So Now They Want To Call Barack, "Biracial," Instead Of Black
With a white mother from Kansas and a black father from Kenya, Obama is the nation’s first biracial candidate for president. The media, however, have continually called Obama the nation’s first major party “black candidate,” saying he could make history as the first “black president.” But is that accurate?
A columnist examining Obama’s background summed up his racial identity into one equation: white + black = black.
Full Story: CNN
You know once you got an ounce of black in you, white people won’t accept you. I’m sure previous presidents have been, “biracial,” but were called, “white.” I think this shouldn’t even be an issue, lets just focus on what each candidate has to offer.

Why is race polarised everytime an issue emerges in America? I admire this because I believe that here in South Africa, where the minority is white, if white people here cared as much as black people from America about getting an equal voice to the majority in the country they live in then things would be better.

“You know once you got an ounce of black in you, white people won’t accept you.”
And once again RTNY makes racist generalizations… fuck you

if you half black you black
June 10th, 2008 at 9:24 am
see and that the reason why i said that obama is better then this. I mean if this whole thing is gonna be about race then i think that bad for America. I mean this is a man who struggled to got into this campaign. Now that he in and making progress now people want to judge him for his skin color. I mean i didn’t know that America was still stuck on race and to me that racist. I mean you don’t see that being done in other countries they got different colored president and female president to. And i think American should be even and honest and talk about McChain old ass. Dude is like 72 years old be shouldn’t be president at all and i have a problem with that. I mean wouldn’t be surprised if he died of old age during the election man. I mean dude is seriously a granny and what the fuck is a granny doing as president…dude ain’t gonna last them 4 years man
June 10th, 2008 at 9:57 am
^^^^^^^^^^^^Are you fucking serious??…U didnt know America was still stuck on race?…Where the fuck u been at?
Yo…OF COURSE race is gonna be made a big deal in the election. This is a racist country and it is the first time a NON-white man has a chance to become president. Maybe after a black person has be president a few times then MAYBE it wont be an issue anymore.
As far as Obama’s race goes, when anyone looks at him they see a BLACK MAN, he identifies himself as a BLACK MAN, no one has ever said he is not a BLACK MAN. While yes technically he is biracial, obviously he gets his phenotypical traits from his father. And while kids tend to take the religion of their mother, kids tend to take the race of their father.

OBAMA IS ACCEPTED STOP BITCHIN REALTALKNY LOL FOREAL DUDE ALREADY WON McCain aint winning shit
June 10th, 2008 at 10:09 am
why r u takin shots at whitey, Nigel? By making broad generalizations about white people saying: “once… they won’t accept you.” That’s some ignorant shit.
What if a white person likes Obama, but he sayin: “Damn, he equally white and black, so why doesn’t he say he’s both.” Seems like if you’re technically both, why not embrace both instead of just ignoring one. Then it seems like you only want one and not the other
June 10th, 2008 at 10:51 am
It don’t matter how they identify him. He considers himself to be black so he’s black!
June 10th, 2008 at 11:50 am
If you saw Barack Obama on the street and he wasn’t a politician, so you knew NOTHING about him, would you say “He’s bi-racial” or would you say “He’s black”? Same thing with Halle Berry and Alicia Keys-they identify as black. They’re all considered to be black by society’s standards as a whole, not just white America. That doesn’t mean they’re not acknowledging their white parent–especially in these cases because their mothers were the white ones and the ones who raised them because their fathers left them as children in each case. Bi-racial people will always be viewed as black if they look black. Somethings never change.

#10 reckless’…fall back dog i know we still stuck on race. But all im saying is people are gonna try to talk bad on obama with race just to try to bring him down. And curtain supporters are falling for that non-sense which is shameful. I mean all im saying is what are we gonna get out of him being mix is it gonna help fix what going around in this country NO”. And that why i have a problem with it being that it doesn’t matter. And if people are falling for that non-snse then i really fell bad for America. If i owned this website i wouldn’t even post this type of shit being that it doesn’t matter. Instead of picking on obama pick on John McCain AKA George Bush who already fuck up are country. But don’t nobody say shit about that i guess race is more important then that right.

Some people have a point while most are exaggerating a little and/or being ignorant themselves on the subject. Nigel was stating the stereotype of being black. While it is 2008 now, time’s have changed and continue to accelerate, but there will always be the stereotypical perspective on many aspects in life. Each race has their own stereotype on people and even their perspective on their own race. It’s human nature. But we should be able to look past it into accepting genuine people like Barack Obama and that’s why he’s taken the lead for the presidential campaign. Even when you become president, doesn’t mean you rule the world though. Hopefully he can influence many people to follow some of his takes on helping the U.S.

