Baltimore Lov Thing DVD Documentary Trailer

“I look at Baltimore Lov Thing as an extension of what David Simon started with shows like The Corner, and The Wire. These are shows that really captured the Baltimore experience – and I love the work. The Wire in particular. I spent some long hours on the set of that show, and every check cleared, so Dave is alright with me. I want that clear. But what happens is, you take shows like that, which are based on real life happenings in our city, and present them to the public as fiction.”

“The Corner was based on the life of DeAndre McCullough, who is in my documentary. Everyone in B-More knows The Wire’s stories come from our local history. So what happens is these shows take our reality, and fictionalize it, and it’s absorbed by the viewing public as fiction. The viewing public sees it as a good story, instead of what it really is, and that’s a crisis. So what I wanted to do with this documentary is present the same type of stories, the same type of hardship and let the people who see know that the conditions are real, the personas are real; these aren’t SAG members. These crackheads don’t win awards; the 12 year olds with AK-47’s don’t have managers or publicists; and the hungry children with parents addicted to heroine or what have you – these aren’t actors. When the cameras stop rolling, these people don’t hop in a Benz and head back to New York. It is what it is, and hopefully this documentary will set off some alarms. That’s what I want this documentary to do: set off alarms. So the American public can go from being entertained by our every day existence, and start asking what can we do to better the situation. That’s the film I shot. Hopefully that’s the film you see.”

  2. ShaSha Says:

yo you right its getting ridiculous the drugs. I have to admit the wire is a good show and the corner was good also but those shows do not represent baltimore as a whole. By us being a small city with not alot of tourist attraction we dont have alot of resources so the city has all these problems nyc got problems too and on a bigger level but they have more resources and options. Alot of that city is protected becaus eof money and tourist nyc is like a landmark they not going to let people fuck it up so the crime and violence stays in one place. but in Baltimore we a small on our own city in between philly and dc. Our city is small and when you have drugs and violence it takes up our whole city its a damn shame …we could have so much potinetial.

  3. street runner Says:

yo seriously i admire this we deal with this shit in new york mattafact if count the south bronx as a city we had the highest murder rate for a hot minute we ave4rage around a body a year and have a million less people in a year not to mention we get overlooked cause we have a high population of hispanics and blacks and people think brooklyn is worst when that far from it the most dangerous are mostly located in the bronx the king of the ny bloods is locatedin the south bronx dudes dont rep latin kingz like they do in the bx people think just cause we are city with alot of tourist mioney we live good their more crime here then any otha city i think its just people think its not like dc or bmore it worse atleast yall have good percentage of your murder reported and not that many are caused by police or ambulance carelessness shit makes me sick that dudes dont see this on my old block ( actually in a 32 block their have been atleast 15 murders but a few weren’t reported case it not “important”, fear of “snitchin”, and city emts and police firefighters, etc. this shit needs to stop do you man anyone who is like that the crime rate is on the decline no its jus be hidden so the policticans can save face and the black leaders wont do shit to stop this but as soon as a rappers drops an album they want boycott it brcause it make them look bad in front their white friends and they feel it makes feel better to sell out their race when they friend are laughing @ their stupidity he needs released in the movies so we can get actually trend fgo to let mainstream america see real hood life and see they still wanna glorify this faje ass gangsta rappers

  4. ShaSha Says:

thats why they call new york a city within a city. yall th crime can take over 1 burrough or one part but not the whole damn city in baltimore we small the drugs and shit takes over everything and we dont have no barriers ..they might shoot in the bronx but they dont shoot in times square in baltimore they shoot everywhere it dont even matter we are such a sad city its depressing the news makes me sick . People I know from new york always tell me baltimore reminds them of the bronx by the way.

  5. jb Says:

yea that shit is crazy i heard everythin in b-more is like bulletproof that shit is crazy, but on da west coast gunplay is an everyday thang niggaz get bucked in da hood all da time cuz there is like 30 gangs in one city bloods crips and da mexicans be beefin and in sac alone there was 63 gang related murders in 07 and already 7 in 08 and in da bay and L.A. there is even more…

  6. everybody wana be a n*gga, but nobody wana be a n*gga! Says:

wow, touched and loving my city! Cant wait to show my support on the dvd. Bringing reality checks to those who have no idea what these streets are like. Streets full of murder, gang violence, disease, poor school systems, lack of acceptable housing, and addiction. Baltimore is a small town but we hold some of the highest destructive minority statistic rates in the USA.

Sad, most are very talented, but we cant make it out partly because of our own greed and hatred. A bunch of crabs, keeping each other down. N*ggas cant stand to see you wanting something better or doing better. I’m blessed to make it out of the city, and sit in the suburbs about 30 minuets away from the crazyness, but it hurts when you still have family who are still stuck in the belly and will never get out.
