Mr. Carter’s Coming of Age?

pic

“And next time you mention Pac, Biggie, or Jay-Z don’t forget about me”

Lil Wayne-”Mr. Carter”

Pac, Big, Jay-Z, and Wayne…? Sounds blasphemous right…or wrong?

Does “Mr. Carter” mark Lil Wayne’s “Coming of Age”? Is this his transformation from “Best Rapper Alive” to one of the “Greatest of All-Time?” And is the man arguably rap’s G.O.A.T co-signing?

Lil’ Wayne’s come-up is almost like a folk legend now. He shoots himself while posing in the mirror; he goes to college; he teamed with DJ Drama to create the highly successful Gangsta Grillz mixtapes Dedication I & II; his infamous cup of “purp” (or “lean,” “drank,” “sizurp,” or other names) and “smoke sessions”; the growth seen in 500 Degreez, Tha Carter I, & Tha Carter II; the incredible number of songs & guest appearances; and the acknowledgment that he kisses his Daddy in the mouth. It’s excess meets success.

The success has made Wayne a Hip-Hop superstar. It’s created what could be called a “cult” following, making him one of the most downloaded, listened, “googled,” watched, talked about, cited, and sought artist in the game.

It also has made him a target of ridicule. His unusual rhymes, disjointed narratives, and stream-of-consciousness style either invokes praises of genius or calls of garbage. There are those who see it as his courage to be different; his ability to be creative in a way no other rapper has ever been able to; and the characteristics that make his “swag” among the best in the game.

Thus Tha Carter III is Lil Wayne’s attempt to create the mainstream musical success that will transcend him to pop star status; yet also to prove beyond a doubt that Weezy F. Baby deserves to be consider not just one of the best rappers of the time, but one of the best ever.

The track “Mr. Carter” is Wayne’s declaration of independence. Lines like “Blind eyes could look at me and see the truth” & “got Summer hatin on me cause I’m hotter than the sun/got Spring hatin on me cuz I aint never sprung/Winter hatin on me cause i’m colder than ya’ll/and I will never, I will never, I will never fall/I’m being hated by the seasons/So fuck ya’ll who hatin for no reason” affirm two things: 1. that Wayne is claiming his stake to rap greatness; and 2. (for those who you who haven’t caught on) he doesn’t care about the haters—in fact, he seems to believe his greatness is even beyond the weather (definitely a Lil Wayne-type metaphor).

Weezy’s self-assertions of hotness are nothing new. Jay-Z on a track co-signing them is.

Jay’s been known to not be shy at taking shots at those who attempt to come for the crown (check the resume); or at reminding folks why he is lyrically superior to most.

Yet his bars on “Mr. Carter” sound less like him schoolin the youngin on why he aint there yet, and more like words of encourage to the next in line. He gives words of wisdom and advice (”Young Carter/go farther, go further, go hard/is that not why we came, if not then why bother?”) and reflections on his own legacy ( “I’m far from being the bastard that Marcy had fathered/Now my name’s being mentioned with the martyrs/the Biggie’s, and the Pac’s, with the Marley’s and the Marcus’”).

Most telling are Hov’s ending words, “I took so much change from this rap game/it’s your go;” to which Wayne proceeds to provide the songs ending verse. In fact, it’s as if Hov’s telling us (figuratively or literally…that’s still to be determined) that he’s stepping aside to let the next young Carter shine.

On “Coming of Age” from Reasonable Doubt, Jay chronicled his mentorship of a “understudy” he named to be his heir apparent; and ten years ago this year he told part two of the story, where now the lil soldier declares “I done came up/no more second in line/’98 these streets is mine.” Perhaps in 2008, Sean Carter is telling Dwayne Carter that he’s come of age; and now it’s his turn to attempt to wear the crown.

The question is whether it’s time for Wayne to work towards the top spot, or that he’s already there? Is he already among the rap’s G.O.A.T.s, or is this now his time to make his bid? While Hov isn’t clear on this, Wayne already has his mind made up. He says his name should be mention along with Tupac, Biggie, and Jay-Z.

But does that also mean his name should be mentioned with Nas, Rakim, KRS-One, or any other rapper who typically holds a spot in anybody’s “top” or “greatest of all time” list?

i dont think lil wayne has done enough as far as droppin’ classic albums to be considered as one of the “Greatest of All Time.” lil wayne has to drop at least 2 classic alums first cuz mixtapes dont matter as far as tryna be considered the “Greatest”….and i do see weezy’s name bein’ in the same breath as 2pac, Biggie, & Jay-Z but never above them..!!!

  21. rrahha Says:

Tell wayne to put out a classic album and then we can have a discussion, until then it doesn’t make any sense. Where are the standard police at?! that album is like at best a 3.5 mics (taking it back to source). not a classic. there’s too many skippable songs. way too many

  22. doughboy86 Says:

lol, man im a big weezy fan but fam you cant be a great just off hot mixtapes, you gotta make a hot album and carter III aint it…. so cut em off and throw nas or rakim up dere!!!!!

  23. ... Says:

    Nope
I think his dope, but i not a legend like
    Pac, Biggie, And Jigga.
    Sorry.

  24. doughboy86 Says:

or you could throw soulja boy or hurricane chris up dere lol j/k dont hate too much internet gangstas lol

  25. jad Says:

    gtujujkuk,j

  26. LOL Says:

I like wayne but he’s not a legend. maybe in the future only time will tell but he’s not on nas pac biggie or jay-z level now. he has a long way to go.

  27. Realla Says:

Sounds Good To Me, Jus Take Out Jay nD Replace Him Wit Kanye.

  28. Pounce Says:

Nas is the Isaiah Thomas of rap. Jay-z, Pac, Biggie are the jordan, magic and bird. (not in any particular order) but Isaiah always thought he should be mentioned with them but the general public didnt agree.

Anyway I always notice niggas hold wayne back because he doesnt have classic albums. Hes 25 and got in the game at 12. I dont know how many classics you suppose to put out during your teenage years but niggas gotta be realistic. Waynes Kobe, won rings early on now he headed back to the championship game with the same team but the teammates have changed. Fuck it, Kanye is LeBron to keep the analogy goin lol.

  29. Dirtybirdz04 Says:

Lil Wayne has been the rapper in the game in 06. No questions asked. His voluminous body of work has been unsurpassed. His Dedication Mixtapes and his Da Drought Series have been the best mixtapes/albums of the past 2 years. No one has put in the work that he’s put in and at the level he’s currently producing.

I think most people who hate on him, just don’t understand his references. He’s THAT random, he’s THAT good.

By the way, I’m not a bandwagon fan, I remember when he came up with the REAL Cash Money (Juve, BG, Turk, Wayne) and the only verse he got on Back Dat Azz Up was “drop it like it’s hot.”

The man has improved, show some love.

  30. D-Block Says:

LMAO..who cares if he calls himself a legend. He can say whatever he wants that still don’t mean he really is a legend.

If Vanilla Ice called himself the best rapper alive and a legend when he sold more records than anyone else in the early 90s would that made him a legend? The same goes for MC Hammer. No it wouldn’t. Artists can say whatever they want. Talk is cheap, but at the end of the day they need to put out classic albums and wayne has never put out any classic albums.

