Is Hip Hop Encouraging Violence In Britain?

He said: “I love hip hop. But it has to take some responsibility for the gun culture we’ve got over here. We’re getting super-violent.

“You can walk around the Bronx for days on end and nobody bothers you. In England, you can say the wrong thing in a pub and, before you know it, you’ve got a bottle over your head or a bullet in your brain. English people have got quicker tempers.”

I dont get his comparison between the Bronx and England. You say the wrong thing anywhere and you can end up in a casket. Hip Hop may play a role in the violence, but again there a bigger factors than music involved. A grandmother of an actor recently stabbed in Britain had this to say:

“Society in Britain today is spiralling out of control. Knife crime is not an innercity-problem, it’s everywhere. It’s a problem for all of us, all of society. People need to be taught respect. It shouldn’t be up to schools to instill respect. It must start with the parents at home before that.”

It is time for parents to step it up and laws to become more strict.

The UK is in a state right now. It’s bad for me, but we do need up the drinking age to 21, like in the US.

It has nothing to do with hip hop, people getting killed for all reasons; blacks, whites, asians, young and old. Most of its down to drink and drugs, but if anythin i’d put video games and movies ahead of hip hop.

Realtalk…sh!ts jus fcked up and been fcked up for centuries! I still think capitalism and the bleeding of money and EXTRA ULTRA competitiveness of business is the majority of the problem… liquor, weapons, etc are all products to be sold for a profit to be made so the companies and industries behind them will do whatever is necessary to get they money even if it means pions gettin all f’ed up then stabbin and shootin each other!

i do agree that hip hop is the least to be blamed for stuff like this but like it or not, outside factors do play a huge role in kids upbringing. anybody try to picture themselves as a parent, try telling your son you can and will not buy ya kids $200 jordans or that its wrong to smoke weed. you might have a hard time getting through to him because in schools to day, yes even grade school, you will be suprised how many kids (even 12 13 and up) smoke weed. esp. given the fact that police dont even trip that much when they catch you with a little herb. the outside influence is so strong that you will need to be a mega parent to set ya child straight. ills of society are now becoming norms. parents need to step their parenting game up and the people in charge need to control what are kids are seeing in the media. i mean just look at disney channel. a lot of the shows on there xpose kids to sexuality at such a young agae. healthy families produce healthy productive citizens. women stop opening ya legs to irresponsible men and men stop being players and start being responsible
