Dr. Dre Says Detox May Drop This Year

The wait for Detox is almost over. Dr. Dre says his long-anticipated third solo album is starting to take shape in the studio and could arrive before the end of the year.

“I’m just now — over the last couple of months — starting to feel that it’s going to be right and it’s something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it,” says Dr. Dre (aka Andre Young). “In a perfect world, I’m shooting for a November or December release.”

Real talk, I dont kno man….I mean, Dre takin WAY TOO long to come out with this shit.

Kinda like Pap, he took too long (and is still taking too long up to this day) to release the NACIREMA DREAM. Peeps get tired of waiting and just fall back,

If Dre comes out with one strong single, which I know he can, then I guess he aint gon have to worry too much about the fact that his ass made us wait all that long

*TEMPER*

if you not anticipation the album theres something wrong with you because in my eye anticipation involves buying and bootlegging altogether as long as the music is being bumped lolz, and i believe he will drop it cuz he just dropped the beats headphones… hes gonna give some 20$ off coupons for them lol

I believe it’s coming out. His prior albums were nothing short of great albums. He went to a big media outlet like US Today, so I believe it will see shelves by the end of the year.

Dre has been watching the anticipation grow for this album forever so theres no rush.

Especially when you are collecting checks all day from your artists success.

I’m hoping he releases in November and goes head to head with Jay-Z who you know always releases in November.

I ain’t really gonna make any judgments until I hear the second single.

I still definitely wanna hear a great album from the first track to the last.

I wonder what Dr. Dre is gonna rap about tho? He gonna rap about bitches and girls in 64s? Talking about girls in the clubs and ice. Is he gonna make any political rap songs? Can we really expect the same type of music that he rapped about in Chronic 2001? Just my thoughts….

20.
Megamillz wrote on July 22nd, 2008 at 9:49 pm

LOL at #10 I want to hear this album but he is right about the fan base young kids dont give a flying Sh*t about this…lol… hiphop….

21.
G-Money wrote on July 22nd, 2008 at 9:58 pm

of course im anticipating Dres album!!

When he dropped Chronic 2001(Classic) it was a game changer.
It changed the way artis formatted records it changed the agressiveness in the beats they chose and artist had to switch up their styles just to stay relevant when he dropped that record.

I guarantee when He drops “Detox” which is a metaphor hes using to cleanse Hip Hop it will change this Music Scene as it is now and will start a new era again in Hip Hop. Dre doesnt take 7 or 8 years to drop a album and it not change the Dynamics of the Game which his last album did.

I think ur hearing him announce a release date personally for the first time because i think there is a sense of urgency within the industry insiders who want to see a shift in the game before its too late to do anything about it so ur now seeing him talk about it now, not just because he thinks its ready but theres a big push behind the scenes for him to drop the record

If ur disgusted by the direction hip hop has gone u will be satisfied and relieved when this record drops

Even tho if Detox doesn’t go plat i still think that it will be a great anticipated album. I actually think it will go plat it seem like alot of fans has been focusing and putting so much of there attention towards this album. Not only that i know for a fact that dr dre has alot of good ft and great production on the album. I just hope that his lyrics is on point and with that i think his album will sell well.

The Detox album will be a great album but im not sure about Detox shittin on Tha Carter 3 when the Cater 3 album sold 2x mill. I mean know disrespect to dr dre but that Carter 3 went plat first week and now its at 2x mill so imma keep my mouth shout on that. I mean i really don’t want to come off saying that Detox will shit on Tha carter 3 when the Cater 3 album sold was a classic. I mean what will happen if the Detox sold less then the Carter 3 alot of ya’ll would be feeling stupid unless ya’ll are talking about lyrically. But still lil wayne killed on the Cater 3 album lyrically and im not even a fan and i cope the album so im not gonna judge. But it seem like lil wayne at this point is now a threat dude went plat and now every rapper want to compete to see who can sell more the first week.

detox????? lmmfao dre is bluffing again to see how strong the demand is…detox and coming until 2015 when the music industry no longer will use CDs as albums

but shit if detox come out this year the industry will shake up harder then chicks do for cash. and i hope him and jay drop the same day cuz if they do you will see record numbers for that week in sells much more than kanye vs 50….this will be a real heavyweight fight with both jay and dre going plat in a week you heard it here 1st

Undercovermc wrote on July 23rd, 2008 at 11:22 am

Lexdiggy wrote on July 23rd, 2008 at 1:31 pm

I agree with you to a certain extent (@ # 36). Dre’s fan base is much older than the majority of the kids that purchased the Carter 3. Most of Dre’s original hardcore fans (NWA era) are serving life in prison or 6 feet deep. His fans from The Chronic era are the last of the Generation Xers (76-80) will buy. We know the West will support him far greater than the East goes out to support Premier (don’t get it twisted, Premier is the God and by far my most favorite beat maker/DJ…saw him do a live set last night at Blush…can’t believe he had Kraftwerk’s “Numbers” in his playlist), but will those fans of Souljah Boy, Hurricane Chris and Lil Boosie rush out to buy the Detox when they really have no correlation to the blood, sweat and tears that Dre has put into his career spanning almost four decades. The longer he waits to drop Detox, the higher the expectation bar rises for him to deliver content that will not only make fans happy but yield numbers to make the executives happy. I’m sure his budget is bananas.

39.
Chi cities savior wrote on July 23rd, 2008 at 2:30 pm

i dnt think lil boosies souljah boys, or hurricane cris fan base is even smart enough to understand what is going on with dre dropping the detox. and weezys fan base??????? they are so stuck on tha dope head they dnt see no other rappers