  31. What? Says:

    Not at this time….

  32. ~Jay Roze~ Says:

#27 Nobodys Knockin Wayne For What Hes Done But For The Nigga To Come Out His Jaw Talkin Bout he In The Same Cat As 2pac Big or Jay Is Just Fuckin Stupid and these Three legends rite Here made A Name for Themselves With Albums Not Mixtapes I Co-Sign With #19

  33. Blacklaw Says:

Wayne is definitely on the road to become a legend. Remember that he has been in the game since late 90’s. He “invented” “bling bling” and “drop it like it’s hot”. And I’ve heard his new album and I can tell you it’s great. But is it great enough?

  34. rrahha Says:

in response to Pounce (comment # 26). he gets the respect for being in the game so long and improving. but at 25 he should have at least 1 classic album. Nas, De la soul, Tribe, Mobb Deep, and quite a few others have released multiple classic albums before they turned 25. So to be a legend you must put yourself in legend status. Age isn’t an excuse.

  35. jad Says:

i think wayne is in the making of being up there. hes not there yet but his making his way up there.

  36. Mic Sorc Says:

I’m not a hater, okay, well maybe i am. but come on, yo. if you’ve been listening to hiphop for a minimum of 10 years, you’d have to see, this is some bullshit, man. he’s not the greatest, we just dont have much to pick from these days. I hate dennys and waffle house, but 3-4am on the way back from the club, thats all i have to choose from. Lil Wayne is the Waffle House of hiphop. He’s everywhere, you go to him when your musically hungry, but deep down inside, you wish you had something better and healthier for you musical appetite.

I said this on a previous post. At one point, we had Biggie, Pac, Nas, Jay, Lost Boyz, Canibus, Snoop, Dre, and a bunch of others all putting music out at the same time. If you can be mentioned as a great, when theres 10 arguable other greats out there, then kudos, but if your a decent rapper, and theres like 2-3 great rappers out right now, then whats there to brag about. There were tons of great players when Jordan, Magic and Bird were playing. Today, we just talk about Kobe and Lebron like no one else matters. In todays game, being called great is really no big deal if The Source is giving 4.5 mics to everybody. i got all of Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, Enter The 36 Chambers, The Chronic, Ready to Die, Doggystyle and It Was Written all memorized word for word. Lyric for lyric. Hook for Hook. i cant spit complete lyrics to just one Wayne song. The fact that i’m even giving attention to this post is beneath me, but i cant let the real greats get disrespected by putting this fools name in the runnings.

  37. nigeriaboy Says:

weezy might not be a legend but he has certainly did enough to be mention alongside pac, biggie and jay, cause when your favorite rappers are no where to be found weezy keep droping mixtapes upon mixtapes,

  38. ejm205 Says:

NO he aint even the best ever in the South. South legends consist of Scarface, UGK, 8Ball & MJG, etc. Hell TIP is more legendary than Wayne is.

And no Im not hating I been bumpin wayne since Block Is Hot and to tell u the truth he peaked with Dedication 2 and “something happen” and hes been goin down hill lyrically ever since.

Wayne is just whats hot right now like Nelly 2000-2003 and Bow Wow ?-2002 Its just a phase will see where hes at in 10 years but dont ever mention him being on Jiggas level thats just fuckin dumb.

  39. wallySMALLZ
    wallySMALLZ Says:

    woooo tell em #34

and pls dont compare KOBE to weezy #26, no fuckin way is that analogy true.

  40. Big I Says:

If this was basketball Lil Wayne would be Dennis Rodman a great player no where near the best though, but more appealing for being different from anyone else before him.

  41. WHITE BREAD TASTE GOOD WITH WHITE MEAT........CHICAGO Says:

Why in the hell are they putting him up there at the greatest. I mean to me it not about how much classic album you put out. I mean it just that lil wayne hasn’t done enough become the greatest. I mean i would say nas or snoop or whoever before lil wayne. And just because he following in the same foot step as 2pac biggie and jay-z doesn’t mean he should be put up there a the greatst. Because if that the case then you might as well put kanye up there cuz he followed in jay-z foot step and you might as well put 50 up there as well cuz he followed 2pac foot step. And both 50 and kanye album were classic. But to put lil wayne up there who never had a classic album even tho it doesn’t mean shit. I mean they should seriously think about this before they put him as the greatest. I mean in my opinion every rapper alway put themselve as the greatest rapper. But for lil wayne he not the greatest even tho he said it. I think he succesfully building his career up and he been shining for the pass 2 year that all. But that doesn’t mean he the greatest ain’t know way in hell he the greatest i wouldn’t even take him serious. And don’t get me wrong he put alot of his heart in his last 2 album to the point where he became successfull. But he ain’t never shed know blood like 2pac and biggie to the point where he the greatest of all time. I mean jay-z in’t never shed know blood and he ain’t got to but he’s proven hisself many time more then lil wayne has. And if they want to put lil wayne as the greatest which will never happen but if it do he gonna have to prove hisself alot more and more until there know more of him.

  42. odin Says:

wayne is pretty much standing on the perfect line of pop superstardom and hip hop greatness. the Carter III definitely shows that. in my opinion, hes the only mainstream rapper keeping hip hop relevant.

hate him or love him, at least he makes ya’ll feel somethin. I can’t say that about most rappers these days,

If Wayne isn’t holding our crown then who should?
50 cent? nelly? soulja boy? pitbull? rick ross? the game?

or should we give the crown to those really good lyricists who aren’t very popular? talib? common? jadakiss? budden? nas?

  43. shine95 Says:

ain’t even tryin to hate on wayne like that but it’s the truth. The industry and commercial fans are pumping him like he’s the next cat. He gotta have a number of classic with close to classic albums to be at that spot. The fuck happened to Nas? oh yall forgot about Eminem. If weezy deserves that spot, then you should give it to 50 Cent already or Game in my opinion. Watch people bug of me like Game?, Nah listened to dude album in entirety. fuck the hot singles bullshit give me a packaged album. The commercial fans along with the soulja boy and bow wow fan base is pumpin him like that. but they all grew up. I givem on the mixtapes he doing his thing along with papoose. I givem the best mixtape album mc award. but that’s it for now.

  44. Mic Sorc Says:

I’ll tell you how i know Wayne is not a great or legend. I dont think we ever had to argue the fact that Nas, Biggie, Jay and Pac are legends. We never questioned it. It was undeniable. Each of them had respectable beefs that they held down and never ever backed down from. Each of them put out numerous classic albums. Each of them have numerous memorable interviews. And each of them has had a style that has been duplicated over and over, but never mastered. I’m kinda pissed that Black Thought from the Roots is never mentioned in these convos, but i understand that the hiphop community can be fickle at times. Just cause lil wayne and cash money completely bit No Limits steez and helped put New Orleans on the map, that doesnt make him a great. its easy to get your raps recognized in a city not vastly known for hiphop. How do you think Nelly blew up so fast. I can talk about this all day, wayne is a good rapper. but he’s not a classic, legendary, memorable, revolutionary MC. far from it. I’d put Kweli, Mos Def and Common on the list way before Lil Wayne. But hey, Scottie Pippen kisses dudes and he’s still great, so kiss away, Lil Weezy

  45. truth Says:

cosign 38 …only thers nothin great about lil wayne..his average… he might be weird and diffeernt meaning his probably the most watched rapper cuz of his weirdness…being the weirdest raperst and the most unique doesnt make you the best rapper alive, it doesnt even make you a good rapper at all and please dont insult hiphop by calling him a legend..then ur just degrading the genre and disrespectin the legends.

