  1. GB Says:

    first

  2. kidd Says:

dont let entertainment raise ur children… be a parent… david banner was on point…

  3. BLANCH DEVOROE Says:

Ok…this joint is gettin deep. Bet should promote this on dvd to schools/ rec centers/ ymaca’s so when they make a show that touches these topics in depth kids may hold more of a fresh understanding. Also make more of theses rappers hold positive forms to verify expression of art vs. reality. That sh*t should be mandatory for artist now…regardless of any specific music genre. Stop paying these artist just to be “artist”, because in this day and age our youth is so lost.
It’s been stated several times in the convo “parents gotta take care of their kids.” Ok… but Wat about the kid who doesnt have any parents??? Do we just say fu*k’em?? Society, artist, and the media have to reach out to those kids as well so lets make some psoitive changes.

  4. TRONE Says:

this show should be :: black image vs america or
    hip hop vs black image

why are these people talking about black people have been seen as such and such a way or in such and such a circumstance ?

why can’t these people focus on hip hop ?
the dicussion always goes back 2 black people or an image thats being portrayed.

they should criticize all of hip hop
they should criticize artist like eminem 4 talking about killing his wife , shooting people , strangling people , killing people , disrespecting his mother and wife , drugs , telling kids 2 do drugs and etc.

black women choosing the right man and hip hop are 2 different things
black women in the church has nothing 2 do with hip hop

some of those people they had on that show only want to
blame hip hop 4 the black community’s problems that have existed before hip hop

i live in the hood and hip hop doesn’t influence people 2 sell drugs , pimp , do drugs , or break the law
hip hop doesn’t dictate what goes on in the hood

i think its stupid for having this show it doesn’t focus on hip hop only except for mainstream hip hop and black people’s image

this show is just a collision of egos , this show is not gonna change anything

  5. TRONE Says:

this show should feature 50 cent , oprah , and mos def
i would like 2 hear there views on this show

  6. WRECK Says:

JUST SKIP THE PARTS AND LISTEN TO DAVID BANNER TALK AND U’LL GET THE RIGHT ANSWER…DEM OLD PROFFESORS NIGGAS DONT KNOW SHIT

  7. IamRealTalk Says:

I agree wit wut Banner sed last
but this show aint gonna change nothin

all these peope on the show are irelevant and unimportant to rap
kids dont know lyfe jennings or talib kwali

niggas wanna know what 50 or otha important artis got 2say

  8. WHITE MILKIE WAY........................CHICAGO Says:

What is deelishis doing up there she has nothing to do with hiphop all she has is dat azz. Big up to DB i agree with him it seem like him and talib kweli are the only one’s making sence.

  9. tuth Says:

ths is gettin stupid….their totally off topic….its more like their discussin every issue in the black society, which most do not directy ralate to rap videos or songs

  10. Benny from the Bronx Says:

they got deelishis to stand up for women?thats almost as bad as getting superhead to do the same.they got to so better next time.

  11. TRONE Says:

those people on the stage do not want to talk about the reality of the situation… its all about the $$$ money $$$

the record labels only focus is 2 make money so in order for an artist 2 stay on a record label he needs generate certain amount of money if they don’t generate a good profit there off the label no matter positive or negative .

those artist have 2 pay bills just like anyone of us
its an artist job 2 be an artist
its like some those people on this show is saying stop doing the thing that makes u money

at the end of the day, people want 2 be entertained they don’t focus on the image being portrayed
people are not going give there money 2 something that they don’t approve of

  12. nik Says:

Did these problems exist before Hip-Hop? Idk, I’m an 80’s baby (83′) so all I have know is Hip-Hop co-existing or being the soundtrack to urban life (born in Newark,NJ)

@ TRONE I am not sure how long you have been into Hip-Hop or maybe you are just into rap music, but the music has been a part of Black culture for about 30 years now. There is no separating the two. From the burgeoning of the crack era, to the bling era, and now to the every one wants to be a pimp with money, hoes, and clothes era.

