D.C. Police Set Up Check Points To Curb Violence
Police in neon yellow vests stopped motorists traveling through the main thoroughfare of Trinidad — a neighborhood near the National Arboretum in the city’s northeast section. Police checked drivers’ identification and turned away those who didn’t have a “legitimate purpose” in the area, such as a church visit or doctor’s appointment.
The checkpoints were announced after eight people were killed in the city last weekend. Most of the killings occurred in the police district that includes Trinidad. Already this year, the district has had 22 killings — one more than in all of last year.

People are of course complaining that this is going against their constitutional rights. I can see how these checkpoints can be a huge inconvenience, but with 8 people being killed in the last weekend it is time for desperate measures. If I live in a neighborhood where people are getting killed left and right I welcome cops harassing people.

Yo…I live in DC(not in that area) and niggas out here are out of control….A lot of the people that actually live in that area were interviewed and said they welcomed the checkpoints because the violence is too much….Kids can’t even walk to school no more. People are afraid to walk to their cars all because people who don’t even live there come in and shoot up the joint.

true story i lived in Dc and my boy used to live on trinidad…that is wild ass block right there…12 year old niggaz is straight head bustas out there..a 7 th grader will blast you out of your sox ova there…with that being said what are these check points going to do???I know yall like to talk about the wire on here thats like one of those dumb ass poice moves that mcnulty would be mad at and shit…that shit is just to make people feel better…but niggaz is still gonna die in Dc because thats all they know out there…Its like the wild wild west out there true story and starts wit them in like 6th 7th grade…those lil niggaz are in gun fights and block wars and shit…no bloods no crips nothin just hoodz and blocks…that shit is wild…Im gonna sound like a broken record but they need to be refomrin those schools and socio ecnomic situation down there not just searchin people and lockin them up…which they love to do down there is lock niggaz up…and they come home worse ready to go back in and do that life bid…thats why its so many gay niggaz in DC too…them niggaz spend most of they life in jail down there…..now back to trinidad…Jus like harlem, Newark, and many other urban areas they are trying to move the black people out of Dc and into pg county maryland…and they are buildin like quarter of a million dollar condos on trinidad…com on baby that shit is hood as hell and they got some luxury condos ova there…which is why they put that checkpoint right there to protect the new residents…but its wild hoods all over that city and whats going to happen there???