  46. Maz Says:

Jay 2pac Biggie Eminem Nas Rakim to name a few…oh yeah Wayne shouldn’t be on any list.

  47. Big I Says:

Ur right truth I was being nice to all the wayne fans out there I ment good player, people are only interested in Wayne because he does crazy shit nd not so much for his skill. But people that wanna know where Cam’ron hes inside Lil Wayne in the fact that you here line after line with no point to all the rhyming its like a lil kid writing a story with no point at the end. While it can be comical at times doesnt mean its good.

  48. BFRMBK Says:

Ya’ll mutherf**ka need to stop with this lil wayne shit. He good for his time and generation. But that nigga will neva be a Jigga, Biggie, or a damn Pac so stop fooling yourself!! Biggie’s 2 albums will shit on any Wayne album or any of those damn daily mixtapes that nigga got. Ya’ll playin yourselves with that dumb ass shit. EAST NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!!

  49. ALI Says:

    lol lil wayns its

    pac nas big jay

  50. Pounce Says:

#37 who is he then? Cash Money was hot back in the day right after no limit fell off. Similar to Lakers being Hot before falling off and coming back this year. He has some platinum & gold albums in his collection, some classic mixtapes, a few timeless songs and plenty of quotable lines and famous hooks. I was going to say Wade originally but he aint been in the game that long.

& #32 im not using his age as an excuse im just questioning niggas who say he aint put out a classic album. Hes coming into his prime right now. Since Dedication 2/Drought 3 he’s taken it to a diffrnt lvl.

  51. WTF? Says:

If this was basketball Lil Wayne would be Dennis Rodman a great player no where near the best though, but more appealing for being different from anyone else before him.

    ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨

Dennis Rodman is one of the best defensive player of all time. The best rebounder in NBA history. Lil Wayne in music isn’t on Dennis Rodmans level as a basketball player.

  52. truth Says:

#40 to answer ur question jayz still has the crown…and when he leaves …saigon’s gonna hold it down for hiphop…after 1 or 2 album and a couple mills he’ll easily go down as a respectful legend in terms of hiphop material….and since when do you become the best rapper alive just cuz pppl dnt have nuthin else to listen to… in basketball for example..being the leagues mvp for 1 year doesnt mean u should be mentioned along with legends like jordan..magic etc…it takes consitent respectfull quality efforts for the love of what you do to be a legend in it..and again consistent efforts dont always mean its quality effort..u can consistently put out bullshit material it doenst make u a legend

  53. wallySMALLZ
    wallySMALLZ Says:

all im sayin is dont compare wayne and cash money to the lakers and kobe…(ya i know im biased)
    but

    lakers got 2nd most championships
    hall of famers
the badddddest player in the league since 23

    there is no comparison

    WE NEED A BOARD.

I co-sign that. Just because he jumps on like 10-15 singles and he released about 5-6 official mixtapes during the course of 2 years, that makes him viable to be considered or even thought about as the best in the business.

    gimme a break..this is blasphemy..

he put together a solid album, but he aint tha best… point blank.

  57. cheguevara Says:

get the fuck outta here ! how the fuck you compare pac and biggie whit wayne …can belive how overrated this dude is.

  58. jaynyc4life Says:

#34 statement pretty much says it all and sums it up weezy still has a lil while to go its way to early for him to be considered he a lil ahead of himself and jay-z is still here he didnt leave yet and most likely will come with another album wayne still got a lil more to prove against some of the other artist in the game even against lyrical hard hitters such as fab jada eminem nas and more even 50 and kanye i dont think kanye and definitely not 50 gonna let him go and call himself the best they gonna try to beat u and top u. with jay-z every other rapper know he the best and would say it but not lil wayne they aint gonna give him that credit yet he is hot but still not there yet

  59. JCharades Says:

As far as charisma is concerned i would believe wayne could go down in history if anything because of what he’s done in the past 2 years but honestly a legend?…All the legends we have not contributed something more to the game than their music to the game and have been loved for that alone…What didnt Wayne do…those who have his mixtapes consider his statue but he has yet to make a classic album IMO…singles or certain songs don’t apply if your whole album has flaws. He has not been a revolutionary in the game to change its concept aside from adding on the drinking, drugs, sex, and wasting money bit…

I can admit he’s drops some songs that set him apart from other artist but look who his competition is in the game…There are way more lyrical artist who could take him out if they had the advantage he does but sadly thats his only reason of relevance. Its him not beefing publicly with anyone that keeps him in a lane of still dropping music…This new younger generation/digital age of hip-hop is whats killing the genre if any when the kids forgot their history of the music, focus on the pursuit of profit/gimmick, and are afraid to be themselves…wayne hasnt changed the game in any way from that therefore a legend he shall not be…

I think hip-hop should have a board of trustees or something because for the most part the music is fair at best depending on who you’re listening to but the acceptance rate is at dangerously high levels because these fads take a away from the point of the music…hopefully things will change for the better…

r u guyz retarted…lil wayne better then 2pac and b.i.g…he hasnt had even 1 classic album and has never sold over a million…and his lyrics and flow is the corniest ive ever heard…really think about this 4 a second…u guyz r comparing him 2 jay-z who had multiple successful albums,2pac also….i mean if your sayin lil wayne is the goat..shouldnt 50 be by far the best then…dont think so…u guys aint makin sense like lil waynes lyrics..hes the worst rapper alive..how do u listen 2 biggies lyrics and then listen 2 lil waynes lyrics and say that there on the same level…c’mon dogg..he aint even better then young jeezy and i aint even a fan of him

  67. the fox and the sound Says:

wayne is kinda like lebron he hasn’t done enough to be up there yet but by the time he’s finished that spot should be his

  68. Blacklaw Says:

I’ve always been thinking that tupac ain’t even that good. He might have sold more albums than anyone but he def never was the most lyrical or anything like that. I’m sorry to say this but his assasination makes him what he is.

hes a legend in of discussion

  70. .... Says:

seriously all this talk about lil wayne being great where does that put Eminem. Eminem has 2 classic albums, Marshall mathers LP and Eminem Show, and two good albums, Encore and Slim Shady LP,,, and sold more than anybody else out there. This talk about being rappers being great is pissing me off. Em really needs 2 come back out to redeem himself.

  71. A-TOWN Says:

First off… I respect everybody’s opinion. But let’s be real. Nobody would be talkin’ bout Wayne if he wasn’t contributing somethin’ to the game. We wouldn’t even be discussin’ his status as a legend if he wasn’t capable of being one. It’s obvious that he doin his thang (for the time being) and will be talked about for a while. So my question to everyone is what does it take for this dude to be considered a “legend”?

  72. T2 Says:

Co Sign 38 he isnt even the best in the south so he has no chance of been better than Hov, Pac, Big and nas. He is hot at the moment were hip hop isnt at its peak like it was in the 90s when those guys ruled.

