Nas’, “Nigger,” Album Has Been Pushed Back Once Again
Reports had the album coming out in February with the first single coming out in January. But it looks like Nas will not be dropping the controversial, “Nigger,” album during Black History Month. Inside sources have told RealTalkNY the album will not be hitting stores this month. A single should however be released in the near future. Nas last album, “Hip Hop Is Dead,” went gold and sold over 750,000 records.

GROW some nutts def jam
R U STUPID? RETAILERS DONT EVEN WANNA CARRY THE NIGGER ALBUM. ITS BIGGER THAN DEF JAM. THE PARENT COMPANY, UNIVERSAL STANDS TO LOOSE 80 MIL IF THEY PUT OUT THIS ALBUM. THE ALBUM WILL NEVER RECOUP 80 MILL. JUST LOOK AT HIS LAST ALBUM SALES, 750 THOU. AND LOOK AT SOULJA BOYS SALES OVER 3 MILL DIGITAL/RING TONE AND CLOSE TO 800 THOU ALBUMS SOLD AND HE’S NOT FINISHED. NAS HAS LOST HIS RELEVANCY, HE DOES NOT HAVE THE SWAGGER OF HOVA. WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT USELESS OLD RAPPERS, I THINK ITS DISRESPECTFUL BECAUSE WHITE GROUPS LIKE THE ROLLING STONES GROSS HALF A BILLION OFF OF TOURING. WHERE IS THE RULE THAT SAYS A RAPPER HAS TO STOP AFTER 33 IF HE’S STILL FIRE? WELL I AM STARTING TO UNDERSTAND WHY PEEPS THINK THAT SOME RAPPERS ARE IN THE WAY. MOVE NAS. AINT NOBODY THAT USE TO LIKE NAS CHECKING FOR OR AKING ABOUT HIS NEW ALBUM. NOBODY CARES. WHERE’S THE PROMO/PUBLICITY AND THE RADIO SINGLE/VIDEO. NOW BLAME THAT ON JAY Z. YAW SHOULDA KNOW THAT THE REASON THAT THE ARTIST WERE NOT GETTING PUSHED WAS BECAUSE LA HAS JAY AS THE “TAKE THE BLAME MAN,” CAUSE LA WONT GIVE UP MARKETING MONEY TO SLOW/NON RINGTONE ARTIST. NOW LOOK THEY DONE PUSHED VAS BACK AGAIN. BLAME THAT ON HOVA. HOVA GOT OUT OF THE HOT SEAT.
February 4th, 2008 at 11:49 pm

February 5th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Why is White American so afraid of a word they created?
” When Jena-6 doesn’t exist, then that’s when we will stop using words like this…bitch “!
February 5th, 2008 at 10:09 am
i was a bit confused about this at first, but then again. why be? heck richard pryor created the nigga please award. i’ll end up buying this album, it’s defiently going to be conscious.
February 5th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
I am very surprised and disappointed at NAS for even associating himself with such a project linking him to the “N” word. While we do not know many of these people personally, we get personally involved with many celebrity types. I never seriously recognized NAS’s music until he came out with the rap song to inspire Black children to know BLACK HISTORY and BLACK PRIDE, and SELF LOVE.I thought the brother was deep, and concerned about the PLIGHT and STRUGGLE of Black people. This situation with the ‘N’ word album, sadly signifies that I was mistaken. Many of these blogs with comments about issues pertaing to Black people’s plight and struggle, many of the remarks are not coming from Black people. If you LOVE Black people like I do, go to the web site http://www.theunitedvoices.org I stopped using the “N” word in 1979 at the age of 19, and look forward to the VAST MAJORITY of Black people to STOP using the “N” word. “North Philly and Dallas Texas” Your Brother in the Struggle, Lorenzo.

