Poppin:
Lets first take a look at what was poppin at this year’s BET Awards. Al Green had an amazing tribute with Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, Maxwell(damn where they found him) singing some of his hits. Al had a short acceptance speech and proceeded to have the entire audience standing and singing along to, “Let’s Stay Together,” & “Love & Happiness.” It was good to see R&B bridge the gap and see everyone in the crowd know the lyrics of his hits. It goes to show classic music is timeless.
Speaking about bridging the gap, Alicia Keys brought some of the biggest R&B groups of the 90s with TLC, En Vogue & SWV making cameos. Each group sang one of their biggest hits along with Alicia Keys. Great idea and performance even though T-Boz did sound off. Damn Alicia Key’s hips were calling me…
Chris Brown is know for killing award show performances, unfortunately he started with the boring, “With You.” But he switched it up and brought a sexy Ciara to perform, “Take You Down.” The water falls making shapes an spelling names was crazy. The crotch shot of Chris Brown, WAS NOT NEEDED! Damn Ciara I will take you down anytime baby. The dance moves between Chris Brown & Ciara were the best of the night.
Usher had the special effect heavy intro for the show with, “Love In This Club.” He gave the Usher performance you are use to over the last few years. The dancing and setup was on point. People may knock him for not actually singing, but it is what it is.
Ne-Yo did his damn thing an kinda re-enacted the video for, “Closer.” The man is a true performer, he can do his dance moves without being out of breath. He made things interesting by working the stage, the audience and even brining out the Jabbawockeez.
Nelly’s performance with Ciara & J.D. was lively with Nelly & J.D. starting from the crowd and people in the background playing basketball. Ciara’s thighs got my attention as soon as they hit the screen. Nelly then brought out Fergie for,”Party People,” which was ok even know the song isn’t that poppin.
Floppin:
The most hyped and anticipated performance of the night was Mr. A Milli, Lil Wayne. He was joined by T-Pain who was rocking a T-Wayne shirt. Lil Wayne decides to start things off with, “Got Money,” instead of the obvious, “Lollipop.” Audience wasn’t too live during, “Got Money,” but got hype for, “Lollipop.” But the audience died down after a while and Lil Wayne was out of breath. But He managed to kill, “A Milli,” which drove everyone crazy. I was expecting more since he was the closing act and most anticipated performance.
Rihanna was signing on point, but, “Take A Bow,” just got boring after a while. She should of switched up the song after a verse.
Young Jeezy brought out Kanye West to perform his new single, “Put On.” Jeezy was pretty boring during his verse with a pretty straightforward performance. Maybe he should of had some cats on stage with him to get things hype. Kanye West comes out and first messes up, then proceeds to perform with an annoying auto-tune effect for his entire performance. This was definitely a disappointment from Jeezy Hamilton & Kanye.
Keyshia Cole came out looking on point. Not sure why she started on some platform but she did her thing. For some reason they decided to do, “Let It Go,” and Keyshia looked awkward trying to bust out some dance moves and ended up out of breath. Lil Kim lil thick ass came out but things still were off.
T-Pain has a creative circus setup for his performance. He then brought out Flo-Rida for, “Get Low,” and Rick Ross(where your under shirt) for, “Boss.” Then DJ Khaled, Big Boi & Ludacris for the, “I’m So Hood,” remix. Pretty much a bunch of songs everyone is tired of.

Usher looked like he tried too hard dancing, he need to let it flow. Ne-yo was the 2nd best performance wit the Jabbawaccez. Jeezy did alright but yeezy stole the show. As far as performances went…I think this year was the best overall BY FAR! Everybody did they thing. the best one I thought was Alicia Keys…She was on point and she brought on the classic girl groups of the 90s. My favorite performance and most entertaining was Lil Wayne but the best And most classic performance was Alicia Keys. She was lookin like an Egyptian nubian queen and her dance moves were hot. I also did enjoy the classic girls group of the 90s i just wish that salt N pepper were there. But anyway beside that the rest of the artist were cool nothing special. And to be honest im getting sick and tired of the same ol artist that they through on to these awards shows. I think they need to reach out to other artist to come and perform cuz the same ol artist is getting a lil bit boring and non special. I really don’t give a shit about watching the awards show cuz all i wanted to see perform was lil wayne and alicia keys and that’s it.

