I understand where he’s coming from. It is kinda a surprise that he used a preset loop, but producers basically take loops from an old song and put bass and drums over it. The only difference that he did not sample a record but took a sample from a program. If it is so easy to make a hit why didn’t any of yall make a hit with the same program? lol….Anyone can remake a song that was already made. Polow has grinded and made thousands of songs where he put a lot more work into than this one. A Producers name is more of what sells the beats from them griding getting known and making hits and making quality records overall than just 1 record that they make. So it is not always fair to us, but to get where he is and marketing himself to get in contact with superstars is the real challenge.

I’m pretty sure PLENTY of people have scaned through those exact same sounds on Garage Band and never thought of blending both of those sounds 2gether. It’s sampling in it’s simplest form and KNOWING what sounds that mesh well w/ each other. That’s what makes Polow da producer he is. It’s not really a big deal, it jus so happens it’s not a vintage record he got the loop from.
I don’t know if ya’ll remember Swizz takin’ a preset from a Roland (keyboard) and making “Down Bottom” w/ it and getting sued. The difference w/ that was he took a SONG PRESET, NOT A LOOP PRESET like Polow did. So kill the LaWSuiT talk.

I just have a problem because when producers flip a sample (and I work with a producer who does pretty frequently), they have to give up a certain percentage of they’re publishing to the original owners of the sample (obviously). Polow is “flipping a sample,” so to speak, but he doesn’t have to give up any front end, back end, or any publishing because all those garageband loops are fair use. He may have the ears to come up with the beat concept - but it’s pretty cheap to do so using apple preset loops. It may not be legally “wrong,” but in my mind it’s ethically wrong. The only fallback for Polow would be one of discredit on the streets or within the industry. I can’t even count how many times I’ve heard a garageband or reason factory loop used in commercials, soundtracks, and songs. In my mind, I already think of the “writer” as uninspired, unoriginal, and lacking creativity. There is a certain style, grace, and elegance when a producer pays homage to an old school artist and flips their song. In doing so, the new school is recognizing the old school, and paying respect as well as royalties. The listeners, the streets, and the industry all recognize that act, and respect the producer for innovating something old.
Polow just grabbed a loop and called it his own. Whack.
You will not find him in any industry magazine thanking garageband for providing inpsirato.

No hate just facts
1) NEVER shit on Fl Studio. That program is DDDDDOPE!!! hint: you have to use your own sounds and vsts though…
2) What yall aren’t seeing is that. It is not like he put these loops together creatively. They were MADE TO GO TOGETHER by someone else! Euro hero synth 1, 2, and 3 or whatever. Those loops are right by each other in the browser. Polow sucks for this. It is not legally wrong, but it is WEAK! He lost cred for this PERIOD…
3) This is NOT the same as sampling. Kanye takes TIME to craft beats and dig for and chop samples. Obviously Polow does not. Did he make six figs for that shit? YES. Am I happy for him? YES. Am I mad at him? NO. He ain’t doing shit that swiss did not already do (which makes it all the more weak in my opinion).
4) And for those of you saying, “yall just mad cause ya’ll didn’t find those sounds and use em.” Shut yo dumb ass up… Nobody uses those presets as they are becuase that is well known to be some weak shit for a talented producer to do…
You don’t like what I am saying, them shove it up your ass…

There isn’t a debate here.
The loops in Garage Band are royalty free. What Polow did is absolutely correct. He won’t pay for the sample.
By buying the Apple PC or MAC you get Garage Band + Presets / Samples. That makes you the owner of the preset. You paid for it. Therefore, for Polow, he used something he bought and made a good beat out of it. Don’t hate the player, hate the fact that some of you didn’t think of it sooner or didn’t release a track with the same sample.
It’s like Pharrell from The Neptunes. All his sounds are samples from his Korg(if i stand correct) keyboard. Same rules apply.
Peace!!! Btw. I’m a music producer so I know.
If you didn’t know. All samples bought from FL studio (for example) are yours!!! Do what you like (And you won’t pay for sample clearance).

2)FL STUDIO IS BY FAR THE MOST ADVANCED MIDI SEQUENCER OUT IN THE MARKET.
3)DON’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ IN SCRATCH MAGAZINE.
“^^ LOL CALM DOWN U FUCCIN H-O-M-O”
^ LMAO LOOK AT THIS ASS WIPE POSTING UNDER A DIFFERENT NAME,DON’T MAKE ME EXPOSE YOU DICK BREATH
even the drums for umbrella is a garage band loop
haha at “smart black man”
loops in programs can be used without polow gettin a call from apple.
so if i just made a beat, of kicks and claps from garage band, they’d give me a call? no.
a preset loop, and preset kicks/claps are the same thing.
if you make something of it, it’s your sound. they gave it to you in the first place when you bought the product
lemma laugh at smart black man again.
so if i bought a box of crayola crayons..
and drew a picture, and sold the picture…
crayola would give me a call, cuz i used their crayons to create it?
hahahah yaaaawn
Hahahaaaa… If yall really had it, you would see that all 3 loops have the same name… Euro hero synth 1, 2 and 3… Oh yeah… That’s skills…
Yo, Its me….
[...] know I’m late for this…I saw this on Real Talk NY a while back but never bothered to click on it until tonight when my girl told me that I [...]
#31!!! for your info…protools is nice..once you learn all the how tos, but reasons? hot sounds boo boo program. I have fl 8 and with my own after market programs runnin in it, my tweaks, and knowledge of the program it shits on cubase, garage band, reasons, or whatever you got to throw at me. I also have two akai mpcs in there too.
and yo real talk, polow got 6 figures for that track…we downloaded the loops today and made a harder beat..I WANT A CHECK THAT SIZE haha. in my eyes dude lost credibility as a leading producer in the game.
those loops are royality free…. either way that doesnt take away from his talent bottomline
Do what you like (And you won’t pay for sample clearance).
yo does anyone know what those loops are called , just interrested, i mess with garage band and polow the don is not the only producer that uses loops of of garage band, he is the only one that got exposed to the public, trust me there are so many lloops on garageband that you wouldnt know who used what, he just happend to get caught
