Drug Agents Claim Defamation In American Gangster
Three former Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents have filed a $US55 million ($62 million) defamation lawsuit against the movie studio that made American Gangster, claiming it tarnished hundreds of reputations. The movie hurt the agents’ reputations by falsely claiming in text at the end that a collaboration between Lucas and Roberts “led to the convictions of three-quarters of New York City’s Drug Enforcement Agency” agents between 1973 and 1985.
I don’t see these guys winning this lawsuit, I mean its only a movie.

if dey used real names (check)
if the disclaimer b4 the movie doesnt entails that it is a “based on true story” “base on true events” nor “fiction” nd leads the viewer to believe that this is a true fact by fact film(check)
nd if dey can prove that ALL of the accounts of police authority misused in the film was un true (check)

YO!
if this was not a true story.. I would still pay the ticket and see the movie!
it’s all about telling a great story, really
I can see how (some people) might get mad, when you make a movie stating that a black criminal help put cops in jail, or out of work, that may piss off some cops.. HA!!!
STICK IT TO THE MAN
