Janet Jackson - Feedback
International megastar Janet Jackson, who has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and is the newest signing to the Island Def Jam Music Group, has completed her first new single for the label with hitmaking producer Rodney Jerkins. “Feedback” will impact across-the-board at all radio formats on January 7th.
DISCIPLINE, Janet Jackson’s new album – and the 10th studio album of her career – is scheduled to arrive in stores on February 26th. In addition to Rodney Jerkins, the new album brings together an A-list of guest producers, including Jermaine Dupri, Ne-Yo, Stargate, Tricky Stewart, and The-Dream. DISCIPLINE was executive produced by Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.
In a class all by herself, 5-time Grammy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated Janet Jackson is currently starring in Why Did I Get Married?, the smash hit movie by Tyler Perry, which opened #1 at the box office. This is the third motion picture of Janet’s career, and her third to open at #1, following the success of Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (2000), and her leading title role in John Singleton’s Poetic Justice (1993).

December 13th, 2007 at 5:55 am
The track is hot!
Maybe she’ll drop something better than 20 Y.O. this time
December 13th, 2007 at 6:15 am
janet, love you but that’s not how u come back. sounds like a britney spears album cut. where’s the 2008 thats the way love goes?
December 13th, 2007 at 7:06 am
Songs better than i thought.
December 13th, 2007 at 7:31 am
excited to see her album, hoping it will meet the people’s expectations…nice smile janet!
December 13th, 2007 at 9:28 am
Janet, just give it up babe. These old @$$ entertainers can never seem to bow out gracefully.
December 13th, 2007 at 9:36 am
Not hatin at all… I love janet but i’m just not feelin it
December 13th, 2007 at 11:00 am
did she say “i’m heavy like a first day period?…what??? nope i don’t really like this..
December 13th, 2007 at 11:08 am
not my style, but her album would probably do numbers so I wont knock it.
December 13th, 2007 at 11:37 am
Its hot..I still fucks wit Janet. Now that we overdosed on Beyonce, maybe she gets a lane on the radio.
December 13th, 2007 at 11:42 am
@14 Overdosed on Bee ha? All you have to do is ignore her you know. But every new article or song that comes out y’all HAVE to read or listen to, just ignore her.
December 13th, 2007 at 11:54 am
#4 Alot of people are saying that it sounds like a song that didn’t make Britney’s album and I believe it.
I want her to retire from making new albums. Celine Dion and Toni Braxton are over in Las Vegas doing Vegas shows for millions. Janet isn’t broke but I bet she can make more doing that then still trying to push out albums.
She’s 40 something still trying to compete with these 20 something year olds. Her fans have grown and evidently her music hasn’t. “I’m heavy like a first day period?” WTF? This generation has already replaced her with Ciara. And yes, you can say Ciara aint shit compared to Janet but this generation doesn’t know Janet, they know Ciara.
December 13th, 2007 at 12:24 pm
This shit sounds too Britney Spearish to me…It has the same style, swag, and rhythm as Britney’s Black Out LP…It’s pretty sad, cuz she used to be such an innovator…
December 13th, 2007 at 12:59 pm
This sounds like Lose My Breath by Destiny’s Child. Rodney Jerkins didn’t even change the drums. I’m not impressed. Janet needs to get back to the Velvet Rope zone and before.
December 13th, 2007 at 3:46 pm
Sorry Janet couldn’t finish listening to it, you gotta come much harder.
December 13th, 2007 at 4:01 pm
I am not even a fan of Janet’s and I like this song. I guess my musical tastes expand beyond trying to keep it hood and endorsing thug life.
December 13th, 2007 at 4:25 pm
WHY PEOPLE SO IGNORANT TALKIN BOUT SHE COMPETETING WITH 20 SOMETHING YEAR OLDS. IF ANYBODY LISTENED TO HER STUFF JANAT HAS MAD STYLES OF MUSIC FROM POP-R
December 13th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
i know what it sounds like now….Die another day by madonna…Anyone else hear that yet?!! It does sound kinda Britneyish too, but to be fair, she was the original Britney!!! oooooh….
December 13th, 2007 at 11:17 pm
Not my style… don’t really think it’s janet’s either but oh well! I hope they have a better song than this in the wings or its gonna be a short stay with JD at Def Jam!
December 13th, 2007 at 11:45 pm
You trash can listen to ‘ridin dirty’ and ‘duffle bag boy’ but Janet is the one doing this wrong? Free your minds from captivity you fools…
December 14th, 2007 at 12:20 am
@bberrycutie…so, janet should “bow out” because she’s 41? and when is that considered “old?” please, your outdated and prehistoric view of aging and what’s “age-appropriate” show that you are sorely short-sighted and will no doubt limit what you can do as you get older. a true queen never bows out!
December 14th, 2007 at 12:56 am
agree with # 25
December 14th, 2007 at 2:03 am
She’s Back!!!! Loving this song. I cannot wait for the video.