i didnt see chris browns performance but as for the others usher was the hottest i would say and although wayne is my nicca and hot right now it was just a regular performance nothing special so wouldnt understand why somebody would say he did all good was just normal r&b singers usually always go all out with there performance more than the rappers anyway so naturally it will be one of them with the hottest performance they put on a all out show with lights and lots of effects and dances but at a hip hop show like summer jam or something then weezy would probably be the most liked unless jay-z was there cause nobody has a better performance and stage presense and would make the crowd go crazy when they see him than jay from a rapper

I felt there were too many breaks in the Ne-Yo performance but still the best performance at the awards. It seems that Ne-Yo can control his voice a little bit better while performing compared to his previous performances, unlike Chris Brown and Usher.

T-Pain: he killed that shit. that cirus shit was tight. best performance. rick ross needed to zip his jacket up. i like t-pain’s top hat.
Alicia Keys: her performance was good and the 90’s groups. good look alicia.
Nelly: i didn’t care for this
Al Green: Al did that shit and good look with jill scott and maxwell. al’s performance was bangin
Young Jeezy: his was good but whats up with kanyes auto tune.
Rihanna: it was boring
Chris Brown: him and ciara was killed that. nice mohawk chris.
Keyshia Cole: it was alright
Usher: i didn’t like the fact he wasn’t singing but the dancing was good
Ne-yo: he was great! and he brought out the Jabbawockez that was good

Keyshia needs a lot of work PERIOD!!!!! What she did was what was expected, horrible. Lil Kim came in and gave it a little boost, but they fucked it up with the scream shit on “Damn That’s Hot”. It’s like they were trying too hard to get the crowd into, she shoulda listened to herself and just LET IT GO!!!! and just stuck to the stand-still slow song.
Usher was okay, it wasn’t what it shoulda been for an opening act (he should have gotten advice from my girl Beyonce on opening a show), matter of fact he should have did a performance for Pt. II w/ her and Weezy, since he didn’t do a video.
Chris B. did his thing, but WHHHHHHHYYYYY was Ciara even on the damn stage???????????????
Rihanna…………..for the first time I was impressed by her vocal performance, although she wasn’t dancing and singing at the same time it was a WHATEVER performance (really don’t care for her).
Al Green………..CLASSIC!
A. Keys did her thing, but i’ve heard better vocals from her, nice surprises with the girl groups though.
Ne-Yo did his thing………………..personally i think he should have won Best Male R&B NOT Chris Brown.
Nelly……….whatever, although i absolutely love Fergie her part was hot.
T-Pain killed the shit hands down, then Weezy’s performance.

Oh yeah, DJ Khaled(with his annoying ass) his performance with Rick Ross, Luda, and T-Pain was hot…..i really liked it i must say.

It’s so funny to me that everyone is saying how T-Pain killed it… I mean I liked the performance too, but if you take out all the other artists what exactly did HE do. Now I love his little hook in I’m So Hood but damn… how long can you make a living off hooks. He’s like the Nate Dogg of the the new millennium.
The awards show wasn’t horrible in my opinion, I actually liked seeing all them people from the past… SWV, En Vogue, TLC, and where did they find Maxwell… His voice is soooo sexy. Speaking of sexy I have to give it up to the ladies because they looked good.. Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Ciara (especially b/c of the dancing cuz she getting a lil thin), and Lauren London to name a few.
Wayne’s performance had a lot of hype but not a lot of flash. Damn, Al Green should closed b/c EVERYONE was bumping. A Milli had the crowd and I was def nodding my head at home but not b/c of the lyrics!!! He got some swagg and the crowd (IMO) was more excited that someone in rap can sell a million (THEREFORE he had to do A Milli) than they were that Wayne was killing it. Everybody happy abt that b/c it shows that rap can stay around longer in terms of sales BUT if the LYRICISM dies.. I’ma be heartbroken.

This year’s award show was WACK! There were a couple of good performances here and there but thats about it. The only reason I wanted to watch it was because I thought Beyonce wwas gonna perform wit Usher but the b*tch wasnt even in the building! I was so mad..
