Kobe Bryant’s Response To Game 4(Are Jordan Comparisons Dead With Another L?)
The Lakers blew a 24 point lead and lost game 4 to go down 3-1 against the Celtics. Since Kobe starting winning rings some of his fans have constantly compared him to Jordan. Personally I thought these people were smoking and that Jordan is another level based on accomplishments and what he got done as the star player for the team. Jordan never lost a Finals series, while this could be Kobe’s second. What are your opinion’s on the comparisons and will the results of this year’s finals change your opinion?

No! Kobe is his own man and will have his own acheivements. KObe wasn’t in Jordan’s same situation so it is what it is. Like in music I don’t consider any one a G.O.A.T. cause if you don’t know what a persons appeal was in there time then its worthless… I’ll never know what the Big O, Elgin, or even Tiny archibald did for the league when they came so I can’t say Magic is greater but he’s the greatest ball player I’ve ever seen. But the question should be what’ll happen to the lore of Kobe if they happen to pull out the series and he get’s a 4th ring with a team totally different team than he won the 1st 3 rings with!
Yeah I know the odds are NOT in our favor… but its still not over!!!

Wow. You know i sometimes, try and hit people up side the head during this time when they debate over how ” good ” the bulls of the 90s were and then i become completely baffled and astonished when people compared D.WADE…. Yes, D.WADE to MJ. Or how about trying to Compare the spurs who won 4 championships through what 8-9 years to tha BULLS of the 90s who had two threepeats…That shit was literally disgusting, i tell you. I nearly lost all my love for tha game but it shows what time frame we are in as far as what tha fuck is wrong with the leagure. A Lack of Respect, Dignity, Reverence, and Accomplishments.
With that being said we all know that Kobe Bryant has accomploshed allot in a very short time frame. Understand this, that he is still young so he has a good 6-8 years left in his gas tank to play. This series, however i do agree will put it in perspective for many of us who even thought of comparing Kobe to MJ. Which isnt a buffoonery thought, because Kobe has done it all. Won 3 rings, won the MVP, won the all star award, been on all NBA teams, been on the All defensive teams (which i think most people forget MJ was unbelievable defensively), is getting ready to win the gold at the Olympics and for the past 3-4 years has really shown progress as a player as to whos the best in the league. His killer instinct also matches MJ. Mike always had that instinct where he wouldnt want to lose didnt care about anything else other than winning. I think Kobe deserves the credit of being compared, but once again now that they are basically done in this series we can put any doubt that we had of Kobe being greater than MJ to rest for the time being until Kobe wins another ring.
People perserve the love for the game. You know there’s not even words to describe what MJ meant to tha game or even sports period. I think him leaving the game and having personal issues. Coming back and winning another 3 rings pretty much puts him as the G.O.A.T. His cultural impact is bar none, literally. Outside probably Tiger Woods or Muhammed Ali, i dont think there has been an individual who has impacted sports in general. I think in order for you to be considered a G.O.A.T you have to have impact like that. Kobe has had some impact on the court, but it hasnt shown off the court. Especially with the legal issues that he has had.. Not only that, not being able to sell his shoes or his brand.. Also factors in. Even though that has absolutely positively nothing todo with his game… MJ, did it. and that’s why we look at him.. as No one else being able to touch him on or off the court.
So to answer REALTALKNy’s question. NO, MJ’s legacy is still greater than anyone else before or after the game.

Hell naw the Kobe comparisons aint dead. That fact that it started shows that it aint about the rings cause Kobe only got half as many. But its about personal achievements and skill level. If there was to be anyone compared to MJ by far it would be Kobe. MJ played in a different era and had better players around him though. How you can fault Kobe when people can’t even figure out who his Scotty Pipen is?…Is it Lamar Odom (somtimes)…Pau Gasol (hardly)….from the past 3 games Kobe’s best number 2 has been Sasha Vujacic (SMH). And Lebron James (heir apparent) has shown last year that no matter how good the individual is it can’t be done at this level with just 1 great player and a bunch of scrubs.
Kobe is 29 and already has 3 rings….Jordan didnt win his first until 28-29. Im sure that if Kobe stays on his current course (no serious injuries) throughout the next 8-10 years and the Lakers make the trades Kobe can pick up at least 2 more.
Larry Bird lost in the finals, Magic Johnson lost in 3 finals. Does that diminish his overall legacy as a top 10 player of all time just cause he only got 5 rings out of 8. Get the fuck outta here.

