I’m a big Ghost Fan , but he is stuck in the 90s. Thats what’s wrong with NY rap. Yall so stuck in the 80s and 90s. The glory days are over. The south has risen. A new sound has emerged. Either upgrade your shit or stay washed up. It’s your choice. But your radio stations will continue to be dominated by the south! What’s your favorite song right now??? I bet it’s Shawty Lo!

Stuck in the 90's? That was the best time in hip hop. I'm 17 years old. And this new southern sound don't do a damn thing for me. Except make me wish I was 10 years older. But really though. I don't amtter what decade we in Good music is good music. And music should always be good. The fact is that today in 2008, the music sucks. In the 90's and 80's the music was great. The essence of this music aint there no more. And just cuz it's 2008 don't mean that we have to forget the essence. Southern rappers that still give me that feel are Ludacris, Devin the Dude and Scarface. And 2 out of the three don't even get love like they should. Kanye has that feel too. And he has the highest selling hip hop album last year. He even said that a lot of his inspiration comes from that NY golden age hip hop. Bring it back man. And it's not just the south. Rappers like 50 cent and Jim Jones aint that great either. The old 50 Cent is what he needs to get back too. Songs like In Da Club and Many Men are classics. Music today will be forgotten 10 years later. Songs that we like now like Soulja Boy Crank that will be laughed at not even 10 years from now. I understand that today's generation (especially the south) wanna make that paper to feed thier families and what not. And that's cool. I say do what you need to do to live a good life. But I long for a time when we can make money while providing quality music for the popel. Back in teh 90's you had Outkast who where in thier late teens and 20s and they were makin classic material and eatin at the same time. Nas hit us with Illmatic, Biggie hit us with Ready to Die, Jay hit us with Reasonable Doubt and the list keeps going. I'm not sayin that the Soulja Boy's and the Mim's and the Rich Boys's aint needed. We can still rock that music in the club or for young folks like me the homecoming dances and proms. But we need support the FOR REAL artists out here. Common, Talib Kweli, Devin The Dude, Jay Z, Kanye West. All these folks should be the superstars. Talib Kweli released a classic album last year in Eardrum and that didn't even go gold. Talib sure sisn't following a golden age type of sound. And yet he still struggling to be relevent. Listen and Hot Thing should have been major hits. But czu it's 2008 Talib Kwlei shouldn't be rapping? It don't make no sense to me. We need a balance and the balace truely aint there. People might be like what's the big deal. All we wanna do is make money and make the people feel good. It aint just about the omey my brothers ans sisters. It's a bout maing an impact and showing the world that black people made this music for the world to enjoy. I don't wanna write too much but this music is for real. I wanna be able to talk to my kids about my ear in hip hop. But there really aint many moments and hits to talk about. Lil Wayne is cool but he really aint that great like ya'll claim him to be. I put Kweli over him anyday. Not just cuz he more relevent means that he's better. And that's the problem. Ya'll reversed the system. It should be the quality artists that are relevent. Not the average artists. Not sayin Wayne is average or anything. Just an example. If this is what hip hop is supposed to be like now, I was born in the wrong decade cuz I missed out on the greates period of hip hop music that the world will ever get to witness. 90's forever.
