I try to keep my comments to myself, but this one time, I can’t hold it in anymore. I don’t even know where to begin because this shit is still surreal to me right now. First let me start by addressing the actual case. It’s one thing for us to FEEL like these cops were gonna get off for murdering this dude, but I think where the outrage comes in is to actually hear that judge say NOT GUILTY. It feels like an emptiness in the pit of your stomach and rage just overcomes you. I know how it feels first hand because something similar happened with my brother. It is my personal feeling that if you are black and you grew up in this type of environment, you have this sort of intuition that shit like this acquittal is gonna happen all the time…and even though we have this intuition, it’s still too hard to deal with.

But to address what some of the rappers said…I agree and disagree with some of them. One thing I totally disagree with is rioting when shit like this happens. That shit doesn’t accomplish anything. Think about it, when a riot pops off its OUR neighborhoods being destroyed, OUR businesses ruined, and OUR people are hurt/killed. They already look at us like we’re some fucking animals, and all a riot is gonna do is have them say “ha, I told you those niggers were animals…you piss them off and they behave like a wild animals”. So that’s not the solution. I believe the solution is to become educated. Educate yourself on the law and how to protect yourselves, similar to what the Black Panthers did. And boycott…the best way to hurt someone is by hitting them in their pockets…that’s when muthafuckas start listening! We gotta stand up for ourselves, but we have to do it the RIGHT way. But I pray that God has mercy on the souls of those cops!
