Real Talk how could Soulja Boy not be on this list when he was one of the most popular MCs for the year and broke records with ringtone sales. No matter how much you might hate him, how could Andre 3000 be considered the, “hotter,” MC over the last year? The top 5 is solid but I don’t know how Rick Ross is higher than 50 Cent. Also I would put Lupe over Snoop Dogg.

Being the best rapper is like getting a A in a class. To get that A you gotta do homework, classwork, projects, quizzes, tests, papers ect. I think MTV should have to explain the criteria for electing these rappers. Are they lookin at albums sales, swagger, money, influence, buzz. I figured out why white people like Kanye so much. Outside of his beats and music cause hes obviously talented and has a work ethic that you cant teach.
Ye is like a white kid kinda. Temper tantrums, saying fuck this magazine fuck this network ect. Thats what white kids do and thats what their parents are use to. Plus he dresses different than most niggas. Polo shirts, jeans that fit and blazers make you more approachable than a fresh white tee.

Hov is the greatest out now and the greatest of all time period. how can people be saying Wayne is hotter than Hov, Kanye & Lupe when all he has is lollipop his album aint even out yet his mixtapes and features aint really relevant its all about a great solo album which Lupe, Kanye, Hov all had recently, nobody else on that list has a great solo album out at the moment apart from those 3.

I’m not dissin entirely this list, agree with kanye #1 just because he won loads of grammys and sold the most records, but my list would be must from the point of view of the streets, not from the mainstream public appeal factor
1. Game – because without no album, but with 2-3 mixtapes he still got the streets locked talkin all over about l.a.x., and he’s pretty much everywhere, p.s he also won the mtv poll with a large majority
2. Lil Wayne – I really hate his new songs, but he made some really hot verses on pop bottles and duffle bag boy, also he is probably the most talked about rapper since 50 came out in 2003
3. 50 – yes, he was beaten by kanye at sales, but he kept it close to the streets releasing like 3-4 mixtapes and even I don’t remember how many videos he made with g-unit
4 Kanye – the thing with him is that on street level he still cannot get enough respect to be the hottest, he may be the hottest if we count his achievements, but outside Michigan streets I don’t think he is so well received by the peeps
5 Lupe – he is the most versatile lyricist on the list, and even if he gets the nerd tag upon him, by now I don’t now anybody from the streets who would say he’s not real, along with kanye, evidence and el-p he had last years best rap album
6 Ross – he ain’t that much of a lyricist, but he brought back Miami on the map, and with his storytelling about coke, he really gets much respect from the streets rite now, I think trick daddy might have lost his crown of King of Miami
7 Jay-Z – well he definitely had a great album last year and had probably the hottest video also for roc boys, but the thing why he is so low cause it seems he’s cut off from the realities of the streets, he is too much of a trump type of person now to still have his ears to the streets
8 Prodigy – if we’re talkin about the streets perspective you just can’t let him slip out from this list, he made two classic albums in one year, retirn of the mac and HNIC 2, now who else can do such a thing anymore, it’s a damn shame he will go out from the radar for 3 years
9 Snoop – well there might’ve been others who had written for his album, but let’s face it, he brought back that classic ’80’s funk music on the radio’s, and also his album was almost flawless from the beginning to the end and brought a breath of fresh air to the game
10 Crooked I – this guy just came from nowhere, although he was in the game from a pretty long time, and he delivered us the unstopping hip hop weekly series, if he will deliver us a classic album which I’m certain he can deliver, next year he might be in the first half of the top 10

Yo!!! You know what, mother Fuck MTV!!! MTV SUCKS!!! period. “MTV 2008 Hottest Top Ten MCs”. To me MTV is so blasphamy. Lil’ Wayne, he wasn’t supposed to be #1 last year. So what if he did about 77 remixes including himself featuring on artist’s song. Everybody was wating for The Carter III since late 2007 and Universal Records/Motown put it back on shelves, now got a release date from May to June. Whoever that guy was saying that he is “more creative than Jay-Z”, he needs a slap on a face. We all know what Jay-Z respresents as an MC. Lil’ Wayne is an irrelivent, he cheats his way to the top by stealing swags, stealing rhymes, didn’t back his words, ect. And now look, kanYE West in my own ears detroys Lil’ Wayne’s remix to Lollipop. Kanye rips the remix hands down. So until The Cater III boasts his records sells and promotes it right, he gots to compete other artists to get to the top. So he shouldn’t be #1 last year or on top 3 Mcs list. I would put Andre 3000 of Outkast top 5. He did have a recnt joint was good and he goes hard on The Art of Storytelling part 4. Be on a look out for him and Big Boi solo albums this year. Big Boi should be on the list too. Rick Ross step up with The Boss. 50 Cent should be on top 5 regardless. Jay-Z did got the best album American Gangster. He always and forever be be on top of the lists. He really represetns what an Mcs is all about. kanYe West shoulda been #1 last year over Lil’ Wayne anyday. kanYe gives you stories, gives something that we can relate to, some banging hits, and his flows is on point. In my own eyes, Lupe Fiasco should be #1 of 2008 because EVERYBODY slept on his album The Cool and he will school you three elements of The Cool. He may not get the street cred, but he got his fans that will understand where he’s coming from in profound manner. Also Talib Kweli wasn’t mention on Top 10. Wassup with that. Every body slept on Eardrum-listen to the whole tracks- his rhymes is like preaching political to the people of hip hop. Fabolous should be there as well to all of haters online commenting that he’s wack, garbage, gay, etc. Kick rocks assholeS!!!! From Nothing To Something is if not the hardest album of last year. Also didn’t mention: Common. The Game is garbage-that’s all. He’s not a songwriter and he is inconsistant of who he is. Also he’s lies too much. Look out for Tru-Life, Saigon- if the shitty label Atlantic get it together by giving him the release date. Also Joell Ortiz- an original piece to the puzzle of hip hop. I keep seeing kats say that Dre 3000 needs some new material in order to be considered “currently hot”. I do not believe Jay is upset with the list if anything I believe that he’s proud of Kanye. Kanye had an amazing year with Graduation and his hardwork and dedication should be respected because his album was phenomenal. Kanye being number one in the game right now is well deserved in all reality and I am glad that he’s over 50, Lil Wayne, and all these other rappers out here because his creativity is on a way higher level than those other guys. In all reality I am proud that Jay made #2 because that shows that this 38 year old Legend is still relevant in the game today and it shows you that he’s the greatest of all time. Jay doesn’t have a point to prove anymore. He’s the man and everyone knows it. It would take the other rappers on that list decades to surpass Jay-Z career, albums, record sales, money, and business ventures. Jay-Z leads all of those rappers regardless, even if he was #10 on the list. Every rapper on the list admires that man. Jay’s career is nothing but greatness and Kanye knows that. I am happy that Kanye is on the top because that shows you how powerful Roca Fella still is!! Look at the list, TWO ROC BOYS IN THE LEAD!!! Kanye and his Big Brother are showing these wanna be’s out here how it’s done!