I am not sure what you all are not getting but Hip-Hop music is a first insight into Black America for not only a lot of Whites in this country, but for people of different countries across the globe. It also is an insight into the ‘living good’ lifestyle for a lot of underprivileged youth. That is why it is so important on how you choose to represent your music.

You put out these images and then wonder why people treat you like a criminal or why women don’t get respected or why the youth take everything you say and do and emulate it.

I’m not saying to take away that part of their expression but what I’m saying is the variety is gone, the creativity dead…which is why it said Hip-Hop is dead.

And Trone wow at your last statement….so you DO agree with me that the artists just need to come out and admit that they do it all for the money….b/c yesterday you said that was a bad idea.

  13. county of kings Says:

lets say i’m a rapper right
and as a rapper coming from the hood, i know how hard it was growing up in a single family home, and how hard my mother had to work to make sure i could look halfway decent.
and i also know that without that strong male role model in my household, i would look to entertainers, athletes, teachers, etc to “show me the way” and “how to be a man”
so when i make my music and videos, i make them for “my people” right?
and knowing that the majority of “my people” dont have male influences and male role models, it would be in my best interest to guide these youths in a positive way.
it is in no way my responsibility to do so, but being a black man, coming from the hood, it would be in my best interest, and the best interest of my people to gear my music and videos in a positive light.
if the mentality of my people in hood changes positively, it will have an effect on my kids, my kids kids, my neighbors kids, my cuzins kids, etc
rappers know that their fans in the hood might not have parents at home, cuz they working 2 or 3 jobs to stay alive, so rappers know kids look to them for guidance, they dont have to mold them, but why wouldnt u want to help your people

  14. WHITE MILKIE WAY.......................CHICAGO Says:

co sign #10 benny from the bronx’…LOL exactly deelishis standing up for women bitch please with all the nude modeling. And her being on the flavorflav show with 20 other bitches she need to focus on standing up for herself and respect herself to. But anyway know disrespect but i hate the title of this show this ain’t got shit do with America. I mean come on Hiphop vs America LOL i can see if it was called Hiphop vs Hiphop listener or the quality of hiphop or maybe even Hiphop vs black American since they are the main one’s who have a problem with it then that what it can be called no offense. But hiphop vs America i totally disagree with that it doesn’t make any sense to me then again maybe there a reason.

  15. chosen1 Says:

Dyson was on point. This whole thing is a lot deeper than you think! Problem is that most of the young consumers of hip hop music don’t understand the complexity of the issues and therefore call scientific theories crap. Which is absolutely normal.. and only a few of them will understand the whole complexity after they have grown up and are beyond their 20s.

  16. Yep! Says:

    Co-sign @nik @chosen1 and @county of kings. Good post!!

  17. TERROR Says:

now everybody heard what deelishis said rite?? she rather take the guy with money that cheats than the broke guy that cheats. so in other words the guy with money just like the wife beater and the cheater period get his way all the time. she just played hersself. cuz thats the mentality of young women, he can cheat but he better have money!! and they say men are dogs. atleast dogs are loyal 2 their masters. bitches aint loyal 2 nobody. ok guys now u know how these women are now. if u got money u can get away with shit.

  18. nik Says:

    @ TERROR

First of all, there is no need for you to be throwing around bitch. I wish guys would quit being so bitter.

Out of all that was discussed that’s the one thing you heard which was discussed for less than a minute ::smh::

Secondly, you are proof that people hear what they want to hear. What she said is, people today try to put glory into women dating regular guys(she did not use the word broke), as she once did, until she found that the praised ‘regular’ guy cheated, lied, and was a scandalous as the ‘rich’ ballin dude that everyone tells you to stay away from.

She said if she has to put up with that behavior from men period then she might as well date someone with money.

The point of the segment was men and women becoming better mates for each other.

  19. WHITE MILKIE WAY......................CHICAGO Says:

co sign #17 terror’….good point LOL deelishis is confused.

