He was top ten like 10-15 yrs ago. Just cause he got in the game really young and did a lot for Def Jame doesnt mean hes a top ten guy. He feels that way but its not true.

But with all due respect to everyone’s opinion but I think that LL Cool J set the Blueprint for every MC in how to construct a descent and complete album for the upcoming Hip Hop Generation 90’s and 00’s with that type of contribution to our artform does’nt he deserve to be in the top 10?
June 10th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
No, he doesnt deserve shit.
He made a couple classics. He is a pioneer. Credit is given.
But how much is too much? Who the FUCK is checking for LL’s shit?
He tried to generate a buzz the G-Unit way, flopped. Go back to flexing, all your fans are females. Men dont give a shit bout him. I personally dislike him. And all these homo pl commenting on his looks, who cares. Last banger he made as “Ill Bomb” on Funk Flex’s “the Tunnel”
even in that track the lyrics were sub par.
Dont even get me started on that track with JLO. Dear Lord…

Hell nah LL aint the G.O.A.T there is only one G.O.A.T and he died on September 13 1996. All these other rappers could fight for that second spot cuz 1 spot aint never going to be touched.

I don’t wanna sound old although I am probably older than most of those posting here, but one of the problems that I have with hip-hop listeners of today is that there seems to be a real lack of scope. It’s all short-term memory. Now as far as LL Cool J…he definitely deserves to be in Top 10 for a few reasons. Consider that my man started his career b4 a lot of posters here were born and his music now is still worth at least a listen. Imagine…over 2 decades worth of work and I can still say, lemme take a listen and see what’s up with L. That in of itself is an achievement. Most of his albums have gone platinum. How many hip-hop artists of today can say that? No as far as his fanbase. So what if it’s made up primarily of women…that has been LL’s lane for the longest, but that doesn’t mean that ‘I Need Love’ or ‘Hey Lover’ weren’t bonafide hits. Neither does it mean that ‘I Need A Beat’ or ‘Who Shot Ya’ weren’t bonafide hardcore hits. Stop pigeon-holing hip-hop and give the man his credit. 99% of today’s artists would die for LL’s rap credentials and that in itself makes him worthy of top 5-10 status.

Speaking to #8
Brotha you sound real confused right now. If you can’t respect the fact that LL been doing this since 84 I’d like to hear what you do respect.
If you don’t like L’s recent work fine but what true hiphop head won’t show love for a cat that made an album, listened to what alot you cats had to say about it, and backpacked to make another album that would be better? The man is rich. He doesn’t need to do this shit. How can someone be hiphop but hate one of its pioneers who some 24 laters clearly displays love for hiphop himself. Like his music or not. LL is visiable and active in hip today and serves as one of the few relevant links to hiphop’s roots. He as every right to be called the G.O.A.T.
Wake up

The combination of the gray, gold, and white match well with the gear he has on. Can’t wait to hear the mixtape to hear what he has to say. Long live the G.O.A.T.
