Green Lantern Comments On Nas New Nigger Mixtape
What did you think of Nas having to change his album title?
Interesting. I guess it shows you the power of Wal-Mart and Target. If that was the case, it’s definitely scary because it kind of f*cks with your artistic vision. But Nas and DJ Green Lantern are coming out with a mixtape called The N****r Tape. Can’t nobody hold that back. [Laughs.]Full Story: Rhapsody
So you think retailers pressured Nas into changing the title?

Looks like Green Lantern eyes were one fire last year….
Homey needs to get some sleep….F ‘The N****r Mixtape,’ focus on the ‘Get Some Rest In Your Bed Now Before Your Eyes Fall Out And Roll In The Sewer To Be Never Seen Again Mixtape…’
Overall, I’m looking forward to that new Nas album and the Mixtape, but am I the only who thinks that Nas’s album change was probably for the best?? I mean really think about it. Yeah, I’m not going to lie I wanted Nas to release the album by that title but then I began to think think deep on the issue. I mean with what’s going on in today’s world (Obama, race issues, seeing more minorities achieving/reaching higher goals, etc….), do you guys really think that album title is needed nowadays??? I mean, I could understand a album title like that back in the late 80’s to mid 90’s, but now????
Enough rambling, time to get me some sleep. Don’t want my eyes looking like GL’s.

i was definitely disappointed when i heard he changed the name of his album.
it seemed like nothing but a sell out for money over artistic vision.
if it was ok for him to change the name, then it must have not meant enough to the album, meaning it was all just to get attention.
but i guess he is a rapper before artist. “get that paper” right.

did wal-mart and target make him change the title? HELL YEAH!
May 27th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
How about the record company made him change it? They didn’t want that heat on them. Maybe Nas should become independent and release whatever title he wanted…Walmart sell too much other stuff to care about Nas’ album, they rich without his product. RealTalk

Ya’ll act like Nasir Jones was behind changing that title. That was the powers that be at Def Jam. They wanna make money and if Wal-Mart and them won’t put the shit in their stores, Def Jam’s losing money and that is unacceptable for them.

Of course he did Def Jam were going along with yes Nas title is all fine then as soon as its getting nearer to it bein realeased they made it changed because they knew they would lose money. You also got to remember more white people buy CD’s than black people.

Honestly I think Nas changed the title on the album himself, only because and due to the fact that white people won’t buy the album because they scarred of it!

“it” beeing the title of the album!
May 28th, 2008 at 7:35 am
Yeah I think it was walmart. They got some good prices tooo..
May 28th, 2008 at 9:44 am
2 WORDS
“DEF JAM”
LOL THATS WHAT MADE THE TITTLE CHANGE BUT IT WOULDNT SURPRISE ME IF THIS WAS JUST A PLOT ALL ALONG U KNOW CALL THE ALBUM “NIGGER” FOR MONTHS GET A BUZ THEN CHANGE IT LAST SEC.. BUT THE BIG STORY IS NOT THE ALBUM TITTLE BUT THE CONTENT OF THE ALBUM!!! ITS STILL IS BASED AROUND THE REAL TITTLE SO ITS GONNA BE TALKED ABOUT FOR A LONG AS TIME

Does it really matter who made him change it? Just look forward to another album with great lyrics and garbage beats…that’s been that man’s pattern since the late 90’s

You know what, to hell with the naming issues, let’s just enjoy his music for what it is. I’ve always been a huge fan of Nas, and I wish there were more true lyricists still out there making music. Any other **Nas fans** should check out this playlist at http://www.maestro.fm of a bunch of great songs he’s done over the past several years: maestro.fm – Nas Beats Mix 2008
