Jay was the artist, Dame ran the label and was the businessman. Ultimately, they made each other rich. They both function alot better together. But Dame has much money, no doubt. So his pride is hurt, not his pockets.

Lets stop acting like Jay built the ROC alone. It takes a TEAM to build that type of Legacy. Seriously though, artist should work at being the best artist, producers need to perfect producing, and CEOS need to be just that. Hip Hop starting falling off, when everybody started trying to do every damn thing. Focus your talents, everybody do their jobs, and you win. You never saw Clive Davis trying to sing and you never saw Luther Vandross trying to run a label or produce. They perfected their own craft. This is why Jay Z is hot as a rapper, yet he sucks as the President of Def Jam.

Yeah, Dame was the business of ROC, but he said it himself – JAY IS ROCAFELLA. He’s the only artist that carried them all those years. No matter how good a business man Dame is, if Jay was whack, the ROC wouldn’t exist nor would the business that carry the ROC name.
