New Artist Spotlight: Remo
Remo - Runnin Home
Remo - Sweet
Remo - Remeber The Time
Remo Green was born November 2, 1989, in South Carolina and began his career as a model and actor for commercials, products, and TV shows nationwide. After discovering his natural born talent, and seeing some success, his dad made an urgent decision to move the young star, his sister, and his mom to Manhattan, New York to further pursue Remo’s destiny with music, while he stayed back in their hometown to fund the dream. After just a few months of auditioning for gigs, Remo landed the role of Simba, in the blockbuster hit Broadway Musical The Lion King and was able to work his way into bigger and better contacts.
More on Remo below, thoughts on his music?
After the stint with Lion King — it slowed way down and the family endured a heart-breaking journey of homelessness… dreaming about a superstar lifestyle while the family secretly lived in their car, behind a hotel for four months. As time progressed his dad got things back up to speed and Remo was able to continue auditions and start to adapt more to the New York lifestyle.
He eventually landed a management contract and modeling contract already in hand, he’s already appeared in NBC’s television drama Third Watch, Law & Order, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien, LIVE tapings with Disney, Nickelodeon, and a major role in a feature film “Paid In Full” starring Mekhi Phifer. And after all of that, Remo says “I love acting, I still do it…but when I wake up — I wake up writing music. Melodies just come to me.”
By the time Remo was 17 he was making contacts from the church he attended in Brooklyn, and hooked himself up with some top producers in the city. Almost every major producer in New York has asked about him. The inside buzz on the streets from Brooklyn to Harlem has already landed him in the studio with multi-platinum artists like Doug E. Fresh, Ryan Leslie, Rodney Jerkins aside from his usual frequent sessions with Sony and Atlantic recording artists and his project with StarTrek’s artist, Teyana Taylor.
Grammy award winning Producer Troy Taylor (Boyz II Men, Brian Mcknight Whitney Houston, B2k, Pretty Ricky) recently called him into the studio to work on a project and said, “Of all the artists I know, Remo is in his own category…because he loves music the way a superstar would… and I’ve only seen that a couple of times in my career.”
Remo has been working in the studio with top writer/producers like Ryan Leslie (Cassie, Diddy) and Howard Britt (Troy Taylor/Patti Labelle) and is starting to book shows for his new instant smash single “RUNNIN’ HOME” slated for a September 15th official release. After hearing only a few snippets of Remo’s forthcoming project, his managers have booked meetings with Major recording labels and gained the attention of Matthew Knowles (manager of megastar: Beyonce’). With his excessive addiction to learning about music and help from the music industry’s top executives, this kid is going to be bigger than the typical R&B street corner sound that would be expected.
In his track “RUNNIN’ HOME”, co-written with the help of his dad and his producer Howard Britt, the singer/model/songwriter talks about the realization of almost losing one of the most beautiful girl’s he’s ever met and running back to her to show her the full appreciation she deserves.
