Nas Protest Fox News For Racism

Nas’ very public disdain for Fox News continued Wednesday (July 23) when he teamed up with the Web site ColorOfChange.org to protest outside the network’s Manhattan headquarters on Wednesday (July 23) and present a petition to the news organization. Color of Change gathered more than 600,000 signatures to try to curb what it considers biased reporting on Fox’s part.

It’s time that the responsibility trickles down to a more recent generation man.

These kids out here need to see what leadership is and receive some guidance. They are so desperate they are willing to risk their lives to represent G-Unit, Wayne, Bloods, or Dipset. They really need to understand a better quality of life and how to stand and fight for yourself/change.

I’m glad somebody has an interest and an opinion on something other than the Ice-T/Souljah Boy beef.

cosing # 4…Nas sit ur ass down u ain’t Tupac and why wasn’t u readin a speech and protesting before the album came out. and if ur gonna read a speech atleast, atleast sound like u mean it.

im not saying he doesn’t care at all about the issue, i just think his motives for the speech/song and protest are not 100% genuine..i think it’s all for publicity and not necessarily to fight the casue… cuz when u fight something like this from the heart…. u fight it 24/7 365 and not just when u have an album out.

Yall so damn stupid, When someone does something positive it’s a publicity stunt. What does it matter? Did yall get out there? You don’t have an album to promote! I’d rather see him promote his album the positive way, then goin to shoot a dude just to be on the news… IDIOTS

13.
Lodi Dodi wrote on July 23rd, 2008 at 9:52 pm

I honestly don’t think it’s a publicity stunt. I don’t really care about the issue too much… but if you’re going to protest in front of a bunch of white people and business people, at least pull your pants up. Dude got his pants saggin and shit, how do you expect people to take you seriously when you’re not even presenting yourself respectably. That’s my opinion.

14.
jad wrote on July 23rd, 2008 at 10:04 pm

u need publicity when u protest. thats how u get heard by taking it to the streets. the people need to here what u got to say. how u not do that without publicity where u goin do it? in yo fuckin house. GO NAS!

NAS has a valid point about FOX. Here is a question, when was the last time you saw an African American reporter and at that when was the last time you watched an African American show on their network.

uneducated blacks say publicity stunt

Whites in Denial say publicity stunt

lol educated analysis: Nas is on point

this is the same station where a broadcast journalist advocated for “Killing Obama” and in those exact words last month

and tried to label nas as one of the most dangerous MC’s to ever pick up a mic due to 2 songs over his 15 year career “Made You Look” “Shoot Em Up”

PEOPLE WAKE UP
You need the media to draw attention to this fox news bull shit

you need publicity

SMH

How can people watch fox news and actually believe they are hearing the truth. It’s true fox news is right-wing and not all racist, but Bill O’Riley definitely is. I’m pretty sure that’s who the statment was aimed at.

Saying that if Nas will take Jesse Jackson spot is like saying if Lil wayne will take jay-z spot. But then again being a civil right activist and being a rapper are two different things. I mean dude ain’t never did what Jesse Jackson has done as far as march the street or preach and even dealing with other. In my opinion i would say no Nas will not take Jesse Jackson’s spot but dude is tryin and helping alot unlike most rapper.

I was in attendance at the protest. It was a great moment for hip-hop IMO. I got some videos of the full speech and his press Q&A session afterwards http://www.youtube.com/users/hiptics

WHITE BOY wrote on July 23rd, 2008 at 11:29 pm

I also think that Nas and Jesse Jackson are on different level Nas reps hiphop Jesse reps civil right. And not only that Jesse Jackson in my opnion is a hippocrate so for Nas to take Jesse spot would be a bad idea. In my opinion the best rapper who ever spoke out was Tupac dude was honest and a real leader. But as far as the new voices or leader of this generation in my opinion would be any rapper who rap about real issues that goes on in this world.

In response to the question i have a question… which Jesse jackson? The one around 20-30 yrs old or the guy we’ve seen since the 80’s?

I hope he doesn’t become the man we’ve seen since 80 something but if he comes close to what I know and believe about the man prior to that time (the man of principle) I hope Nas comes close if he does fall short!!!

Judah wrote on July 24th, 2008 at 4:25 am

For the previous commentors only focusing on Nas’ grammatical errors and heavy use of slang you prove to be the real mis-educated negroes. Nas and his agenda is as real as Malcom X or Martin Luther King. We need to support his effort and wake the f$$K up. Being so called educated and so called well spoken; tolerating Foxs’ disrespect is even more blasphemous!!

Nas do your thing. You are a great artist!!!!!! Keeping standing up for the brothers and the sisters. I wish I was in NY when this went down. I would have been there to support the movement. All the haters criticize what you do but what that means is they are watching, listening, and aware. One more thing that song is crazy, I’m unplugged from the matrix doctrine.

I’m riding with NAS!!.. I don’t think its a publicity stunt at all.. HATERS are so damn ugly!..its sad.. if you would watch the news, and see some of the bullshit that FOX News Put out there you should want to protest too.. I’ve been thought about it..but I can’t the public’s attention like an artist of Nas’ caliber can produce. If it was a publicity stunt, he would have done it before the album dropped, so that more people would buy it that first week.. he’s speaking the truth, and anybody who can’t see that is a fuckin hater! and need to open their fuckin eyes and see whats going on. .I bet most of the haters on here don’t even know what he’s talking about! Its a major issue.. and I’m really mad that somebody toook the time to write “publicity stunt” a million times..get a life, and stop hating..open your eyes and see what’s going on in the world. And you will know why Nas felt the need to speak out publicly about this.
