Update: Pimp C’s Death Due To Overdose & Sleep Apnea
An overdose of cough syrup and a preexisting sleep apnea condition killed Chad Butler, better known as rapper Pimp C, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner. His death has been ruled an accident.
An October Chronicle report stated that drug experts have yet to determine definitive negative health effects of cough syrup abuse. But the city’s innovative and revered DJ Screw, who was notorious for ingesting codeine-based cough syrup, died of a heart attack in 2000 at age 29. Last year another local rapper, Big Moe, died of a heart attack at 33.
If you not coughing stop taking cough medicine, its not worth losing your life early.

It was not an overdose.
“”He had prescription medication in him when he passed away, and the levels were elevated but not real high, so it wasn’t an overdose from [the codeine], but we think it was a result of taking the cough medication with his sleeping problems,” Winter told MTV News.

When Pimp-C passed away, I already knew it was from “lean”. It’s a common trend in the south. It’s very sad csuse I’m a huge U.G.K. fan and he died for nothing. Sippin on that shit and getting a buzz ain’t worth ur life. Pimp-C was doing big thangs and his death could have been prevented. Damn he just got out of prison 2 years ago. I know I was one of the ones anticipating the reunion of U.G.K. and now this shit. It’s crazy. We all gotta stop and think about our actions because it not only affects us, but also the ones we love.