Wayne is dope but he is not in the same league as those he hasnt got enough classic or the catalouge to match those most of the songs hes been on aint even his because he has featured guest on damn near every track rather than them been his own tracks.

  73. SAM FROM THE BAY
    SAM FROM THE BAY Says:

    COSIGN #36 MAN!!!!

I hate dennys and waffle house, but 3-4am on the way back from the club, thats all i have to choose from. Lil Wayne is the Waffle House of hiphop. He’s everywhere, you go to him when your musically hungry, but deep down inside, you wish you had something better and healthier for you musical appetite.

hahaha that is a good analogy right there! I feel Wayne on some songs, but to be mention with the GOAT he really got a ways to go. I just think he was feeling himself a little too much on the track cause he was on it with Jay. Even Jay said, “He needa put some hits under his belt” 5 Years from now, We Will See.

  74. KB Says:

To be memtioned in the same breath as Big, Pac & Jay, you have to have 2 CLASSIC ALBUMS!!! Pac has 2, Big has 2, Jay has 2, Nas has 2! Wayne is a beast on Mixtapes but NONE & I REPEAT, NONE OF HIS ALBUMS ARE ON THE LEVEL OF BIG, PAC, NAS OR JAY’S CLASSICS!!!

  75. bigsteve1 Says:

Come on now….yall are just suckin his dick now. popular does not equal good. lil wayne is definitely not an all-time great. he doesnt have a classic album, and i doubt he ever will.

  76. TERROR Says:

as long as u dickryders keep lyin 2 him n tellin him hes the best hes gonna keep believin it. he wasnt sayin that until the dick rydin came along.

2 ALL LIL WAYNE FANS YA BOY WILL NEVER BE A LEGEND, WILL NEVER MAKE A CLASSIC. NOBODYS GONNA QUOTE HIS SHIT 5 0R 10 YRS LATER. SO JUST DEAL WITH IT. THIS KID SAID HE CREATED THE MIX TAPE SHIT. SO U KNOW HES LYIN AND COCKY. SOON AS HE SOBER UP THEN HE’LL REAIZE DEEP DOWN HE SUX!!!! U KIDS SAYIN HE HOT CUZ U THINK HE GOT SWAG. U CANT POSSIBLY SAY HIS LYRICS ARE GOOD. CAM’S NURSEY RHYMES ARE BETTER THAN WAYNE’S CRACK HEAD LINES. AND 2 THE BLOGGER I KNOW U LUV LIL WAYNE CUZ U POSTED SO MANY BLOGS ABOUT THIS GUY IN THE PAST FEW DAYS BUT HE WONT BE A LEGEND. ANYBODY THAT AGREES WITH THIS MIGHT AS WELL STOP REPLYIN 2 THESE BLOGS CUZ THEN WE’LL BE SAYIN THIS OVER N OVER. WAYNE U SUCK HOMIE. JAD MURDERED YA MILLI SHIT. AND THEN U HAD THE NERVE 2 SAY EMINEM SCARED 2 GET ON A TRACK WITH U. U CANT BES SERIOUS CUZ U’LL NEVER BE A GOOD LYRICIST.

  77. Pounce Says:

I stay in LA so I know im bias to the Lakers but i aint sayin cash money is the Lakers lol. If anybody is the Lakers of music its fuckin Universal lol. Im saying Wayne is Kobe, he actually says it in the Hov diss over show me what you got beat.

  78. Dwaine Says:

only nas can be put in the same sentence as them

  79. KB Says:

SHIT, NONE OF HIS ALBUMS ARE EVEN ON KANYE’S LEVEL AS FAR AS ALBUMS GO! SO HOW CAN HE BE MENTIONED WITH JAY, BIG OR PAC!

  80. Mo Says:

lil Stayne is the most overrated rapper alive..this guy doesn’t even have a classic line…that anyone in any hip hop site can recite and be meaningful….when has bubble gum rap become substantial? Please can someone tell me?

Jay-Z, Biggie, 2pac, Nas…Rakim had something unique about them..lyrically. They depicted where they came from or better yet painted pictures…when the rhymed..they were all humble ashell..off da mic…on the mic of course they are going to compete but off da mic…they were or are down to earth people this widget looking like nigga off damics gets worst…dissing mix tapes Dj’s…dissing rappers…dissing his family ..what is wrong with this idiot?…First of all dog u ain’t nice at all…JR writer will merk you and I don’t even like JR like that..but his voice is better..and he rhyme better than ur stupid ass…

When has it become cool to claim spots..or king without any credentials…that’s like I go to the streets right now and say forget obama and hilary..and McCain vote for me…I have no political background..same as Wayne he has no album that can signify how good he is..fuck that mix tapes don’t count..Jay_Z sounds more street in mixtapes..than when he rhyme on an album so does fab…so mixtapes are mixtapes..make a good hip hop album then we talk.

  81. rippzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Says:

hurt me to hear that bullshit nas had big on his nutz and he ethered hov

  82. truth Says:

#67 blackhaw “I’ve always been thinking that tupac ain’t even that good. He might have sold more albums than anyone but he def never was the most lyrical or anything like that. I’m sorry to say this but his assasination makes him what he is.”

just what’s ur definition of lyrical….punchlines and metaphors?

pac even said it himself .he was tryin to send a message that anyone could understand trhough his music.. cuz his lyrics were deep and direct..not cuz he lacked talent to do metaphors but cuz thats the style he chose to go with..u can say a bunch of methaphors and punchlines but then u aint really sayin shit and noone understands wut u sayin…its like talkin in vain and wastin ur breath…pac didnt need no punchlines he still had the illest rhymes ever and was already crowned by most as the best rapper alive he didnt need to say it…. now thats a legend

  83. B! Says:

Hell Naw..wtf..youngns gotta luv em yo..aint no legendry nuffin..ya”ll use that word 2 loosely nowadays…Bob Marley Jay-Z Biggie Nas Dr. Dre Rakim KRS ONE Kool Moe Dee.Kool G Rap..those are jus a few real legends..wayne aint spit no legendry shyt yet man..wtf ya”ll on?? ya”ll wanna give him legendary staus off whut whut a Bunch of freestyle mixtapes and mediocre albums at best?? wowww cant believe u posted this BS starr…Go Obama!

  84. Toonerville Says:

Everyone knows the Top 5 Dead Or Alive is…

    1. Rakim
    2. Tupac
    3. Biggie
    4. Jigga
    5. Nasir

Weezy is not even Top 20… The new generation of Hip Hop fans born post ‘81 are disgusting.

  85. willz Says:

People, dont understand wayne has released enough classic material in a range of mixtapes to equal the biggie catalogue. However in this new hip hop climate, albums are songs and songs are verses.Wayne doesnt have the standout, who shot ya or dead presidents.but he does have pretty much any big single or song released in the last year and a half that he has not destroyed or completely reworked.he may not have reasonable doubt but compare waynes mixtape catalogue in 10 years to biggies 2 classic albums and he has definitely got to be remembered.

  86. WTF? Says:

This nigga’s taking Jay’s line too literally. Jay’s just telling Weezy to TRY and go further and harder than he did as his “young heir” from WEEZY proclaiming himself the best rapper alive. He’s not saying HE CAN BE MENTIONED WITH HIMSELF, PAC, BIG, THE MARLEY’S AND THE MARCUSES. Wake up critics and read between the lines which is how Hov flows. He’s telling him he can do it, but not that he has or that it can be done by WEEZY.

