Preview Of Nas Upcoming XXL Interview
XXL: Hip-hop was very much under the microscope last year, beginning with the Don Imus situation. What’s curious about that is that, here we are, nearly a year later, Imus has his job back, and somehow hip-hop continues to be examined because of what he said.
Nas:I think Imus was just trying to be cool, trying to be down. And it was a win-win situation for him, because it wasn’t handled properly. I believe in Don Imus’ freedom of speech. Because if we don’t know what people are thinking, how can we solve any problems? If you don’t know what Nas is thinking, how do you know what the people that listen to me are thinking? People tell their kids, “Don’t listen to that.” But you can find out who your kids really are if you listen to what they’re listening to and watch what they’re watching.

Though worded in a somewhat confusing manner, what he said is really thought-provoking.
Freedom of Speech is one of the greatest things about this country. It assures you the right to voice you’re opinion without fear of penalty.. that’s a powerful thing. No prosecution simply because you think different from others.
BUT, that is not why NAS is saying he believes in Imus’ right to freedom of speech.
NAS is turning it around and using it to his advantage. He’s looking into the mind of the enemy and has the chance to understand and figure him out. All by just letting him run his mouth. Very sly NAS. Technique is flawless.
Giving Imus just enough slack of the rope, that he’ll hang himself.
Nice. Must’ve picked that up in a book. Kust another reason why I lol at people who think being book-smart is a liability.
If you look at all the great leaders and military minds throughout history, they were almost always schooled in tactics passed down throughout the ages.
NAS gets a 9/10 for this one, could’ve been a 10/10… but he showed his cards by revealing his methods.