December 14th, 2007 at 10:07 am
im sorry im a die hard Janet fan, so i just cant wait to see what this is al about. i liked damita jo but not thw last one.
song is OK
December 14th, 2007 at 11:17 am
This Song is AWESOME!! I can’t wait for the new Album. I was hoping for another great dance single from Janet.. That is her thing.. I have to say, I Liked 20 YO and Damita Jo, but they didnt get the airplay they needed to stay in the game. I’m glad that Janet is staying in the game, never giving up.. I have been a fan for over 20 years, and every album brings something different, and has some note worthy tracks.
December 14th, 2007 at 2:54 pm
DATN*** you are illiterate, pathetic, and vulgar. Although you don’t have a picture of yourself here I could only image how you look, especially by the way you talk. Is your life so pathetic you have to be so harsh on Janet by caller her UGLY and moreover use that type of language? Learn how to speak proper English, starting by getting an education and not being so vulgar. That’s why people think Blacks aren’t about shit, because of dumb asses like you. GET SOME CLASS!!!!!
December 17th, 2007 at 2:26 am
THIS SONG IS HOT! GET THAT SHITT JANET! legends and icons will never go AWAY…so learn to embrace her.
December 18th, 2007 at 3:43 am
This is a hot song… Ill def. rock out to it. For yall haters.. just stop hatin man. If it was Justin Timberlake singing the SAME DAM SONG all of yall would go crazy over it. Also Janet hasn’t had an album that HASN’T gone platinum since Control came out. 20 Y.O. got no airplay/love from the radio stations and it Still went platinum.. but yall call the lady washed up? By comparison to her other albums (which all go double, triple platinum) I guess I could see why. But then again thats the problem with Americans. We think that each album/movie/project as to “out do” or out sell the last. Thats not what artistry is about. Its about a body of work. From start to finish. She’ll go platinum again. And the album will be dope.
December 18th, 2007 at 10:54 pm
I agree ThatDude…Feedback is a hot song.
December 19th, 2007 at 5:33 am

Not Much to say after Scott

Not Much to say after Scott andThatdude
Janet is an Icon/Legend which means she has been around and noteworthy for awhile. 2 continue in the realm of adversity is a unique quality. Artists will be themselves by creating what they like and what moves them. And we all know art is subjective, however Janet has produced enough to impact masses. 2 stay with the blog, Feedback is a thumper and makes me excited to hear what else is on the discipline recore.
Discipline/To punish or penalize in order to train and control; correct; chastise.
December 19th, 2007 at 9:11 am
@We love u really….Janet… Looks like someone needs an ear exam for Christmas. Madonna’s “Die another Day” is way off from FeedBack. House Music has it’s own Tempo. U go Janet! Keep doing your thing girl. You’re making millions @ the age of 41, while these one track mind losers just sit around and wait all their life wishing that they could be in your shoes. Much Love 2 Miss Jackson. One of the Sexiest Black woman Alive!
December 20th, 2007 at 10:16 pm
So how do I describe this new song? My FEEDBACK is Fierce - Energetic - Exciting - Damn Good - Blazin - Awesome - Creative - Kick Ass… “Get the point (Good), Let’s Dance”
December 21st, 2007 at 7:49 pm
People bash her that Damito Jo and 20 Y.O. didn’t sound current, then she does “Feedback” which is right on the pulse of today’s pop and they bash her for not sounding like herself!
Why is it that when Madonna’s music changes it’s praised as “reinvention” but when Janet explores different sounds she accused of trying to sound like someone else? (By the way Madonna has made a career ripping people off- everyone from Kylie Minogue to vogue dancers to Mirwais to lower east side club kids).
“Feedback” is a great song- it’s fresh, it’s hot, and still has Janet’s trademark style. This song is already the most requesting song on the radio nation-wide. It was the right song at the right time- perfect career move for Janet.
December 22nd, 2007 at 10:50 am
This song is truly hot…great beat, geat vocals, great lyrics…a number one across the board is destined.
I love Janet, and she has really came out with the perfect kick-butt song!!!!
December 22nd, 2007 at 10:52 am
And Janet is beautiful, not ugly as some insecure hater said.
Janet LOOKS 25.
December 22nd, 2007 at 6:43 pm

