Hmm…There have been lot of great R&B/soul artists throughout history so I’m not gonna call him the “King” but he’s definitely the King of his generation. He has a good voice but at the same time he is still not a vocalist like the great Sam Cooke for example but anyway, when you talk about all time great R&b artists you have to mention R.Kelly to at least be one of the best cause he’s overall a brilliant artist. He’s been a great artist who has managed to mix his music with traditional soul music, to uptempo R&B songs, to gospel music and that ol Chicago Steppin music and dance. And just like Mary J Blige he’s one of the pioneers when it comes to mix hiphop and R&B together. He’s doing his own thing cause he’s a singer, songwriter and producer and he got his own sound that was created by himself. R. Kelly is a musical genious (Yes I’m a big fan of Kellz LOL)
I have to say that I’m disappointed that these last couple of years he has put out some very mediocre R&B/hiphop songs though. R.Kelly needs to get himself together. I hope he still got it and that he drops another classic album in the future.