  87. ATI Says:

If Weezy has never been in the upper echelant of emcees at any point in his career, it’s pretty damn obvious that he isn’t anywhere near being the top anything of all time, much less being considered a top 4 emcee ever

I guess that’s what two pretty good albums can buy you these days

  88. wreck415 Says:

#36 GOT IT RIGHT OUT OF ALL THESE COMMENTS LOL I LIKED THE CARTER 1 DA BEST….NAS GOT CLASSICS,JAY GOT 1 CLASSIC,BIG GOT ONE CLASSIC,PAC GOT CLASSICS,50 GOT 1 CLASSIC,EMINEM GOT CLASSICS,LIL WAYNE GOT NO CLASSICS…..

  89. Southern Queen Dee Says:

I like Wayne, but he’s got a ways to go before he can mentioned with Pac, Biggie, and Jay. I mean, nobody was calling Pac and Big legends before they died and it wasn’t until they died that niggas started noticing the lyrical beast that a Shawn Carter was. So, he could be there one day, but that day damn sure ain’t today. SORRY DWAYNE!

  90. L''z Says:

Lil Wayne got no classics, jus mixtape shit and no hit records that stand out either..There’s maad artist that put out classic mixtape shit like(Fab, Cass, Jada n Styles etc..) but there names dont get mentioned..Why Wayne? Jus cuz a nigga put out maaad material dont mean he should be in the same category as Jay..Nas..Big..Pac..Big L..shit even Em in there prime..They all either made classis albums or atleast some hit records u could STILL get it poppin to in the clubs..Whats gonna be a classic Wayne track in the future, Lollipop, Bling Bling? Lol Come on fam..Tha nigga good, but the syrup really gettin to him for even sayin that line..

  91. wreck415 Says:

    MY BAD I FORGOT…DRE GOT CLASSICS,SNOOP GOT 1 CLASSIC

  92. god complex Says:

this is blasphemy. jay-z fucked it all up. when pac was alive he was a nobody, then when the game got weak he capitalized on its weakness.. and i dont blame him for gettin $$$.. but damn, i never thought i’d see the day when LIL fuckin WAYNE (who i had in the same lyrical category with master P) gettin mentioned wit Pac??? WTF..

  93. what makes you a legend? Says:

1…in my opinion a legend is someone who has a love for the what they do first all. they live for it, they have a real passion for it..it’s their life.

2.. they love it so much that they’ve studied the history of it, mastered everything about it and made it their own

3..the fundamentals of their proffesion becomes a natural thing to them they dont even have to try anymore.

4.. they know their proffesion so well…that they can alter it…take it apart and use the same pieces to create somethin else that looks different..they can take it apart when they want cause they can put back together again..only they csn do it..everyone else doesnt know the profesion..evry1else is scared to take it apart cause they won’t know how to put it back together to what it originally was.

    5. by using the origins and knowin it so well they eventualy naturally just created somethin else..somethin that others can follow.

after all i said only names that come to mind are ppl like : michael jordan…michael jackson…tupac…biggie..jayz..naz …eminem.. u get my drift? waynes no where near

  95. PERPLEX Says:

is joe budden a legend cuz his mixtapes are just as good as Lil Wayne’s

  96. Tevez Says:

I am from a different era, i bump weezy but he isnt in the same league as the aforementioned greats, the mr. carter track is a perfect example, just when you think weezy is spittin nice, jay-z takes it to a whole different level

  97. .... Says:

All I hear is, I’m best at this an I’m best at that,
but I don’t hear my name NOWHERE brought up in rap
and I don’t usually trip or dare get caught up in that
but when they say one of the best, im nowhere thought of as that
Not even the same league as Jay-Z
Nas, Pac, Biggie or maybe they’ll name me
Somewhere down at the bottom right after AZ
or say “he ripped that Biggie verse or that Jay-Z
Yo, his verses were crazy on that Renegade beat
but I ain’t never bought no whole CD of Shady
And I all I hear is pop tunes come on the rad-i-o
And they play ‘em 20 times in a row daily”
And that very well may be the same reason they don’t say me
when they speak on hip-hop legends which IS amazed me
Cause I thought the formula was to hit mainstream
    and make it big-big-big-big-b-baby

  98. Tanya Says:

Shut up Weezy. You are NOT in Jay-Z, Biggie or Pac. Don’t go there. SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!! U are okay. Just okay.

  99. unknown Says:

lil waynes good but far from a legend. some of the shit he says dont even make sense “hector camacho man randy savage” come on get the fuck outta here. and i think jay 1 of the best 5 to ever do it but not no 1 he got murdered by pac, murdered by nas and eminem killed him on his own shit

  100. Gardena, Ca. Says:

WHOEVER WROTE THIS IS THE BIGGEST LIL WAYNE STAN EVER!!! LOL
HE’S TALKIN ABOUT HIM LIKE HE REALLY DONE SOMTHING

U CANT BE A LEGEND OFF HOT MIXTAPES AND A OK CD

  101. hopsbeer Says:

the fact that we talk about him everyday, and posts on here get him a 100 comments

    yeah he is a legend

  102. westbankb Says:

Listen, to all you old heads that say he wont be mentioned with the likes of Biggie Pac and Jay are in denial. 10 years from now to the younger generation who love him he will be the best in their eyes. I remember when Rakim was the best to ever do back when i was growing up now days niggaz dont really mention him, along with KRS One and others, everybody has a time and only time will tell, because the lovers of jay pac and big will die out then the youngsters will be here running your internet hip hop sites talking about all the success and history wayne has put in the hip hop game.

  103. westbankb Says:

Also how could you even say a album if a classic when it hasnt even hit the streets yet. It takes time for a album to reach classic status. When pac’s all eyes on me came out it wasnt considered a classic, but in todays hip hop world it is. when biggies ready to die came out we didnt consider that a classic. but in todays hip hop world it is, thus reasonable doubt album etc. Basically U niggaz just hate on anyone thats making money and getting a lot of publicity your favorite artist isnt getting. Wayne is a truly talented brotha that will in time become a legend in this game. He only 25 if that. HOLLA and keep it real with yourself.

  104. manlisten
    manlisten Says:

no doubt lil wayne is a beast im not a big fan and there is no denying that he is big time but to even think he is on the same level as big and pac is k-z thas like sayin kobe bryant is the new michael jordan yea he is the best out at the time but that’s the only similarity when it comes down to lookin at the impact big and pac had on the game compared to lil wayne it just not the same level like i said wit the jordan ,bryant thing ya digg

  105. cfgsha Says:

Damnnnnnnnnnnnnn look how many comments dis nigga gets it happens all da time u guys love weezy stop denyin it lol

  106. Clipz.
    Clipz. Says:

Oh hell naw… The only names this lame should be mentioned with are niggas like Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Fab, Etc. Dude isnt even close to legendary status.