December 22nd, 2007 at 11:29 pm

December 25th, 2007 at 10:22 pm

December 27th, 2007 at 2:00 am
This cut is hot and Janet is back. I thought she never left. Fans can be some fickle MF’s.
December 28th, 2007 at 5:47 am
I think that it’s important to understand that the Jacksons are so persistant as a family and have been through so much that it VERY unlikely that nothing we post here negative or positive will sway them either way.
Being that we all have the right to post our opinions it is healthy not only to have fans comment but also have objective “feedback” unbiased by adoration or hate. With that in mind the song did exactly what it set out to do START FEEDBACK world wide. Good or Bad press is STILL press.
The fact that everyone is buzzing about this says a lot about her staying power and coming off the heels of her last SMASH movie , DISCIPLINE ( the album’s title) tells us she knows what she has to do this time around.
I get it. The Jackson’s are known for their one take precision and comeback power.
I read how people thinks Janet is old. For the demographic that she’s trying to reach I think it’s important that she moves one from here ( dance, pop )
and venture into her next logical evolution and that would be a VOCAL evolution. She’s not growing dramatically like she grew between CONTROL and RHYTHM NATION, or the UNPARALLED GROWTH between JANET and VELVET ROPE. Conceptually she’s had nothing to say in years. The title of the record DISCIPLINE sounds more like a concept piece.
This is it for Janet, she better land it on this one and kick ass on the Videos and the TOUR. Visually I would like to see her STRAIGHT UP DANCE and get back to her raw performing talent. Less focus on the sexual subject matter and a brand new hairstyle that could spark a trend with the average black chick is so necessary.
Janet needs to connect with her roots from a linear level. Don’t come so “JACKSON” all the time. Now I wasn’t a huge fan of the album JANET. but what I will say is she was to be congratulated on the way that she ( through Rene’s insight ) came through the side door with ” That’s the Way love Goes” instead of coming through the front door making a big deal.
FEEDBACK is HOT but I know DISCIPLINE will be a reflection of her passion to perform and make the biggest comeback of her ENTIRE career.

Ok so I’ve read damn near all of these commets and I say everyone’s right Janet is GREAT by all measures, so let’s point out the obvious she’s 40 something, her last 2 albums were not a success according to numbers? We had the nipple incident and than she start kickin it with J.D. Most ppl don’t like J.D they say he’s ugly and the nipple thing got her banned from MTV and so what she’s 40 she looks good and she’s still entertaining and can sell out a venue on name alone(which is more than I can for the newer crop of artists male or female)she is the seed, the foundation for all singers/performance artists we need not throw her under the bus because a younger generation impacts. This will continue to happen as long as music and time go on, where do you think Beyonce or Ciara will be in 20yrs gettin flipped on the same way you guys are flippin on Janet. She’s an Icon, Black Royalty so are those who forged b4 her Ella, Eartha, Dorthy, Billie, Lena and so on, yes the song sounds like a Britney throw away but these are the times we live in younger consumers you have to cater in some senses but also this is the teaser it may or may not be the first single and if it is the job was done because everyone is talkin about it like it or not. It’s called creating a buzz even someone as big as Janet has to do something to get the public talking. Happy 2008 ppl!!!!!! Disipline
January 19th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
I absolutely LOVE the new single. I hope radio stations give it some damn airplay!!!!
January 21st, 2008 at 7:22 pm
