Race Becomes A Major Issue For R.Kelly’s Jury Selection
Jury selection was completed at R.Kelly’s child pornography trial Thursday amid contentious exchanges between prosecutors and defense attorneys, who accused each other of trying to stack the panel along racial lines.
The jury consists of eight whites and four blacks. The four alternates are two blacks, one Hispanic and one white. Defense attorneys objected several times as prosecutors used challenges to have blacks dismissed from the jury pool.

Do you think race plays an issue when it comes to jury selection? I would be more concerned about gender and what kind of experiences the woman selected have been through with men.

Of course race matters, black people were screaming Free T.I. and the nigga got caught with guns, buying guns ect. We are more likely to let him off but your right gender matters to.
Not sure if anyone remembers the O.J. case but Cochran did the same thing. The proscecution basically picked 9 black women trying point out that OJ married this white bitch and killed her. They were hoping black women would hate on him for being with a white girl and then side with the girl because of gender. But cochran had the best response and played the race card. Said Mark Ferman was a known racist, glove was planted ect. Thats how OJ got off, and thats how they are trying to get Kells off. Race and gender are always key in a jury of your “peers”.

Its illegal to select a jury based on race and there are rules in jury selection that help prevent that. I’m not sure it would play that much of a role anyway. There is only one issue in this case. Is that the girl in the tape? Several years after the fact she starts saying it aint her. If you were accused of being in a video gettin peed on, wouldn’t you stand up IMMEDIATELY and say it wasn’t you if it really wasnt? Kellz going to jail.
we all know OJ was guilty.the blacks got him off. but R,Kelly didnt kill anyone or force anyone to have sex with him,she was ready an willing.Im a true R.Kelly fan and I am white,I would let him off, because I seen the tape and there wasnt a gun to her head.she was not forced.so I can not totally blame him. she may have not told her true age, girls do it all the time in the real world to regular guys.god gave him a great talent, and he used it to get out of the ghetto and make a great future for his self.but we know there are raciest whites and blacks,its on both sides.I am from s.c and I would hate for it to be here because I know If it was up to the whites he would never get out.Im sure in the north its different and I hope he beats this and moves on with a lesson learned.I enjoyed his music and his concerts which I ve been to quite a few and hope to see him again.
@mstkelly34: R.Kelly was that girls’s godfather, but the media barely sates the facts as we all know. He has a history of this. Aaliyah married him at 15. It is well-known had sex with other young daughters of friends or accosiates. And that’s foul. I agree with you to some degree (she was not physically forced) but R.Kelly knows the law and he did the crime so he has to do the time.

You dont have to ever come to LA to find out that a black nigga aint getting away with a double murder in brentwood, especially OJ simpson. Not all athletes are dumb but I think most are.