The difference between Wayne and niggas like Pac, Jay and Biggie is that Wayne lables HIMSELF the best rapper alive and his stans who too shook to have their own opinion jump on his sack until tha shit rots off, the real legends just kept humble and made hits, and still had their fan base clinging without all tha gimmicks…oh yeah, and the fact that he doesnt have a lyrical bone in his body LOL

And @ Pounce, how many times you gon comment on this LOL, gargle his balls some more. “Waynes Kobe”…So you’re saying Wayne is the best in the game? Jeeeeez… You have a lot to learn -smh.

Co-sign #36 LOL thats so true.

  107. Ms. Pam Says:

People love to count Nas out! Due to the fact that he is hated(for no valid reason)demonstrates how SUPERIOR he is to the rest of those artist that everyone else seem to love! Nas is the most crucified artist in hip-hop, but no one can deny that he is the most poetic and if not the greatest, one of the greatest story writers/tellers in hip-hop history.
On a side note the media/internet is very creative in brainwashing people to beleive, what is clearly not true- such as Lil Wayne being a legend! Nas damn sure is a legend….. if Lil Wayne is!!!

  108. hahaa Says:

    WEEZY F!

yall goin kill yaselves with all this hatin lololol

  109. yup Says:

    He is a legend. C3.

  110. NYChomie Says:

105 comments in less than half of a day?? LEGEND.

  111. Titi Says:

First off… I respect everybody’s opinion. But let’s be real. Nobody would be talkin’ bout Wayne if he wasn’t contributing somethin’ to the game. We wouldn’t even be discussin’ his status as a legend if he wasn’t capable of being one. It’s obvious that he doin his thang (for the time being) and will be talked about for a while. So my question to everyone is what does it take for this dude to be considered a “legend”?

    Legend

    1. Have the overall skill: Listen to his rhymes and tell me Wayne has the same talent to be put into the same sentance as Big, ay, Rakim or Pac
    2. Put out classic work: Classic work includes fire beats, which Wayne has, but he doesn’t take advantage of them.

  112. AYO!! Says:

@ 36, Wayne is IHOP of Hip Hop. You got it wrong. Funny comparison tho

Wayne is a legend or he will be eventually. See how much yall love talking about him?? Legend treatment haha

  113. Compaq Says:

The fact that you got over a 100 people debating if he’s a legend means one thing: He’s up for the running. Stay tuned Hip Hop, wayne is something special.

  114. Clipz.
    Clipz. Says:

What tha fuck does comments on a blog have to do with legendary status?

You niggas are delusional i swear LOL

Its about NOTHING but album sales so we’ll see. I definitly aint gonna go out and buy it, damn i prolly wont even end up downloading it so fall back with that shit.

  115. bmore Says:

lil wayne is not that hot anybody who says they can relate to the shit he spits is also in waynes world

  116. bkili Says:

Isn’t that a part of hip-hop? Isn’t he supposed to talk and act like he’s the best? If he doesn’t think it an say it who will? I hope that dude continues making music but, gets off the drugs.

  117. PERPLEX Says:

im only debating cause i dont why people feel this guy so much

he’s entertaining and have charisma..but jesus he’s not that good

its like that dude from american pie..who got all these rumors about him..he just got bigger in the school for no reason

did some bitch just brainwash everybody…lil wayne is a legend..but…just cause of popularity not by skill

Big L, Big Pun and Nas are 20 times better then this dude

  118. Cheech. Says:

TITI I AGREE WITH YOU ON THAT LAST PART BUT THE ONLY REASON PEOPLE ARE DISCUSSING IF HES A LEGEND IS BECAUSE HE PUT HIM SELF IN THAT CATEGORY WITH THAT “And next time you mention Pac, Biggie, or Jay-Z don’t forget about me” LINE AND SOME GUY MADE A POST ABOUT IT……………..THATS WHY I GOTTA CO SIGN CLIPZ WHEN HE SAYING WAYNE LABLES HIM SELF AND HIS DICK RIDERS JUST GO ALONG FOR THE RIDE………..HE TALKS THE TALK BUT HE CANT WALK THE WALK AND BY THAT I MEAN GE GOT FLOW BUT HIS LYRICAL GAME IS ALMOST AS WEAK AS SOMEONE LIKE SHAWTY LO OR SOULJA BOI…………WAYNE JUST MAKES UP RANDOM SHIT AND RHYMES IT WITH RANDOM SHIT AND HIS FANS ARE JUST AS DUMB FOR NOT REALIZING HOW WEAK THIS NIGGA IS

  119. Pounce Says:

I wanted to co-sign #90 until they said hes no where near legend status lol. As much good material as he puts out and the fact that the nigga got a booth on his tour buss shows his love for music. All in all good definitions though for a legend, maybe missing a few things.

I think a legend has the power of making people listen to his crew even if they are not as talented. Like the outlawz, lil cease, memph bleek, D-12. They were all cool, but you gave them more of your time and attention because Pac, Biggie, Hov and Em co-signed them. Once wayne get niggas to listen to T-Streets and Mack Maine ect then I think he can make another step into winning this will smith argument… (i am legend)

Plus none of the popular legends made I am legend type comments. I say its the ego in hip hop artist now adays. But big, pac and them niggas made comments like being the best or hardest but never said compare me to Rakim, and the greats before them. Not that I can remember anyway.

  120. shine95 Says:

cfgsha you a little kid, weezy gotta get his grown man on first. grow with them albums weezy. if you talk about history, you might look back at this as Lil wayne being one of the most overrated rappers in the game along with other overrated as motherfuckers. cmon man
if wayne’s music is the new criteria for being the best, then this hip hop shit is murdered. R.I.P. by the punk ass industry. they sold that whole shit out then.

  123. shine95 Says:

Compaq, the fact that you got over a 100 people debating if he’s a legend means one thing:yeah your right he’s up for the running but that’s because he’s a promoted artist with leverage in the game(cash money status proven) with the industry pumpin him along with commercial fans saying he’s the best. Commercial fans are now influencing this hip hop shit now(The Bow Wow, Soulja Boy, Omarion generation) but this what the industry produced out there and got everybody believing this is the new blueprint for being the best now or up and coming. I think Game had a better growth than this guy and he dropped in 2005(The Documentary). my opinion

  124. ross Says:

i hope the carter 3 flops hard and shuts him up. seriously its getting ridiculous. wayne has never been and will never be even a good rapper let alone someone on biggies level. this has to stop. why is it that if you call urself the greatest rapper enough people start believing you.

Is he a legend?….Get back to me in 5-10 years…

  137. WHITE BREAD TASTE GOOD WITH WHITE MEAT........CHICAGO Says:

#116 Terror…not trying to disrespect you or anything but to me tupac and biggie were great rappers but not the greatest. I know people are gonna get on me for saying that bu ya’ll knw the only reason why ya’ll say they the best is cuz they dead. Tupac and biggie were the hottest rappers at that time as is lil wayne today. If lil wayne died today, he would be exactly like biggie and tupac because they died at their prime; lil wayne is at his prime.

Its also not fair to call them the greatest because they werent here long enough to for us to watch their careers grow. Someone like Jay-z on the other hand has been in the game long enough for us to analyze his career survive the ever changing hip hop. We dont know how well biggie and tupac wouldve adapted during the down south movement cuz while ATL was running things, the east coast and west coast were nowhere to be found. Look t Eminem, when he first came out, everyone was ranking as one of the top rappers. I bet if i asked you to name 5 hot rappers right now Eminem wouldnt even come to mind and he’s most definitely one of the rawest lyricist ever. Who knows if that wouldve been the case with biggie and tupac. Yea they were hot in the mid 90s but what about now. Hip hop/rap changes but you gotta b able to change with it.