  20. Mike Says:

    #nik

I agree with you 100%. I can’t belive that some folks don’t understand what the point of that discussion was all about. It was very clear to me.

  21. ????????????? Says:

  22. nik Says:

I hope everyone checks out the WHOLE show and not just these clips

  23. jad Says:

this is some bullshit. people just sit up there to get paid. expect for banner

  24. Sasuke2k Says:

Patriarchy is not all bad… They’re defining Patriarchy as male chauvinism, sexism and misogyny. Every term of position (or role) in life has seen its use of overabundant control by both genders. This doesn’t mean we make it into a malicious term. To completely abolish patriarchy would dilute a man’s worth in this world, even more. A wife taking her husbands last name would seem superfluous. A man’s distinctive natural endowment of physical strength to protect and serve his wife & family would seem equivalent or futile to her. Even the way sex is performed would change because men are more in control of the pleasure being given.

Like I said, patriarchy and every other leadership term has its over usage and its iniquities at times. Just like water is essential to human survival, drinking too much of it can kill us or drown us. I’m against patriarchy in terms of it meaning women are second class, or men having complete control over everything. This is unfair to women who work hard that have a right to leadership. It’s evident that women can lead nowadays.

Patriarchy is innate to men and inevitable. Even women whether self-consciously or subconsciously support the good qualities of patriarchy because those qualities do exist.

Let me ask you this… If a man and woman both lay down to have a child but he has no says to whether it lives or dies once it’s in her stomach, is that not some form of matriarchy by our justice system?

  25. rakk Says:

I think Black women are doing better than black men in this society.I also think Black male guilt is shameful on blackmen who kiss ass in erroneous ways for political gain.Women have always run things the black community and now even in the white. They are more educated and more incorporated than most would lie to think or( share rather). You got feminine minded men trying to give advice as if they have all the answers.Maybe 20 years ago thiss BET Bs would fly but now times have changed and BET is behind still talkin about things as if it was a static state.

  26. Relicism Says:

Im frankly appauled at this show. Especially for them always saying that hip hop doesnt have this or that. Hip hop is extremely positive if u take the time to pay attention. People only look for whats wrong with something or why something is wrong. You have M1 and Talib kwali on the show for the one to come down on hip hop and say there is no good in it basically ignores the realness and the messages behind the music. If u listen to any kwali album ur getting awsome positive hip hop and the same with common. But u dont see them selling the most or on top of everything with positivity. People that want positivity and want knowledge then they buy that. Its annoying as coming from being a young male growing up in the 90’s error cause u have these older generations complaining now about the seeds they planted.

Why fight for the freedom of speech if u dont wanna hear what we have to say. Why fight for freedom if u want us to fall into this assumption of what black america is good or bad.

David banner and talib were hitting points on the money. And they need two years to touch on these subjects. These shows were there to blame hip hop for everything and when the couldnt they jump to black society.

And for black women, im turly upset about black women and hip hop cause like people before kick down the door and make it happen. Stop expecting black men to always put black women first when the first thing most black women make music about is something wrong with black men now adays. Im not gonna hold someone up thats punching me in the face.

I was listening to the radio the other day and they could only think of three fathers day songs to play. But there were a ton of songs for mothers. i heard a saying when i was young that u can speak something into existence and much as black women complain about horrible black men thats what they get. in a society of if u a gentleman ur a sucka, or if u do for u women u a lame, or if u not hood then ur lame. you get what u ask for.

just like the saying that behind every strong black man is a strong black women, but now shes in front and a black man is lame for being strong behind you but u dont want him in front either. F that i say.

Im tired of trying to find a strong black women to stand beside me. All of them now adays expect too much too fast or expect u to kiss they ass every single moment of the day. What happen to growing as a couple and getting to know someone.

Thats where the love has gone, cause all these dudes that could care less how a woman feels gets all the love. So who wants to fight doing the right when doing wrong is so easy. Every females favorite song now adays is by a coke head who is telling u to suck his dick(lollipop). i just dont understand. U cant have ur cake and eat it to.
