Zoe Kravitz getting some air play I see…But conceptually, I don’t understand how her 4 different characters in the video correlate to this track…Ye’s Flashing Lights video was pretty self explanatory…But, between the floating lights/smoke and that atomized hand, this video right here is on some next sh*t…

Regardless, this track goes hard…Hov can do no wrong…Just that this video went over my head…

Kind of a boring video and I don’t think this song makes for a good single. He’d have been better off going with “American Dreamin’” to keep with the album’s theme. Both “Roc Boys” and “I Know” sound like uptembo, semi-pop songs (even though this one is a heroin/coke metaphor). But it doesn’t have the grit that the album’s supposed to deliver. Shit, “Pray” would’ve made for a better video.

The crab in a bucket mentality continues! Instead of trying to understand the video, we quickly try to tear it down because it “may” resemble Kanye West’s or really any conceptual video out there. So, to all those that missed it, I may be wrong, but my interpretation is clear. As everyone should know the song has a double meaning. 1) A women being in love/addicted to a man and 2) A women being addicted to Heroine. So, the video starts you off with two characters. One who looks like a fien and the other who looks classy and rich. So, immediately you think the fien is out looking for drugs, and the classy broad is hurt over a man. But, it flips and the fien looking chick is in love with the dude and the classy chick is the dope head. I.e. showing you not to judge a book by its cover. There’s messages there, you just have to open your eyes!

There has been a change in music video themes recently…they are more classy and less flashy. All da big rappers are trying to distant and separate themselves from lil rappers like soulja boy( i still like him dnt get it twisted), lil boosie e.t.c who still think its all about the bling and hoes in der videos in order to sell tracks. The big rappers like Jay-Z, Kanye West & Common are trying to show that they are on a higher level.
Therefore i dnt think Kanye is da first to start doing this.
This video is interesting sort of like a mini movie and da songs hot. So big up 2 Jigga…one of da best that ever did it and is still doing it!!!

The video is OK nothing special. Cool to see that Zoe Kravitz is in the video. She’s has starquality written all over her face.

I’m not a big fan of song though. His best song on the album is hands down “Fallin”. I hope Fallin gets to be his next single. That’s a damn HITSONG.

well for those who think the video is wack obviously you dont understand it… its just ignorance. no biggie.. it flies freely nowadays.. and for those who compare jay to kanye..are on that stuff.. cuz theres no comparison. American Gangster is a lyrical master piece..and if you were a fan of REAL hip hop you would have caught that. the things Jay says makes me think of him as a modern day prophet..in a non religious way.. he tells you straight up. i wish people could understand just half of the things he’s saying.. and for those who think the song is weak… just because its one of the less serious songs on this album doesnt mean its weak..this isjust one of the high spirited ones.
