NBA Finals: The Celtics Have Won The Title & Smacked The Lakers In Game 6
This should be one of the more exciting NBA Finals compared to the last few years. Kobe seeks his first ring without Shaq, while Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, & Ray Allen play for their first ever NBA championship. Kobe went from rumors of leaving the team, to winning his first regular season MVP and reaching the finals. The Celtics management put together a monster squad with the three headed beast consisting of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce & Kevin Garnett. Anything less than the finals would of been a disappointment with that lineup in the East. Who do you think will take the throne as the 2008 NBA Champions?

While some people may think that this will be some reincarnation of the historic Laker-Celtic matchup of the 80s…I personally just don’t see it. The Lakers are so much more dominant its scary. The only matchup I see going the Celtics way is Gasol vs Garnett and if Odom and Fisher show up it won’t even matter.

KG is nice, defense & offense. But the liability is K. Perkins, who is he defending, he can’t check Odom, Pau, or Radmonovic. And honestly, all you got is KG & 2P’s. Rondo isn’t smart, skilled, or strong enough to deal with Fish. Ray Allen need help defending Kobe and Kobe will be putting cuffs on Ray. That 2-3-2 format should be revisited because obviously playing at home has a huge affect on the game play of not only the away team the the home team as well. The Lakers played like straight trash last night. The only thing you could take away was that they made the end score more respectable by chipping away at a 24 point deficit.
I really dont think that Rondo, Powe, and Perkins will play this inspired in LA. Young players tend to fold under pressure away from home as witnessed by Jordan Farmar, Sasha V. and Luke Walton. Of course Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher, and Pau Gasol have no excuse because they are supposed to be the leaders of the team and if they play their best then the series is tied at the very least.
I feel bad for Kobe….this is gonna be a gigantic let down. Almost as bad as not making the playoffs at all. You cruise thru the Western Conference (only losing 3 games) and then seemingly get run over by a freight train driven by Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.
I just hope for the Lakers sake they don’t get swept cause they might not recover from that.
But I’m more so hoping that the Lakers can pull off what the Heat did a few years ago and win 3 straight at home.

The celtics were the ones looking a bit confused tonight especially Garnett and Pierce. My only complaint is that the game was still close down the stretch even though the celtics played bad. The Lakers need to step it up if they gonna win the next two.

A game 6 win by Boston is NOT a guarantee. To begin the series the Lakers were the heavy favorites. After the first two games Boston was supposed to sweep or at least finish in 5. I will always be a Laker fan; I can’t stand the Celtics. But, I’m very happy for KB, Paul Pierce & Ray Allen. They are all at the twilight of their careers and getting that championship this year was important. I’m sure The Lakers will return to the finals again next year. the way i see it we only need to worry about 3 free agents (R. Turiaf, S. Vujacic, T. Ariza) Resign these guys but at a mininum cause they still have some proving to do!
DJ Mbenga, C. Mihm, I. Newble, C. Karl, don’t need to be retained.
DJ is restricted so him L.O. and V. Radmanovic can be dealt in a sign and trade for the likes of…
Theo Ratliff, Elton Brand, Shawn Marion, and maybe Jermaine O’neal.
Our frontline has no true post player and when Bynum gets back he’ll be the only one.
Ideal situation IMO…
Starters: Fisher pg, Bryant sg, Marion sf, Brand pf, Bynum c
Bench: Farmar pg, Vujacic sg, Ariza sf, Turiaf pf, Gasol c
This would improve the bench by adding some experience and solid scoring, and most importantly add some inside scoring and toughness to both units. The defense would improve by leaps and bounds too, Brand is a solid defender from what I remember but marion is the real steal he could be VERY importatnt and get that ring HE deserves along with Kobe’s 5th… ;0)