Then you mentioned lil wayne. I understand that ppl are hesitant to give lil wayne credit for what he does but honestly ya’ll gotta give credit where credit is due. This dude is literally the coldest lyricist out rite now hands down. I dont think its fair to compare lil wayne to biggie cuz thats just like comparing ludacris to tupac, theres really no parallel between them.

And for the record, my personal pick for the greatest rappers rite now are jay-z and snoop.

  138. yapz Says:

all you cock suckers talkin about “wayne is a legend because he gets talked about a lot” are idiots. paris hilton gets talked about all the time so what the fuck does that make her? you guys really dont listen to music because if you do then lil wayne would not be something you would consider great. this nigga is average at best. for every hot verse he has there are 10 that suck ass. and the reason there are so many comments on this topic is because its fucking retarded for him to even be mentioned with these guys.

  166. MardiGraz718 Says:

Yes Weezy is fucking baby! He’s a big man to admit that and come out like that! Hottest rapper out of the closet! This nigga in no way represents what Big, Pac, Nas & Jay. 170. SOME HONEST SHIT THO! Says:

yall making hiphop look real desperate right now.ofcourse wayne is going to be looked at as a legend LOOK AT HIS COMPETITION ..the real emcee’s that ARE competition for him aren’t getting enough exsposure like sai, lupe, loso, jada, joe budden, styles p, malice and pusha T ,them dudes are way more LYRICAL than wayne clipse may be coke rap all day but let dem niggas switch up they topics and it’s over..

It actually is a really ignorant and mentally unstable comment,
to even let those words come out in this sites post just because he got a big following don’t mean he’s a great mc
MAN WAYNE ISN’T EVEN A GODDAMN M FUCKING C! that niggas is nothing more than a popular rapper in this gay ass ring tone rapper era every LEGEND and i mean REAL LEGEND mentioned in this damn post can be called a mc and their music can be called hiphop they embodied and defined hiphop while adding something to it and made hiphop their own and created their own timeline in which other people followed their sound..

it’s great to have popular rappers who just might sale well but the truth is those legends rakim, jigga, krs, pac, nas, scarface, common biggie, bdk, ect.. their slots in the discussion is based on the MUSIC ..THE MOTHER FUCKING MUSIC the battles and money and fame and sold out arenas come AFTER the MUSIC!!!

TELL ME when you decide to mention wayne with these legends tell me do he have songs like this this

rakim-Paid in Full,, “Microphone Fiend,Follow The Leader, “Don’t Sweat the Technique” ,Casualties Of War” ,Mahogany

    jigga- ,d’evils,u must love me,It’s Like That,There’s Been a Murder,Squeeze 1st/dynasty intro,heart of the city,meet the parents,allure, the prelude,american dreaming

krs-South Bronx” ,Jack Of Spades,You Must Learn,Sound Of Da Police”,The Bridge Is Over”

    nas-,”It Ain’t Hard to Tell,The World Is Yours”,N.Y. State of Mind”,,Nas Is Like”,One Mic”,”If I Ruled the World”,Stillmatic (Intro,”Rewind”,black girl lost”,

    scarface-Hand of the Dead Body, Seen a Man Die,Jesse James,”Smile”,Fuck Faces,On My Block”,No Tears”,”Never

    common-Used to Love H.E.R.”,Ressurection”,The 6th Sense”,The Light,”The People” yall get what i’m saying

these three do i need to even explain

    biggie-
    big daddy kane-
    and
    pac-

point is where are waynes songs at. that are on the level of that! ?????????
stop judeging on what’s popular what about the mother fucking music partna what about the music the lyrics the feeling the cleverness the appeal the trends and so on music related added with all that out side shit AFTERWARDS that’s why them boyz are legends not cause of beefs, beats or money or for having a lot of stans but because of the MUSIC

they are all mc’s who create hiphop music when wayne does so then get at me and jay should get his ass beat for even saying that shit in dat damn song!!!

    ..anyway..

yall niggas will see what i’m talking about whenever musis gets off this feminine shit & goes back to being about the MUSIC.. just WATCH!

  171. syl Says:

lol funny shit……..how ucan be mentionned as a legend without no classic albums& not classic song..cmom

Nas Got y State Of MindJa-z got Dead President
    Pac Got.lol Too Many
and Wayne What it got ?

  172. hiphop legend analysis Says:

lil wayne will defitnitely go down in the history books..

his definitely an icon no doubt…he’ll definiteley be historical, i think his a lil confused tho cuz he thinks being an iconic historical figure in hihop makes u a legend

he’ll be mentioned alongside vanilla ice, mc hammer and a bunch of other historical rap ridicules far from legends

i mean even the worst rappers ever get alot of attention so they go down in history for the wrong reasons and they attract the most attention thats exactly what weezels doing.

  173. hip hop legend analysis part 2 Says:

#93 said it best a legend is somethin totally different from wut an icon is, waynes an icon for sure simply cuz of his unique swag so he’ll always be remembered but i don’t think he knows wut a legend is. as far as the art form his not a legend….

its like wwe for example ..u go the undertaker his an icon cuz his weird n he’ll be remembered….then u got hulk hogan his a legend cuz he added somthin to the game and revolutionized it and set trends

  174. Juddric Says:

when he starts recording whole verses at a time with the same impact then maybe.
anyone can be a recording artist if they lay one line then come back half hour later when they’ve thought of a dope rhyme to go with it…

  175. Peter Casual Says:

    1. No Classic album

    2. No memorable rap quotes

    3. He’s not a trendsetter

    4. His interviews are wack because he really can’t articulate

Big, Pac, and Hov gave the rap game these elements and more

If anybody’s the next legend I’d think it be Kanye West

  176. LIL WAYNE Says:

    I AM LEGEND

  177. Numba Says:

When you talk about Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie… everybody agrees about their greatness.

When you talk about lil wayne, a lot of people (like… me !) argue that he sucks hard.

    He ain’t no legend.

  178. SAM FROM THE BAY
    SAM FROM THE BAY Says:

#175 LOCK IT UP!!!! You are on point with all those!

Especially your #2, he ain’t got memorable rap quotes that really motivate or inspire or anything like that.

His lyrics are just sing-a-long shit in the club. Yes, we know what parts of his songs are tight and when to yell out the words when we are in the clubs, but can we really quote him on some real shit when we are just talking randomly ?

  179. THe JKing Says:

yall no wayne betta den pac bigge or jay-z or any body yall dumb muthafuckas kno simple as dat pac bigge and jay were never legends when these niggas start being great? jay he aight but nutha ill play at my birthday party hes a bicth so is biggie he was just a bigger bicth and pac was just a litter bicth from da west fuk all dem niggas face it if dey was still alive dey wouldnt get kno spins dey proally b behind da board producing wayne HOT shit or still rapping but sucking dick for studio time cause dem pussies aint got no money; biggie was out robbing niggas dats why he got his as killed po’ ass muthafucks make me wana go and burn dey momma house down if those bicthes still alive. are they? tell me please or was she out robbing niggas to

  180. Etienne Says:

    Biggest BS ever.
Lil wayne nice let’s leave it at that.

