hop album last year by far Hov switched his style up on that the concept was dope the way he had pray and american dreaming at the start then Roc Boys, Sweet, Party Life and Success as the high point then he had Fallin at the end it was smartely put together like a movie.
Hov classics;
Reasonable Doubt
Black Album
Blueprint
American Gangster
His other albums are not that bad either but those are his real master pieces.
July 4th, 2008 at 5:45 am
Lol when is AG a classic ? In what terms is that a classic ? Blu, Common, & Talib Kweli albums were all better than AG no where near a classic .
July 4th, 2008 at 5:47 am
Hey dont for get HARD KNOCK LIFE that shit was FIRE and that tour was the bangin
July 4th, 2008 at 7:46 am
American Gangster is not a classic you fool(s).
I don’t understand how y’all can feel so comfortable saying that with Jigga dick in ya moufs.
July 4th, 2008 at 8:17 am
one thing is for sure and nobody can deny hov is the greatest of all time u can make jokes all u want saying ag wasnt classic or he should retire but hov been the hottest for 10plus years and still the biggest artist in the game the most fan favorite sells out stadiums in 1 min no other rapper has done most respected in the game as a legend your favorite rappers favorite rapper the hottest lyrically biggest trend setter most platinum albums besides probably 2pac definitely the most money on his way 2 a billi got more money and platinum albums then most of the rap roster all put together has the most and best ventures what else can u say bout dude he gets pizaid so hate on that
p.s anybody else feel free to add on for the haters

i didn’t know American Gangster was classic either.. It was a good album just leave it at that.. Classic is defined as no skip tracks on the project.
