Artists are too eager to participate & the audience is too eager to endulge in it. I get tired of the "puppet master" mentality when it comes to us. Not all of us are mindless, shallow, under educated minions just waiting for our great puppet masters to lead us. Some of us are independent thinkers who see the forrest for the trees. Even though I can't speak for her, I believe she woulda been better served rewording her statment. But don't be too eager to dismiss the context in which these statements were made. I understand that in today's world, people need everything dumbed down to get it, but take a second to marinate on the context of her words.
