Jennifer Hudson – Spotlight
Jennifer Hudson – Spotlight
“Spotlight,” was written by Ne-Yo and is said to be the first single of her debut album. You would of thought she has dropped an album by now.

Sabotage! Thats what I call it (don’t know if she picked it or not) but I don’t think this song fits here voice at all… and she has a GREAT voice!

I swear, Jennifer should do a gospel CD. It is toooooo much for soul or pop songs… Her voice sounds the same on EVERY SONG SHE SINGS! It irks the hell out of me. And to ALL those folks that were on her dick when Dreamgirls dropped…it was clearly to dig into Bee. Jennifer is a talent, but her and Bee are two different folks so all that comparing was silly!

@1 i agree the lyrics are realle good but this really shouldn’t be her first single or her song for that matter…. i think someone else would do it more justice…..I kind of think she’s lost her buzz I think she should have released an album last year

She sounds like she’s 40 years old and this song sounds too old school. Definitely not a good first single.

In my opinion, she didn’t deserve to win the Academy Award. I don’t care if I get my haters to come out but it was a weak year. The only person in the category who gave her competition was Cate Blanchett and they didn’t give to her because it shows too much favoritism.
Anyway…maybe I’m bugging but I enjoyed the song maybe because I’m fucking bored at work right now LOL but it really aint first single material. It sounds the song I would hear in New York movie scene with a woman walking down the street all depressed and shit.

Her voice is amazing but she needs better material.

I actually think this song is quite good. I was hoping she would hit harder with her first single, but considering her album doesn’t drop until september this will get her in the door and hopefully she will hit hard with her next single!
Sometimes its good to lower expectations with the first single and move up from there.

I actually like the song. I think Jennifer sounds good. She has a powerful. I did expect a different type of song for her first single – but it’s all good.
I wish her much success.

J-Hud could sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and I’d go running out to buy it. Her voice is a breathe of fresh air. The girl can SANG! After having the market pumped with life size dolls (the Beyonce and Rihannas) that can’t hold a vocal candle to J-Hud, I’m so elated to know that there is actually a target date for her album release. The countdown begins. For all the life size doll lovers, “Spotlight” is actually a jam– something I can see myself listening to 10 years from now!

I absolutely love Jennifer and I freaking love this song. This song showcases a different side to Jennifer and it shows how versatile she is. I purchased Spotlight on iTunes yesterday….I so can’t wait until the full length is released on September 30th.

I like the song it’s cute for her first single

I think it’s an excellent first single. It reminds us of who she is vocally, she is not the typical hip hop urban artist. THis is a diva who will have a long and varied career. Just wait for the rest of the album to drop and I’m positive we’ll here ALL that we want. I love the song, who said old school was bad?!! Keep the faith Jennifer!!! First album they will try and pic it apart.

This is so funny, I never understood why people make these blogs about different things, when they know that everyone is not going to agree on the same thing and that everyone has different taste. Once again Ne-Yo has done an exceptional job with writing skills and has done his thing. The song may or maynot fit her voice, to some people, but persoanlly I don’t want to here her scream all the time, and this gives us an oppurtunity to hear her differently and soft. KUDOS TO NE-YO AND J-HUD.

HATERS!!! I love the song it not only shows that her voice can cross over to pop but it shows that she can control her vocals. She looks fab! I appreciate the fact that we get to see various sides of JHUD not just the power house singer…gospel queen. This chic has true talent. Talent I knew would take the world be storm.
Oh, to the DA Baddest Bitch…you are out of line. Really. Grown up little girl. Before you let the world discover that you are truly the dumbest bitch!
JHUD keep singing! HATERS keep hating on chat boards while she is getting paid!