“BLACK PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASLEEP FOR TOO LONG, IT’S TIME TO WAKE UP. IT’S PASS TIME TO REALIZE THAT AS LONG AS WE CONTINUE TO DISRESPECT THE SACRIFICES AND SUFFERING OF OUR FOREFATHERS, FOREMOTHERS AND ANCESTORS, WE WILL CONTINUE TO BE LESS, THAN WE CAN BE” Lorenzo B. Gray
February 5th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
I understand where he is going but he needs to go at it in a diffrent way cuz how they gonna promote that album at walmart where there is no explicit albums
February 5th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
That label aint gon put that album out LA Ried signed nas and Hov done more for him than Ried ever did. nas is goin to struggle to get a release date with that title the label will not support it.
February 5th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Why do people always doubt Nas? Only to regret it. Nas released I Can 5 years ago, those same children will be paying attention to what Nas is saying. This will be a BIG record and Im sure it’s Nas just making sure it’s perfect.
February 5th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
i wish he’d change the title.
what i found interesting is that people here are not blaming la reid. if jay was there, ya’ll would be blaming the mess out of him. this is why i’m glad jay left so ya’ll can finally see that not everything that happened there was his damn fault.
looking forward to whenever this cd comes out
February 5th, 2008 at 5:36 pm
im disappointed, i was waiting on this, that would have been a major move for Nas.
February 5th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
looking a but gloomy at defjam since jay left. Rick ross and nas both got pushed back. i bet money that defjam aint gonna release as many hip hop albums as it did when jay was there. everybody shit is gonna get pushed back.
February 5th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
damn, that nigga Jay-Z at it again… pushing niggas albums back so he can spend the money on himself…
February 5th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
This better B his best album ever

February 5th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
Ummm… if nas new album ain’t come out best believe he had soemthing to do with it… he’s holding this album up…
This is NAS we tlaking about… labels RUSH him to come out what are you kidding me?
Hip Hop is dead was nuts…
February 6th, 2008 at 4:30 am
he gonna sell a million just off the title alone. i was gonna buy it anyway, but this shit better be a classic. if its wack im done wit nas
February 6th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Jay is no longer CEO of DJ so why he’s mentioned I don’t know. Def Jam should just drop 85% of their hip-hop roster because rap doesn’t sell people are tired of the bullshit. Secondly, Nas will not I REPEAT, WILL NOT drop the album with that title because Def Jam would not allow it and the retailers will not stock it in their stores. It would set a dangerous precedent…….. what happens when a white supremacist wants to write a book called “NIGGER” and wants major stores to carry it? they can’t even say “NO” due to it’s racist nature because idiots like Nas who are fucking selfish and wants to sell because of controversy wants to use the “N” word for his album title.
You people supporting Nas gotta understand this guy is rich and doesn’t care how his album title effects the rest of us regular folk living and working 9-5. He is immune from the type of racism, backlash and racist discussion and debate that will take place with the album title. He is living in a mansion somewhere living it up with his homies whiles the rest of us regular folk got to answer questions at the workplace, deal with the backlash and calls of hypocrisy by white people, etc.
Nas don’t care about yall and how he chooses his album titles effects the movement. Nigga is selfish.
February 8th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Man, Keeeno, thats bullshit and you know it. Nas is the most meaningful rapper of all time (and its not up for debate), every song he sings has a message in it. What about this shit with the word “NIGGER”, he is not using it in a way that makes black people feel less capable of accomplishing stuff. In fact I think the word nigger has evolved to more of a term of “your ignorant”.
I can not see any way in how you could have made a connection that this album title will effect “us regular folk”. Christ, basically what your saying is I can stick a nice title for my album name and rap about anything I want even if it conveys a terrible message. This is going to be a great album, I feel it.
February 9th, 2008 at 10:47 am
Talking about Richard Prior, he put out an album called “Super Nigger,” it sold. Saying Nas can’t do it is fucked up. He’s making a statement just like he did with Hip Hop is Dead. In 10 years people are going to be like, omg I can’t believe I listened to that solja boy shit. It’s crap, it’s a trend… Nas’ albums are timeless, everything he said 10 years ago still holds up to this day.
I read an interview in XXL where Nas said when his CDs get pushed back it’s usually his idea. He’s sold a lot more CDs than anyone I know, so I’ll trust him to know what he’s doing.
February 11th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
man hip hop is dead thats all i gotta say if the black leaders would get their heads out of their asses and listen man we live in a corrupted world just listen to the song the title is the title and plus if someone called me a nigger I wouldn’t care it’s a freaking word for Christ sakes damn listen to what the man gotta say
February 12th, 2008 at 12:17 am
Nas is the greatest. He is the most intellectual rapper alive to date. Nas has swagger and he has been doing it for years. Many rappers just don’t got the poetic justice in their music like Nas does. Jay Z, I respect him, but Nas is going back to the nitty griddy controversial problems facing the black community in the US and the global community. Jay has not been doing that, Jay Z only talks about the lavesh lifestyle nowadays. Nas can balance his music, especially when he paints a picture of the problem blacks are facing. The album is going to be a sensational album. Nas brings the truth in every album. His commercial fame may have slip, but his music is straight up truthful.
February 12th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
Ayo “Keeeno” is a fucking idiot, shut the fuck up ni99a! Your mad fucking wack with your bullshit.Nobody cares what you think lol Def Jam needs to grow some balls and let Nas do his thing,I can understand if like (R-kelly) wanted to come out with an album called “nigger” but this is “Nas” people. Ya’ll really forgot what his capable off huh?? The man is a legend already, So im sure he is not doing it for the publicity, or any type of that shit. He’s just a skilled MC that wants the word to be simply a word and not take offense on it.Plus buy the CD, if you think the tittle is crazy, Then imagine how dope the tracks are going to be. Nasty Nas in your area,About to cause mass hysteria! you know it.! peaceeeeee
February 12th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
People do things for a reason.
Nas has his reasons and will most likly b for the benifit of the culture.
if he exploits the word, it losses its value. what other way can u get rid of a word?
in the end the people in a whole can move foward.
n im only 16