C’mon on ya’ll. Keep it FUNKY. You ALL know good and well that 95% of you consider that man Black, just like you do every other biracial person (Black + anything), ie., Kimora Lee Simmons, Keisha Cole, Lauren London, Halle Berry, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, Mario Van Peebles, Boris Kodjoe, Shemar Moore…I mean people are still laughing at Tiger for that ‘Caublasian’ statement
But NOW, since there is someone bi-racial about to make some history, this White ancestry is being acknowledged. You know how long bi-racial people (mixed with White) have been trying to be acknowledged as White? LMAO….oohhh this life, this life
June 10th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
you aint black if your mixed point blank end of story black is black meaning not being biracial and obama is biracial not black…
June 10th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
“I think this shouldn’t even be an issue, lets just focus on what each candidate has to offer.”
Then why are you focusing on it and making it an issue?
No hate but thats hypocritical.

cosign 4, dickhead ass clown always making stupid generalizations about people.
June 10th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Some people need an excuse to support him. Because supporting a black president may not be acceptable.
The best way to describe race in my opinion is through the cops. All these females and niggas i hear talkin about what they mixed with is bullshit. I say when you get pulled over and a cop give you a ticket, whatever race they check off on the ticket is what race you are. Race is perception not an explanation. Obama is black in the eyes of this country.
June 10th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
stupids we all are mixed how u think there are so many shades of black in america but black is the dominant especially if your father is black what color do you call an albino ha smart people?
June 10th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
@ #22 dumb ass we are not all mixed black is black and that’s that so tell me if we are all mixed what are blacks mixed with and etc. if you biracial you aint black period
June 10th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
Its sad reading a lot niggas comments in here. I mean niggas and white boys cause the Schools in this country dont teach real history. You’d swear black people started at fuckin slavery if you pick up majority of history books that go up to the highschool level.
No one speaks about little shit like Africans in Egypt having Jews in slavery and making them build the pyramids lol. Maybe because jews are the chosen people according to “religious freaks”. Its definitely time for change cause people mad at black people for no reason still. Maybe its cause we built this country for free and now that we have the right to vote we are showing support to a half black or my bad, “biracial” presidential candidate they dont like us even more. Some of you niggas need to put the mouse down & pick up a book here and there.
June 10th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Aite, let’s be real, this shouldn’t be an issue in an election, but considering the American wealth and dominance was built on the subjugation of Blacks, Native Americans, Asians, etc it’s definitely an issue. I have no problem with bi-racial people who want to identify with both sides or with one side of their heritage. BUT, we’ve all been conditioned Black and White Americans to only see the Black side, no matter how pale you are. Anybody heard of the one drop rule?
That being said, European history is celebrated and recognized all year in the US because that’s the ancestry of the majority of Americans. I think that’s why most bi-racial people identify with Black people more so than their European heritage. Also, many of them have been victims of the same racist treatment as the rest of us. So they can call themselves bi-racial, but when it’s mixed with Black more than often the reality of living in the US is that it’s not.
June 10th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
for everyone who knows their african american history, if u have one drop of black blood in you then you are considered black, period. there is no half white, half irish or that other bullshit pple be claiming. if u have some type of black blood in you, you black, thats the way it always was and will be.
June 10th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
I’m biracial and although I understand why Obama has identified himself as black, I don’t think he really had a choice. Often times if biracial people call themselves mixed, they get attacked from both sides—from whites who clearly see us as “other” and from blacks who think we’re trying to reject our blackness.
Obama’s multiracial background is key to understanding what he stands for.

Man…some of yall are very UN-knowledgable, #24…Africans may have had Jews in Slavery but it was no where near the brutality that whites did to Blacks…BLACKS WERENT ABLE TO READ, WRITE, SH*T, TALK, BOND, EAT, ETC…WITHOUT A SLAVE MASTER GETTIN IN THEIR A**…AFRICANS ALLOWED JEWS MUCH MORE OPPORTUNITY, MAYBE THATS WHY PPL DONT TALK ABOUT IT SMART GUY…Alot of ppl have the house slave mentality in this post, STOP HATIN ON BARACK…HE IS BLACK TO AMERICAN STANDARDS, IF YOU ARE (1/8)th black, that is your RACE in America and that is some factual SH*T…RTNY didnt make a racist generalization, technically, WHAT HE SAID IS FACT, MAYBE A LIL HARSH BUT NONETHELESS FACT…If you are (1/8)th black you are no longer white… #23, Take it easy on #22, what he stated isnt far from the truth…Its called an African-AMERICAN, most blacks are somewhat mixed with another race somewhere along their family tree unless they are pure African.
