Common Speaks About The New Album And Movie, “Street Kings”

COMMON: Oh yeah, some new shifts. Actually the new album is called Invincible Summer and it will be out in the later part of June. I guess the new shift is just the music sounds newer. It’s really developing. I’m really happy about it. It feels good. It’s not really heavy and it’s Pharrell from The Neptunes and The Neptunes are producing a lot of it. And also a producer named Mr. DJ who did a lot of work for OutKast, did Bombs Over Baghdad and Ms. Jackson. Anyway, these cats are really giving me some new, fresh sounds and I’m taking it somewhere vocally that I haven’t been before. I’m enthused. I’m really excited. I think it’ll be a great summer album, like for people to feel good. I want to make people smile and enjoy life. As much as I want to make them think, it’s important that they smile too.

Foxy Due Out Next Week

Foxy Brown is coming home. After serving eight months in New York correctional facility, SOHH has learned that the Brooklyn-bred rapper star will be freed next Friday (April 18).

“Foxy will be released on April 18th,” Foxy’s manager and CEO of Black Hand Entertainment, Chazz Williams told SOHH. “[She's] is not getting out early. Foxy served her entire sentence [under] good time, that is, days deducted by the law, that every prisoner gets unless its procedurally taken [away] for breaking prison rules.” [ source ]

Good news, at last! I know I’m not the only one who has been missing that Lion King hair and those press-on nails that we all love (sarcasm). Foxy is also reportedly working on a reality show to follow her release from the big house.

Cedella Marley Booker Passes At 81

Cedella Marley Booker, mother of late reggae icon Bob Marley, died Tuesday night at her South Florida home after a long illness. She was 81.

Booker was surrounded by loved ones inside her South Miami-Dade home and was ”very happy and very peaceful,” said daughter-in-law Sharien Booker. “Her vision was always to bring people together. She was a very loving person, and we know she’s happy.”

Booker’s grandson, Ky-Mani Marley, an accomplished musician himself, told The Miami Herald she had always been a “caring and supporting person in my life. She was always there to help me — even when I didn’t ask for help, she knew I needed help. She had that instinct to know when things were wrong and had the courage to fix it.” [ source ]

The Miami Herald reports that she is leaving behind 52 grandchildren. My prayers go out to the family in their loss.