got the bootlegg an its hot if you want to hear it email me at youngmain757@yahoo.com
February 15th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Its idiots like you that killed hip hop. For you information, Nas stated his reasons for the album title on xxl. If you can read, I suggest you do… he will explain his position and his choices. While criticizing Nas, just remember that you probably couldn’t name a more intelligent rapper dead or alive.
February 15th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
If you’re a revolutionary freedom fighter… then do that, but that does not give you authority to act as a critic.
February 15th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
I think we should treat Nasir like a man and not some kind of idol. If he were your unsigned homie on the underground instead of “Nas” would you justify the album title the same way? Or would you keep it real wit your homie and tell him to think the title over a little longer. Just because a rapper is nice don’t mean he got common sense.
February 20th, 2008 at 11:26 am
nas is da best mc out besides jay z.take ya time nas, make a masterpiece
February 21st, 2008 at 12:59 am
Ya’ll are idiots talking about where is the publicity, no one is talking about this album, blah blah blah. Where is the publicity? The album’s title. No one is talking about it? Everyone is talking about the album title. when you got the whole world hung up on the title of your album, you don’t need posters hanging up, the posters are designed to get people talking, when you already have them talking, then you dno’t really need to spend money to get the same target audience buzzing, ya’ll are already doing taht right here in this thread
February 24th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Study your history Black people. Negaz was the name we used for people who were Kings in Africa and Asia, particularly India and Egypt. Pharoah is a Greek word. Its not the word we used.
Furthermore, until we defend our communities like every other people has had to, and quit jawjacking we are niggger, “ignorant, stupid people”. Thats the deal.
As far as Nas is concerned, he better catch up because Dead Prez has already set the precedent for conscious lyrics. If he ain’t coming like that he a lost cause.
April 4th, 2008 at 12:28 am
it has nothing to do with racism… its towards the chosen one… hes calling the chosen one a nigger!
PERIOD!!!
FUCK NAS for desensitizing that word in that way… who the fuck is he to judge?
April 4th, 2008 at 5:56 am
Yo Nas? If you ain’t got nothing production and uplifting and revolutionar to say, then shut up brother. Why you trying to be so Hollywood these days?
You want do something different? Good. Here’s my advice: strip off all that you know and start over.
Peace,
Fige Bornu, Chairman

