Shaq Is Now A Phoenix Sun

img9517792

The Phoenix Suns acquired Shaquille O’Neal in a stunning, blockbuster deal that sent four-time All-Star Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks to the Miami Heat.

The improbable pairing of the speedy Suns and the slow but once-mighty O’Neal became official when he cleared a physical exam Wednesday.

Shawn Marion, a great overall player, for an aging Shaq? I think the Suns are looking for a way to get over the hump, but I’m not sure if this is a good idea.

Shaq is looking like Larry Holmes old flabby and sick.

  2. The King Says:

the amazing thing is that he passed the physical
but i would like to see the lakers and the suns in the playoffs
then the lakers against the celtics or lebron in the finals, either would be crazy

  3. j-nice Says:

I dont know about this trade I have to see it to beleive it how in the world is shaq going to keep up with the suns I guess they are going to change their whole style of play

  4. ... Says:

i think its a good move.

suns know they can play smallball.

not that they win all the time with it..

but just the idea that they have shaq..

they can probably handle up against say..a spurs team (who whoops the suns like every time)

or against a yao ming… or whatever westcoast team with a big man

… look at it this way

who ELSE besides the heat could have taken marion?

warriors? yeah he fits, but for who?

im not sayin it was a clean ass trade, but it does change the westcoast up a bit.

  5. Mike Says:

GO Shaq……show these fools u still got it

  6. ELI MANNING Says:

    LETS GO LAKERS !!!

  7. OLA Says:

WHAT WHAT R U FUCKING KIDDIN ME. this would’ve been hot like 5 yrs ago but im sorry diesel, its over man, time 2 hang em up

  8. Pounce Says:

Lakers getting Gasol is like when 50 dropped piggy bank on niggas, the rest of the western conference got the green light on these trades. Everybody’s watchin! Gotta make a move, all that championship shit teams is talkin lol.

  9. Rawkuzz Says:

Shawn Marion has been trying to get traded before the season even started. He is a very good overall player. To be honest, I haven’t like Shaq since what he did to Anthony Hardaway. I think that him being traded in the middle of a season, lets u know his worth. I think Marion can bring more to the table. We will see.

  10. Dat Dude Says:

the suns is nasty shaq is gonna provide that big body thats all its gonna b a rap tho……..

  11. jay Says:

shaq used to be good i agree with #1 completely…they did this 2 counter laker’s 2 big man duo gasol and bynum so it was ok but stupid trade shaq has like 2yrs left suns wanna win a championship bad….shaq 2 slow now bynum shitted on shaq once he will do it again

  12. T-Cup Says:

I’ll say this…If Shaq wins another ring with the Suns he HAS to go down as the greatest center of our time.

The trade isnt that bad. The Suns are looking to win a title THIS year. All that run and gun offense doesnt work in the playoffs with San Antonio and Dallas. Shaq still has enough in the tank to give a good 20-25 minutes of defense..He doesnt need to score 35 points a night anymore. He wants rings now not stats.

The Heat of course needs to get Wade more help on both ends of the floor and Shawn Marion will definitely fit. I have no idea about the other guy that will go to Miami but point is the Heat got rid of Shaq and his contract and potentially kept Wade from walking in 2 years.

  13. KingSupreme Says:

    @12,

    Wrong.

The dude (and I’ve had much love for him) has always been on teams with lots of talent.

Orlando = Penny (he was elite before knees went out)
    Los Angeles = Kobe
    Miami = Wade
    Phoenix = Nash

If Shaq was on a team with mediocre talent, hed struggle to get passed the first or second round. No rings for sure.

He’s a top 5 center, but no greatest.. lol. His lazy atttitude made sure he didn’t reach his full potential for more then 1 season.

1 season MVP is a damn shame for him, but it is what it is.

All the teams he’s won rings with have had stacked rosters, this is no different.

They will be sick, but for only a season or so.

Lakers are set for the next 10 years.

  14. Pounce Says:

Everyone that has won a ring has been on a team with talent. Shit if you go back in the day before leauge expansion teams like the Lakers, Celtics, Sixers were stacked.

Imagine now adays if magic, kareem, worthy, cooper, scott and all these niggas had other teams like the magic, or hornets to play for. Worthy would have bounce and been making 100 mill for a weak ass team somewhere and missing the playoffs every year (similar to joe johnson playing for atlanta instead of phoenix and getting paid but losing).

So to say that Shaq has had help doesnt mean anything but he cant do it by himself, kinda like Jordan had pippen, Magic had kareem, bird had McHale ect.

  15. Pounce Says:

Also this trade is a win win for both teams, Riley said it best, Marion and Wade can be Jordan and Pip with the right help around em. They might get a top 10 pick and all the niggas coming out in this years draft, someone could help them at center spot or point guard.

I doubt Bynum comes back this year and Lakers need him to live up to their full potential. Lakers are the team to beat right now. Spurs lookin flabby and sick at times, Mavericks are pretenders and nobody thinks Chris Paul can win it all this year. Phoenix window is small like a bathroom window as far as opportunity to win it all.

  16. ................................ Says:

this has to be the worst trade ever for phoniex why he hell would they trade marion but if marion is cool wit it let it be smh at getting that old ass nigga

  17. 2cents Says:

    lol…

Bynum= 7′2″ I believe and has already proved he can match up with shaq on both ends while being younger and more energetic

Gasol= 7′0″ Versitile as hell, numbers man and we may not even have to run plays for him, good additional player (former All- star)

Odom= 6′10″ Match up problem for 90% of the league

KOBE= no comments needed you may not agree but in you’re heart you know!

Fish= SOLID ALL ACROSS THE BOARD

Plus: Farmar, Vujacic, Ariza, Radmanovic and Turiaf

last but not least we are younger and still have a lil trade bait!

Good try Pheonix lol @ a back to back MVP who hasn’t even played in the Finals! He’s no Magic, as much as they try to make it seem like dudes be on his level!!!

  18. Nx354 Says:

    Graet Move

    1. They tried for several years with Amare,Shawn, and Steve
    and couldn’t get it done

    2. Shawn Marion wasnt happy being the 3rd option so he denanded to be traded before the season started.

    3. They wont be able to run as much during the playoffs and will have to play more half-court physical game.

    4. HE’S STILL SHAQ