  181. DonMega Says:

    Get Money for surfing!http://join.zenzuu.com/join/shawnhamilton

  182. neighborh00dc Says:

last i check biggie only officially release 2 albums and ya consider him one of the greatest of all time pac release alot more than that and i think he way better than big in my opinion. now wayne came out with a couple of album’s granted that most of them wasn’t classic but from beginning to now he has evolve to something greater than most rapper out now and some that have been in the game. he is a beast and he gives his all to a song now carter 2 and the carter 3 are both amazing albums i would say that both are and should be consider classic cause i bet most of ya can hear the whole album from front to back. now that is something that u can’t do any more with albums. you get 3 maybe 4 songs that ’s hot but when u get a whole album that ’s hot then u know that can be consider a classic. alot people hate on him but if they was in his shoes they most likely would do the same as him. hater only hate what they can’t be. if u don’t like his music then why waste your energy talkin shit. all u doing is wasting your time focusing on him so must mean u have him on your mind.

so i would say he is on his way to be a legend

another thing big l big pun ya consider them among the lengends but they only came out with really 1 album (well pun 2) and they consider by many a legend.

so now ask yourself what makes a legend?

  183. FlyKis Says:

180 Comments, Yup He Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Good.

  184. yapz Says:

^^^^ yeah he is doing something. that nigga is the paris hilton of the rap game. he is getting rich and aint contributing shit to this industry. the reason he is gettin so many comments is because out of 180 comments there are 120 that think this nigga sucks. we find it amazing that some asshole actually had the never to write a blog about wayne being a legend. that shit is just mind boogling to people that really love hiphop.

lets get real do any of the wayne songs they post on this site get that many comments. I dont think so. the people that are posting comments are just upset that someone would actually think this guy is a legend. thats the only reason there are 180 comments. how many comments do his songs get. not that many i imagin.

  185. Ezee-T Says:

What about Eminem? Never mind Lil Wayne how come Em aint mentioned?

  186. Dagameo31 Says:

There will always be debate on weather Lil Wayne is the next Jay or Biggie or even 2Pac… But my thing is that Wayne is just Wayne… What we can compare is the impact that this man has had on hip-hop… You have to be blind, def and an extreme hater to say that Lil Wayne has not changed the rap game… Wayne is only 25 people and has been in this rap game since he was 12, he must be doing something right… There will always be haters in the game but you have to give the man his props…

As for the Cater III, that will just be one for the history books. It being either the best SELLING Rap album of 2008 or the best Rap album, Lil Wayne will make history…

  187. yeah Says:

Now thats how u let the beat build BIIIITCH!

    co-sign 186

  188. R U SERIOUS???????????? LMAO!!!!!!! Says:

  189. pohp Says:

Man, please. This dude can ride a beat. But, this dude can’t stay on a subject. And say some whack ass shit. You have to put Bun B, Andre 3000, or Scarface way ahead of this dude.

  190. Dr. Supreme Says:

**spits out canberry juice from laughter all over the monitor after reading the title** A legened?? A legend in what?? seriously?? same category as Big, Pac and Jay? ROFL!!!!!!!!!! I think people get popularity mixed with true talent.. you have to learn to separate the two.

  191. drob Says:

    Not even close.

Wayne still don’t make much sense with what he is saying 60% of the time.

His delivery is masterful – just need to the work on firm up his rhymes.

  192. d0m1n1k Says:

    1. of all sry for my english, im from germany.
I listen to hip hop and rap for almost 14 years now and i have to say for me personal : Lil Wayne is at the moment the greatest rapper alive.
i hope he will stop drinkin that syrup shit because if wayne stays clean from chemicals i think he will be remembered as one of the greatest of all time !
Hope he does that rehab !

  193. ApplauseDrownsOutMyIpod Says:

this comment will probably get me in enough trouble but big was only 2 albums in when we was declared the greatest so to say weezy hasnt dont enought is blasphemous. weezy has been going crazy since he did that song “tell me” with bobby valentino only thing is people didnt really notice until around the time “you” with lloyd came out. hes on a different level hes borderline insane/brilliant. the only rapper today who compares is a Jay-Z so why wouldnt his name belong there again?

  194. Paradigm Says:

If Lil Wayne is a legend I am Jackie Chan

  195. Paradigm Says:

If Lil Wayne is a legend I am Jackie Chan.
Calling him a legend surely proves where Hip Hop is headed and I’m glad Lupe Fiasco and Nas are still around.

  196. Starz Says:

  197. Dat Dude Says:

yet da world hates.. da dude is a legend in every right.. he will alwayz b remembered cuz he did shit da other niggas didnt when it comes to puttin on music ppl listen to.. u hear da nigga on everything and he still is not finish give da man his cuz he goin to b around.. niggas from new york mad cuz da man from da south dats all suck yall shit up stop actin lik bitches let another nigga come up no matter where he from… hot music is hot music and he will alwayz b remembered for puttin out da most music in a single year den most niggas do in theirs careers.. legend all day

with all your hate he will become alegend because all talk about him no matter if bad or good!
    he’ll do his thang.
    THE CARTER 3

  206. Joe Andriulli Says:

This isn’t Lil Wayne’s accension into the upper tiers of greatness, but to be honest this is his oppertunity to join the ranks. A few more honest tunes and less club bangers.

  207. Eric Coston Says:

You people fail to realize that BIG, Tupac, and Jay Z (who takes so many people line so he’s far from original) all did one thing and thats influenced a lot of people. Tell me Lil Wayne doesnt have the lyrics or the ifluential presence the way they do.

  208. jmharwell Says:

listen Jigga thanks hes close and besides whos to say if pac and biggie were alive that theyd be puttenout good shit hes the closest and we be a legend

  209. stevie wonder Says:

  212. Ran$om Says:

Yall people are not getting it

even if this cd isnt a classic(i like it tho) that doesnt make him any less of a Rapper!! yall got it messed up he needs no deep clasic album shit he dnt even have to sell(even tho he sold about as much as ush did in a week in a day lol) for the world to kno he is the best add up the mixtapes + cash money shit + the 500 degrees + the carters + all the damn features and singing and shit he has done he easilly the nicest and best rapper on the mic!
this shit reminds me of the whole payton manning stuff
they say he couldnt be great untill he got some super bowl rings but he was with the greats before he even touched a super bowl ring!
    C3
I GOT IT SO GO GET IT

  213. Tellknozwho Says:

lil Wayne is just a Catchy ass Brotha, and thats it. No offense but yall defending someone who kissed a man on the Lips! Lmbao, come on, and to #212 YOu have to have a classic album to be considered the reatest! what kinda shit is that? How many albums did he come out with and he didn’t even get 4 mics?!?!
Wayne is just a corporate puppet who’s only feeding the audience who’s gonna buy his album, people who just listen to coons talkin about killin “Nigga’s” not White people. White people buy 80% of hip hop today, so Hip Hop is not for the hood any more…

I’m feelin this new artist from Brooklyn tho, his names Sekou Metaphyz and here’s his new video “Gush”