WELL IT’S LIKE THIS…IF YOUR MUSIC USES MOSTLY THAT DAMN 808 DRUM MACHINE HANCLAPS AND THAT BULLSHIT FRUITYLOOPS PROGRAM…..YOU ARE NOT TALENTED…AND YOU ARE WACK…AND YOU SOUND LIKE PURE SHIT…..THE ONLY REASON YOU DON’T KNOW THIS, IS BECAUSE THE DUMB ASS DON’T UNDERSTAND SHIT ABOUT REAL MUSIC FANS THAT FOLLOW WHAT’S FED TO THEM ALL DAY EVERYDAY….DON’T GET IT…IT’S LIKE THE PIED PIPER BLOWING HIS FLUTE AND YOU ALL ARE THE STUPID MICE FOLLOWING IT….I DON’T EVEN BLAME YOU…IF THERE’S ONLY ONE THING ON THE MENUE….WHAT THE FUCK YOU GONNA EAT??? LIL WAYNE…ETC ETC ETC PLEASE GO THE HELL AWAY!!! AND LET ME REMIND YOU THIS IS NOT HATE….I HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THE OTHER BROTHERS THAT DON’T NEED A FUCKING MIC OR A BASKETBALL OR A BAG OF SOMETHING TO LIVE NICE….SO NAS DO YOUR THING…WE NEED SOME OTHER SOUNDING SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 29th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Just 2 shed LIGHT N.A.S. is prophetic futuristic emcee!! That should never be underestimated or put down!! His perception of reality is far ahead of anything coming from the south right now(The current rap empire)!! Rap is not HIPHOP(culture)!! I like rap music for fun and for the kids 2 dance around and get ‘CRUNK’/'Church’ in the clubs! But on a more serious and deeper level after the fun is over!! We still live in a complex world! NAS has been given certain keys to guide the 85%(slaves of a mental death and power)!!You see jesus came riding and ass(dumb people)!!To all NAS haters get educated by read books about our history(before we were slaves nubians/kush) and how we got in this crazy place then maybea you will be able to comprehend the voice of an Angel in your presence!I pray 4 the ignorant 1’s but eventually they will meet with there mentality which is DEATH it self!! PEACE!!Have fun and live life 2 the fullest!!2 all~

I could care if def jam drops it or not. Ya’ll are to concerned with money and buisness. The fact is Nas is the one of the illest cats to ever do this. Straight up godfather of modern Hip Hop. I have trouble thinking of very many people that can touch him. True Hip Hop music is and will always be about skill, not sales. You know he’s got so much money he could probably care less about sales, but nobody is complaining about getting paid and getting heard. I say take it underground if they won’t fuck with you Nas. The real heads will hear it. Fuck the tragic state of the industry, and the brainwashing capitalist nazi garbage on the radio. To those who truely like that shit: Good for you, you’re a fake ass sheep. If you hate on Nas you obviously know nothing. STFU kids.