^^^^^^^^^Yo…niggas act like Kobe was Jordan Farmar back when the Lakers won the championships with Shaq. Kobe was still a huge part of the puzzle. And had it not been for a total collaspe on Dallas’ part and DWAYNE WADE Shaq wouldnt have won without Kobe either.
Shaq wouldn’t have done shit to prevent the Celtics from winning this year. It is just their year. Shaq is too old and too slow to help ANY team let alone the Lakers.
As far as Kobe vs MJ. Obviously people will give the edge to MJ and rightfully so. But we don’t have the complete picture with Kobe. He is not even 30. What if Kobe goes on to win 3 more rings? Would it matter that he was 6-8 in the finals.
Furthermore. Kobe never asked to be compared to Jordan, he’s actually asked people to stop. Its an unrealistic and unfair thing to do. MJ was a beast in his own right and a god among mere mortals. The only person that can BE Michael Jordan is Michael Jordan. But props to Kobe for making a name for himself in the wake of the “Jordan era”.

This is no one man game, it never will be. MJ had Pippen and much better and experienced role players than the Lakers have on thier roster now. Magic had Kareem/Baylor. Bird had everybody. Kobe may just be 29 but he has been in the league 12yrs, most of which he has been unfairly compared to Mike. I wish people would let him be his own man. IDK Why but I still think that the Lakers could win in 7, I mean think about it, They never lost to the Celtics by alot of points, In the past 3 games, They lost by 6 and won one by 6. It was Kobe’s fault they lost last night! He knows that if he is the passer in the first half, in the second half, he got to go crazy and take over the game no matter what, He got to score 30+ pts by himself in the second half and he didnt do that last night!!!

I love how everybody wants to mythologize the Bulls’ role players during Jordan’s run. Bill Wennington? Luc Longley? Will Perdue? Randy Brown? Dickie Simpkins? Jason Caffey?
Yes Jordan had Scottie Pippen, but he dominated an era that was dominated by big men. The league back then was about the power positions. Only recently did it become a smaller man’s game. Not to mention that the league is now softer and quick to call cheaper fouls. Phil Jackson himself said that with the rules they have today, Jordan would average 45 points per game.
But let’s get beyond stats. Let’s look at intangibles. As a few have pointed out,Kobe lost WITH Shaq but Jordan NEVER lost in the finals. Nor did you catch Jordan disappear in big games like Kobe has done in the past (see game 1 and game 4 of this series if you have a shitty memory). He also turned a shitty Bulls team and made the playoffs every year he played for the Bulls.
Kobe is one of the most skilled players to ever play the game. Offensively, he’s more skilled than Jordan (better handle, better outside shooting). But skills don’t always translate to results. Plus he’s nowhere near as good of a defender Jordan was. Kobe saves his energy on the offensive game and doesn’t carry that intensity on the defensive end. Jordan did and still managed to put up over 30 points per game.
Whether you want to talk intangibles or statistics, Jordan has the upper-hand. Everyone can say that Kobe is only 28-29 (forgetting that he’s been in the league for 11 seasons), but I’m almost certain that when it’s all said and done, he will still fall short of Jordan’s accomplishments.

I just got to say that I am so sick of people calling Michael Jordan the Greatest of All Time. That is one of the dumbest things I heard. If you want to call him the best player the NBA has ever seen thus far then fine. But as with everything else there will come a time when someone surpasses Jordan. Its inevitable. Jordan no doubt set the standard for absolute greatest but people are fools to think that there will NEVER be anyone greater. I am in no way trying to diminish what Jordan did but I think people actually get carried away with that shit. Jordan after all was still just a man. He worked incredibly hard, put his time in the gym, and had an incredible instinct for the game. Short of sellin his soul to the devil there will be someone to come along with the talent and drive to do it…Go 7 for 7 in the finals. I just hope it will be in my lifetime.