Nas on the biz. Shut up uneducated haters.
Interview from XXL:
Are you satisfied with the relationship you have with your record label right now?
Yeah, it’s my last record with them.
Have you thought about what your next move is gonna be?
I have. But it’s too early to talk about.
Does the fact that people never seemed to be able to get over your old beef with Jay affect your thinking?
[Long pause] I think that the history was made with that move, and now I’m just exploring different things, just thinking about what I wanna do next. It’s the illest part of my life, again. I’ve always run into great times. This shit gotta be fun for you. Whatever Nas situation will be great for Nas, and that’s what I’m trying to figure out. It’s not about nothing that happened in the past. It’s about moving ahead, finding new ground and going to the next phase.
Rap fans looked at your situation at Def Jam, and they saw your albums getting pushed back twice in a row and Jay coming right before you twice in a row, and they always assumed there was something more going on there.
People gotta give me more credit than that. That’s not fair, if I push my shit back, to blame it on somebody. This is me you’re talking about. This is not somebody that just signed yesterday. This is somebody that’s been in the game a long time, put out a lot of albums. I know what I’m doing. So when I push my shit back, deal with it. I think a lot of people get caught up in rumors. It’s not fair to Jay, either, the way it’s put on him. But he gotta handle that. You wanna be president of the record label—he gotta handle that. He gotta handle the pressure. He gotta handle the negative talk.
I never needed it. I could pocket my marketing money. I market myself. Sold records on my last album on the strength of my own movement. My record this time will move or not move on the strength of my own movement. I’m not doing a Budweiser commercial. No diss to Jay and them niggas. Whatever. Do what you do. I’m not doing a Budweiser commercial. I don’t want to. If rappers wanna do Budweiser commercials, if they wanna sell the records Jay selling, they need to put the time in that people like Jay put in. I put in Nas time, and I get Nas results. If I got any more, I would feel funny. Everything that happened for me was planned—by me. So people should just realize these are my ideas. This is what I’m doing.
You say you’re satisfied with the situation at your label. It’s no exaggeration to say that puts you in a minority among Def Jam artists.
I don’t know. I can’t find too many people that’s happy anywhere in the state of the business right now.
Yeah, but at Def Jam in particular—
At Sony in particular. Shit is fucked up over there.
But longtime Def Jam artists have been complaining about the way things are run there.
I see where Ghostface shit definitely supposed to have been bigger. It’s just…things are the way they are for whatever reason. I can’t sit here and tell you Ghost’s situation. I don’t personally know it. I just know I would love to see his shit everywhere. But at the same time, Ghost reaching who Ghost supposed to reach. Nas reaching who Nas supposed to reach. Jay reaching who Jay supposed to reach. It’s not gonna be easy for nobody out here.
Ghost came out and did 35,000 the first week. You’re not going to be happy with that.
The marketplace is bad right now. If you want to do big, real business, you’ll wait ’til the market gets better. That’s not my mission right now… Since I said “hip-hop is dead,” I think a lot of niggas is starting to take this shit serious. It ain’t about sales no more. When Kanye killed 50, it was to show you this shit is about something real now. No diss to no rappers I’m talking about right now, but it ain’t about just selling no more. I said hip-hop is dead, and if that helped, then I’m a bad muthafucka. You can’t take that from me. And I feel like this record is the next chapter, going into something bigger. It’s a recession… People are going back to being humble again. Because everybody is not gonna get a big multimillion-dollar advance.
So the downtimes for the record industry are gonna help hip-hop?
Yeah, thank God. People do what they do. I ain’t knocking nobody. But I know one thing: This recession that’s going on—everywhere, not just hip-hop—is gonna produce better artists.

And that’s the real shit. You can all speculate all you want. Nas has been a genius from day one. Been in it for almost two decades. He’s not gettin dumber. He’s watched the industry form into what it is, and watched the product develop uncontrollably to a fault. None of ya’ll know what’s goin on in that mans head. He’s trying to save what he loves. A role-model emcee. Fuck the title of his album. There have been books and plays ten times worse. Watch a Scorsese or Tarantino movie. That word gets dropped a hundred times. Ya’ll are hiveminded tightasses. He has something he’s trying to say, and until the album drops, we don’t know what that is. I’m sure it will be clear in the end. Keep this shit alive. I will snatch your bitch ass chains and grills. ALBUMS GONNA BE FIRRRREE.

most of you people dont think enough…OF COURSE Nas is trying to get attention by putting N.I.G.G.E.R. as the title! But he doesnt do it for the sake of getting attention! Getting attention is the vehicle he uses to pass a bigger message…an enormous message! Think!
